So we all have GOP Congress to thank to taping our feet to the bicycle and forcing us to endure whatever tariffs fuckery comes next with no legal off ramp. Just fantastic work

Beth Van Duyne is getting an earful from her least favorite swarthy constituent, let me tell you....

    Beyond contempt.

  3. Viet Cong is a cool name.  So what would I be if I decide to don black pajamas, sandals, and try to help Canada?

I vote for Jesus Murphy's, Bloody Caesars, or Beavertails.

    6. Mickey / Texas mickey

A mickey is a small bottle of alcohol that you tried to hide in your jeans when heading out to a party. No, really. While a mickey is actually a small bottle of alcohol (375mL or 13oz), the bottle itself is shaped to fit in your pocket which dates all the way back to the 19th century, thanks to the people who got a little too rowdy and had to be more conspicuous about their drinking habits.

    31. Jesus Murphy

This is a fun Canadian slang word that’s used as a safe expletive, as if changing The Lord’s last name makes the phrase any less blasphemous. Extra points if you add a little bit of an English or Irish accent when you say it!

    43. Five-hole

Since you’re in Canada you’ll be exposed to more hockey than you probably signed up for, so you might as well learn some of the sports lingo! You’ll often hear players say, “I scored through the five-hole” which means they managed to score a goal between the goalie’s legs.

    47. Beavertail

This is one of the best desserts you can try while you’re in this beautiful country. Don’t worry, Canadians don’t actually eat the tails of their National animal. This dessert is made of deep fried dough that’s shaped and stretched into a long oval, similar to the shape of a beaver’s tail!

    51. Bloody Caesar

Similar to a Bloody Mary, in Canada a Bloody Caesar (or caesar) is considered the unofficial cocktail of the country. The difference being the use of clamato juice rather than tomato juice. Yep, it’s base is a mixture of tomato and clam juice. Give’r a go if you’re brave enough.

Kind of ironic that liberals are Elon's main customers.

    Honda Fit liberal here.

I can fit four dead wild hogs in the back with the seats down.

  5. So as an old dude, I take solace in bombarding my knee jerk Trumpy federal congressional reps with emails/calls on vm about every other day.  Going to try to join the next protest (blue and yellow flags on overpasses type stuff) next chance I get.

Any recommended charities that any of you recommend?

This is game of thrones type treachery.  Sickening.

  6. Imagine how much more legit this whole fiasco would have been if they made this global offer all over the federal workforce in the first couple of months, and then started actually providing at least some kind of justification for cuts thereafter.  Legit justification, like "national parks are woke".

Top US health agency makes $25,000 buyout offer to most of its employees

I realize that would be less cruelty which is the point, but still a better long-term ploy.

  7. Certainly focusing on the wrong shit.  If you don't like it, Hakeem, give them the stink eye on the way out of the speech and then it's time to focus on actual, real strategy.

I'm torn. Because ancient wisdom says don't interrupt your enemy when they are making a mistake, but perhaps the assumption that this is all a mistake is the flaw here. The two sides aren't even fighting the same war. Dems need to, unfortunately, give a lot fewer fucks about decorum and appearance and do what is actually necessary to stop our freefall into fascism. So while I agree you shouldn't stop someone from showing their ass who deserves it, I'm not sure that strategy is going to work here. It assumes everyone is playing by the same rules and clearly there are no rules.

The problem is that the Dems are campaigning as the party of the rule of law and traditional norms of civility.  The Republicans aren't.  Therefore when Dems dive into that particular cesspool, they look weaker -- they can't keep their shit together and they simply aren't as good at being assholes.

The Dems have to act twice as civil to look half as civil in the eyes of people who have double standards.  I think Dems gain by playing nice in places and at ceremonies that some peope hold sacred.  Go to town elsewhere.  Be bold at your own rally, or when protesting.

But don't shit in places that in normal times you would hold sacred.  Shit on places they hold sacred but you don't.

  9. So netted out, are the dems better off at not trying to disrupt Trump speeches?  Hearing some interesting viewpoitns today.  I didn't watch last night, but what I'm hearing is that the Dems just aren't good enough at trolling the master troller, and since there is a double standard in terms of awfulness, the dems can't win these head to heads.

On the flip side, I just may be out of touch with what the younger dems want.
