  1. Meyer represents House District 108 which encompasses parts of Downtown Dallas, Uptown Dallas, East Dallas (including portions of the M Streets and Lakewood), Preston Hollow, North Dallas, Lake Highlands, the City of University Park, and the Town of Highland Park. Judging from my Lake Highlands neighbors, it's a bit more Repub than if it were just Highland Park. Not sure how much East Dallas it gets.
  2. Yeah, Morgan Meyer pisses me off sometimes but he's one of the better ones. He'd benefit from a more balanced legislature.
  3. Well, whatever comes of this, I hope Nathan Johnson gets a bump. Not sure if he's interested in a bigger statewide office. He's a family man. Someday, God willing, he may want to be Governor.
  4. Apathy is a killer, but it feel like using it is a cop out. It's sugar coating how fucked up the voters are.
  5. One of the things keeping me sane is that people have to be ignoring Texas politics. The alternative is terrifying. https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2017/07/10/americas-future-is-texas
  6. George H. W. Bush shat this guy out when he ate some bad cheese enchiladas.
  7. It's not civil war, it's a motley group of partisans looking for small victories against an occupying force of huns (GOP). I don't want Paxton to skate. If he loses, it's the equivalent of me putting laxative in the potato soup of a bunch of German officers and not getting caught. We're like the dutch in WWII.
  8. This is all academic, no. Isn't it generally assumed that Paxton skates? Because the GOP has condemned this state to one hundred years of misery and we do not have a second opportunity on earth.
  9. Barring a huge jump in minimum wage law, doesn't the market just eventually take care of "32 hours of work for 40 hours of pay"? Seems a really silly way to frame the issue. It's also not a salary. It's an hourly wage.
  10. Was this the about the HR guy who got hammered? (During and probably after his cross.)
  11. Lyrics aren't completely applicable, but still good song.
  12. South Austin -- but I don't get it. Doesn't granting directed verdict make Patrick an instant hero among the idiot Republicans who run the state, and create sustaining liberal tears that will carry Republicans through the next election cycle? I'm not jesting.
  13. Yep. What I have learned from this process is that Rusty is old.
  14. Why "subject to recall"? I realize he can call him in his case, but didn't he just waive cross?"
  15. Damn. I've been waiting all day to post "Would".
  16. Question to trial lawyers, especially if you've worked with these Paxton attorneys. Are they tending to be bigger assholes than normal just because of the forum? In other words, they normally would be better behaved in front of a judge and jury?
  17. When you don't know much about a case is about, the lawyers can look pretty sumbitchy.
