  1. Did they leave the ‘Chocolate Pudding with Whipped Runnaway Cream’ on the dessert menu?
  2. Is it my imagination, or is Surly even saltier than normal lately? We have always been a hive of scum and villainy, but it seems like recently we have kicked it up a notch. Myself definitely included.
  3. What you call “rough patches” I call “premium entertainment.” Watching MFCDG lurch back from the lady’s room with toilet paper streaming from the back of her pantyhose…and her stealing my steak knife “for protection” was a glimpse into a world that was fun to watch… but only because I was on the periphery of it.
  4. I remember reading that at the time. It was blocked from my memory. Curse you for posting that again.
  5. Yeah, my g-g-g grandfather was an LDS pioneer who had a homestead near Bear Lake. They eventually gave that up and moved to the big city - or as my late uncle called it, “the salubrious sunswept slopes of Soda Springs, Idaho” Diversity would not be welcomed in the western part of the state so much…
  6. I’m still annoyed that when people asked me if I “wanted to explore a business opportunity so I could quit my job”, and then when I said “wait a minute - is this Amway?” - they would simply lie, prevaricate, stall, deflect, not answer (apparently it was a mortal sin to admit being Amway.) So we would meet and as soon as they confirmed it was Amway, I would walk out and tell them it was not cool being untruthful with me, as it sends the message that my time is not valuable, and you can lie to me to use it up. Assholes!!
  7. That whole vegetation-prevents-water soaked-soil-from-becoming-mudslides thing becomes problematic when there’s, you know, no more vegetation
  8. Sorry to hear that. The stoicism is understandable. I’m having a similar issue with my youngest son who recently moved back in with me. While not agreeing with them, he was a strident mouthpiece describing why the young people who hated Biden had legitimate reasons. We had some heated conversations with me saying, “if those assholes wanna be like Nader voters who gave the election to Bush, and then whined about his environmental policies, fine. I’ll probably be dead in a decade and they’ll have their lives to live in this shit.” He doesn’t want to talk about politics now. I think his understanding of what I was talking about is hitting him hard. Oh. Please keep posting.
  9. that was a nice block by the running back on the blitz to allow that plate to happen
  10. Well, I admittedly was wandering around the authoritarian regime start issue and intermixed it with the other subject in hand. So that is my bad. I have no real desire in getting a pissing contest with you over limited verbiage texts on these things, because you seem to be on the good side of our current political divide. And I have to admit it’s hard for me to post anymore on any of these subjects without being really fucking pissed while I’m doing it. Unfortunately, I don’t see that changing anytime soon.
  11. But there would be some spirited intellectual disagreement over the amount of blood that deems you a slave. I mean, since we all know the Founders had no issue with slavery. And we have to consider all of those property owners who were denied the right to vote on those abolition laws because they were under military duress. I don’t think Thomas would have much problem with that - because I’m sure Ginny would sign some manumission papers in advance of the decision.
  12. And not a word about your presidential immunity comment. Well done.
  13. I prefer to believe that is more like a tight axe wound that smells like fresh rosewater. Fight me!
  14. …and a flag. since the NFL reads surly.
  15. Yeah, the presidential immunity decision was extremely disturbing. But foolish me, it did not seem at the time to be as disturbing as advocating rounding up people who have previously been considered American citizens, or our president threatening to seize Greenland - or make Canada (a sovereign nation), our 51st state - or declaring tariffs on a country for refusing to let one of our deportation buses land. But since we are fast approaching Carnival in New Orleans, maybe you were just trying out your Ani costume and pointing out important side issues we have not considered.
  16. Do you remotely understand how your seeming dismissive attitude to the reality of the Constitution being shredded before our eyes appears to folks here? And why the fact that the administration is going ahead with its deportation policies on steroids before a test case has been decided by SCOTUS is so fucking terrifying? Put another way, this is not a nothing burger. it is the start of an authoritarian regime.
  17. Are you seriously saying that the mouth breathers and Rogen Bros who have tuned out any news but Fox News and the spittle croaked musings from Trump’s mouth would’ve voted one way differently if we had five hours a day of the Democrat Knowledge Channel giving detailed analysis of why the right was wrong? My God, man, don’t you understand?! somewhere…in some state…some trans kid will do better than their daughter in softball!!!!
  18. if some Swedish fire control officer made an oopsie - and slammed a shell into the side of the Russian vessel that made it explode, I would certainly expect a seemingly sincere apology from a Swedish diplomat midway into eating his sandwich be mumbled to the Russian Ambassador - and that a recommendation of a stern warning be placed in that officer’s record.
  19. It’s like what a year or two after Katrina people who I met out of state would ask me, “Is the city back to normal now?” It was always difficult not to punch a motherfucker
  20. What do you have against capitalism?
