I hate that this thread stays at the top of the forum.
Most people in in red states in this country believe that a solid few tens of thousand people dying every year (maybe a few more if they are school children) due to guns is a small price to pay for a fucking free for all in terms of gun ownership.

This Mexico team doesn't have one player that scares you.
Collectively, they scare you to death.

Saving Private Ryan
Watched it for the upteenth time. Still get emotional every time I see it. I still remember the first time I saw it at it’s release in the theater. The crowd was in complete silence as we left. With each viewing I see something or hear something new each time.
Such a great movie.
some beautiful set pieces.
A true masterwork.
But everything past the visceral opening scene and the sine parts of the terrific tank/final battle scene is vapid waster of cinematic bravado when all is said and done.

Not sure if I'm digging that observation, or disturbed by it. Because I gotta admit.....Hunter may be bringing a BIT more to the table than ole Brisket does.

I know there are still climate change deniers, but it seems to me that there might be some way that reduced emissions, especially if couched in market solutions, might be a subject that there could be some bipartisanship on.
Everything is divisive. Some things are less divisive than others. To me those would be Hank Williams, burritos, and a slightly cleaner earth.

I'm thinking that the best most of us can do is to just ignore Trump. Not because it's not possible that he will get the nomination. I genuinely think that he feeds off of ANY attention given to him by his enemies.
I'm not going to play as big a part in that as I did last time around

Pos rep for the Cesar Romero reference. WWII Coast Guard vet. Served as enlisted because he wanted to be "one of the guys" and reached Chief Boatswain's Mate. Saw action during the invasions of Tinian and Saipan.
Was killed when he got hung up on a tree, trying to parachute in with a group that was going to try to kill a bunch of Nazi high command guys up in a vacation ski lodge. Only three made it out in the mission alive.

Say what you want about DeSantis, but he's not stupid.
Supporting Desantis is stupid. Supporting Trump is stupid.
Desantis, like Cruz, has IQ. All three mentioned above are revolting humans.

From Strength to Strength - Arthur C. Brooks 2022
Nice easy read about getting your shit together as your start thinking about retiring/face career burnout. It's annoying having all the examples be about billionaire entrepreneurs burning out (so sad!) but there are some very general straightforward kernels of wisdom for those of us who feel iike they have been letting life go by while planning for other things.

Well, wife made another exec decision and it's (Kilkenny). So Dubliin to Kilarney and thence to Kilkenny and back to Dublin as base locations.
Driving should be easy. Her thought when I was pushing for heading up past Galway -- "we're old -- I want to just take it easy".

Daughter still terrified of No Face from Spirited Away.

Go to Killarney, stay at Cahernane House, https://www.cahernane.com/en/
Done. Wife surprised me. Staying four days in Kallarny as prime base camp. Surprised me because she is usually very on the coast oriented, but she said "Dingle is just forty miles away.". We are actually going to end up staying in Dublin (Grand Hotel Malahide) on the front and back end of the trip. Which leaves us with two days for somewhere else.
Suggestions?

Yeah, I'm developing these weird coping mechanisms. Like everytime we elect an asshole Republican, some poor kid in Massachusetts gets a puppy.
