  1. You do realize that the only reason we are having this conversation is that the bolded portion? That the bolded portion does appear to be ready to completely trump the unbolded portion? The argument is that a new candidate will be able to jettison the age issue while carrying virtually all the positive baggage from Biden's Presidency.
  2. I want this guy:
  3. Very stoked about SMU.
  4. I mean, if most of the judges and legislators and ex-Presidents weren't complete scumbags, the ruling wouldn't seem all that bad.
  5. I realize it's a question of where you want to die, but dammit, why does Ireland have to be so high? World Cost of Living Calculator: 9294 cities, 197 countries (livingcost.org)
  6. Yeah, it's Kamala plus a potentially interesting VP - someone who can talk Supreme Court. VP immunity.
  7. I guess the way I look at this is as if we were playing for the national championship. Quinn has taken us there, but he breaks his throwing hand before the championship. He's still a better quarterback than the other guy, and Texas is still embued with more cosmic goodness, and hasn't he won all the games until now? But the betting odds drop since we've got no more passing game. Ohio State are still the scumbags they always were. So are we not going to give Manning or ANY of the other reserve quarterbacks a chance? And aren't our odds going to go up with all of those alternatives? Are you disagreeing with the premise or are you just thinking we are all trolls for discussing it, because discussing it makes it worse?
  8. Pete, Kamala, Gavin, Josh, Gretchen (Go Green Go White) there's a shitload and I realize it most certainly will be Kamala. Anyone who can address an abortion question by not pivoting to immigration. Anyone who can succinctly point out the structural barriers the republicans are building and want to build into democracy. Literally everyone one who was going to vote for Biden anyway will support them, literally everyone who was supporting Biden will be more energized by them, and literally every independent who is on the fence will think they are a better alternative than Biden. Was my fantasy two years ago, is my fantasy now, and is only a fantasy.
  9. 1) The media only cares about who is going to win. They've mistaken the idea that appearing to be non-biased requires them to focus on the winning and not the underlying mendacity and its dangers. 2) Maybe you should watch more MSNBC.
  10. I'm not sure it matters in this one. But I'd gladly give up making a correlation is not causation argument if Biden wins.
  11. That wasn't a fucking cold. I don't mind the argument that really shitty Biden is better than Trump, or even that a demented Biden is better than Trump, but the cold argument is aggy on injected-in-the-ass-steroids.
  12. No matter who the Dem candidate could conceivably be, correct?
  13. The voting public is much younger than that on average and almost 50% is as insane.
  14. Again, I don't get this. The rule is to win the Presidency. If you believe a) the electorate is uniquely fucked up and is about to vote for a lying sack of shit b) you think this uniquely fucked up electorate is more likely to elect a handful of Dems not named Biden rather than Biden. Then you arguably should be screaming this from the mountaintops if you think it's a better strategy than sticking with Biden, because you don't have much time to get this ball rolling. And I do think that unless the polls show a huge drop, this yelling from the mountaintop will be damaging because Biden is going to refuse to drop out. (Not sure while I am using "from the mountaintop". It could be from anywhere.)
  15. That's not the argument I'm making. They should go find a successful business person or celebrity who tells the truth and who respects others. Then they will do their best to limit the number of possible handicaps - Poor health, too old, lack of name recognition, ugly, poor speaker, etc. Biden had a big fucking handicap when the Dems nominated him last time. It worked out. They gambled on it again. But they could have cut a deal to make it a one term deal based on his age, and that didn't happen. It's okay. Arguably a reasonable bet. Sort of.
  16. Okay, bad example. Spain from invading Russia. Just for the sea battles.
  17. I wouldn't try to stop Greece from invading Turkey. Just for the shenanigans.
  18. How is it the Dems fault if they lose? It's the same reason it's the fault of Texas if we lose to Washington in football. The fact that we live in a seemly unmatched period of stupidity just means it's a harder game for the Dems to play, but they still have to play it. Everyone went into this with an open mind that his age could be a problem. When I mentioned it a few months back I was excoriated because incumbency was such an important advantage. Dems might get outflanked on this one. Their fault. That's not to say that the game was even winnable in this environment - it might not be. But if policy truly doesn't matter because of the stupidity of the populace, you're taking a gamble by hoping policy alone wins out.
  19. Sure, but ultimately, who cares? It WILL be the Dems fault if Donald Trump wins the Presidency again, just like it was the Dems fault that he won it the first time.
  20. White Rock Lake was angry that day, my friends.
  21. Age Concern Troll checking in. I missed the debate. (I'm trying to learn to sail. Snipe - what a stupid boat). I'm all in with the Dems on this one, so I'm fine with Joe, smokey Kamala, gay Pete, or the Californian.
  22. Screw all that. I just want Pepe to score tonight.
  23. So the last month or so I've been sucking down the Cleveland Kimchi. I add it to rice or green ramen. It's partly because I was reading about the health benefits but mostly because it tastes fantastic. Some canned fish, a little basmati and a handful of kimchi and you have a meal going. In any case, the wife says when she walks into the kitchen it makes her want to throw up. She says the kimchi is coming from my pores. She's says it's got to go. I don't think eating Korean on the outside is an option. We've been married a while and frankly its a close call but she does a great job of managing the bills, so the kimhci is going. Any banned foods in your house?
