  1. There was a flick called Lean on Pete a while back that it kind of reminded me of. Although Leave No Trace was lots happier.
  2. Stop trying to make "HFC" a thing. Spell out "assholes" or "gang of moronic assholes".
  3. Leave No Trace (2018) It's a movie about camping. When you stay more than one night and bring more than granola bars and a handful of slim jims.
  4. More importantly, harping on the stupidity only gains you support from those on your side. Look like you give a shit about government. Let the opposing side throw feces at each other. I love the way the Dems are handling themselves. it would be cool if they could make a miracle happen, and get a Dem speaker, but if not, the Repubs are hurting themselves. The Dems have the message when it matters - next election cycle in purple districts.
  5. I'll be honest. I think LBJ was a truly great man. Flawed but great. I'm very proud that we have his library. But the only reason I ever visit is to see that animatronic statue tell jokes. I would be all in on a Trump library that was all animatronic.
  6. Although I'll admit to only putting Raiders up on a pedestal.
  7. I've not seen any much of the Marvel Universe stuff and certainly not any Spiderman. Just not interested. That's what I think of as blockbusters. Green Book isn't a blockbuster.
  8. Indiana Jones (the first one) is a pretty necessary watch. Like a lot of people, I went with no expectations not knowing anything about it. The four best popcorn flicks I ever experience in the theater were probably this, Jaws, Alien, and The Right Stuff.
  9. Forrest Gump was fine as a first watch. It was damn clever. Shawshank is overrated, cloying drivel. If you believe that, then when you watch it 25 years from now you might enjoy it a little.
  10. See Birdman. The rest of that shit you can put on your assisted living movie bucket list. Shakespeare in Love gets an honorable mention because I live in a household of women and it's one of the few we all watched together, so that was nice.
  11. Kicking and Screaming (1995) A discussion of Noah Baumbach on one of the other threads (or this) made me watch this again when I saw it on Netflix. This is a helluva debut I think. It's incredibly evocative of pre-internet liberal arts ennui. Plus I really dug d'Abo. She and her retainer had something going on.
  12. Literally what my manager tells his manager every year when he tries to squeeze out a little Christmas bonus for me. C'mon, man!
  13. Just because they scare me to death doesn't mean we don't win by three touchdowns.
  14. Easy fix. Stop supporting the NFL. The world was a better place when you were either for Rutgers or Princeton or no one.
  15. I love Wes but didn't like this movie. The two leads weren't in the league of Anderson's usual great leads. I don't like Wes' overall dog body count, either. Royal T's overcame that (great leads). This one didn't.
  16. Tar (2022) Boy this is an icy cold flick. Cate Blanchett has always been an alien being -- she raises my blood pressure and stresses me the fuck out, but she's pretty dam good in this. A tough and trying watch but I guess if you like intense acting, she certainly fills the bill. Todd Field has directed some good, cold hearted movies.
  17. If we are getting into nice people acting mean, the BK in Sexy Beast.
  18. Talk to Her, White Ribbon, Punch Drunk Love, children of men, Roma, A Prophet,... You leave a lot of stuff out by not just making it 21st century.
