I hate that a fuckload of people do not contribute shit to this country, yet have the gall to throw stones at those who worked their way to the top about what they “owe”.

You hate a fuckload of people who have the gall to throw stones at your imaginary group of snowflakes?

    Rigorous as fuck analysis.

Oh man I thought Devil in the White City was fantastic.  I thought it was his best work.  I liked Dead Wake a lot too.  Didn't like the Hitler one at all.  All the rest I enjoyed.

    Have Thunderstruck on the tablet.

  3. The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair That Changed America by Erik Larson (2003) (Audio)

He's just a flat out terrific goddamn writer, but ultimately the promise of the first few chapters sort of faded away, and while it was good and interesting story throughout, it didn't have the dramatic, simple arc of Isaac's Storm (to be honest, I may have just wanted more gore.)  Did learn a hell of a lot and lots of interesting factoids.

  4. There should be a minimum check that every person pays - even if it's a $100 bucks.    In other words, even if you are getting a refund, you have to send in your check.  If you owe more than $100 bucks, then you are fine - you write that check. There needs to be a point where everyone thinks about paying the taxes even if they have reviewed their pay stub every pay period.

Then every tax payer should get the equivalent of a corporate annual report that tells where all the money came in and where it went.

Barrett, on the other hand, has been deeply committed for her entire life to the cause of ending legal abortion and I don't think she cares about anyone outside of her church liking her.

Yeah, Barrett is Wendy Byrde.  She only has to say "We are so close." about four more weeks.

    Human life has intrinsic value.

No. I don't think political or legislative actions will produce viable solutions to the issue.

Okay, then that means you are against state imposed limitations on abortion.  That was pretty easy.

If I wanted to kill my 2 day old child and just bury it in my back yard because I didn't want it, I don't think that would fall under any "privacy" rights.  Why should 2 days before it's born be different?  or replace 2 days with 8 months...

If you are in the realm of privacy rights under the constitution, that's a terrible argument because the constitution protects persons who are born.  I'm okay with you popping off about moral arguments, but if we are talking about legal "rights" this is a terrible take.

Every privacy analysis would conclude that once the baby is born, there are no more privacy rights related to intimacy and reproduction. So in terms of privacy, one day before is very different than one day after.

The only thing funnier than watching the surly lawyer contingent flail about over the products of the legal system is watching them act like they understand the application of biomedical ethical principles.

I don't think I'm flailing so much as not addressing irrelevant points.

What's your overriding position on this issue Anastasis?  The state should have the right to determine whether a woman takes the child to term?

  9. I want someone to perfect implantation of zygotes into men and then I want the mother to have the right to transfer the fetus into the genetic father's body in the third trimester.

Not really. You ban the sale or prescription of any birth control in the state. Sure, people can get it out of state and bring it back, but you just criminalize possession or trafficking that’s a real barrier to most.

They are going to start finding people trying to cross the border with condoms filled with condoms stuffed up their butts.

    Amélie

I have had it in my library for years, but I do not believe I ever sat down to watch it.  I needed some inspiration in planning a day in Montmartre.  It is a delightful movie.

You'd like A Very Long Engagement if you liked Amelie.

  12. Ugg, I'm sure it's all been said.  Two seasons too long.

Unless you are just an outstanding series, or you are doing an epic project (the Wire), keep it to three seasons.

  13. In Richardson ISD (Lake Highlands, etc.) it looks like one of the two anti-CRT types were beaten back.  I thought both of the scaremongers would win so I'm feeling okay today.

It's not particularly true in POTUS races, at least nationally, but might be more of an issue in Texas.  The 2020 race (non included in the chart below) went 59/38 Biden/Trump, which is a significant change for the worse.

If everyone voted like that in Texas, we wouldn't be having this or most of our threads, puto.

Clean your own house up, bitches.

I get that, but what I don't get is why they're voting for people who really make no distinction between illegal immigrants and Hispanics that are US citizens.  They're voting for people who would absolutely love to round up all the brown people and deport them to Mexico, regardless of whether that's where they're "from" or not.
