So at what point is this fuckery a direct violation of our states constitution? It is part of our state governments mandate to "make suitable provision for the support and maintenance of an efficient system of public free schools"
Your UT degrees aren't going to be worth shit in a couple of years.

Cannot encourage peeps to get one enough. I did my first one back in 2014....scored a 70 and my GP said, work on your diet, etc. fast-forward to last year it was something like 700 or a 1000. Went to a Cardiologist and he ordered a Nuke Strees test which showed a healthy heart but Arterial Occlusion. went to the CATH Lab...LAD was 100% occluded, CRX was 90%, RCA was over 80%. Mind you....I felt great and had no outward signs of heat issues.
Want to know what the survivability rate is for a LAD Cardiac Event if you are not in a Cardiac Care center? 12%
I had three stents put in, in and out the same day, two sessions. Now its as if they were not occluded. crazy shit
Sweet Jesus.
How have the stents limited any of your activity? Although my GP wanted me to just see what the statins and weight loss did, and didn't recommend seeing a cardiologist, he agreed when I told him I was ruminating and surfing the web and freaking out a bit.
I don't kill myself in the gym, but I enjoy a 15 mile bike ride and a 20K steps walk and a 2000 yard swim without really thinking about it. If you told me I could continue those activities even with stents/bypass, I probably wouldn't be so anxious.

Yeah, from a dietary standpoint, the biggest issue I have, now that I've gone from thinking all I have to do is not be stupid is now to be proactively smart, is going to be the baked goods. I've always been a bread guy, and now I'm trying to limit myself to some whole grain stuff as a treat now and then. Yay avocado toast.
I got to an Iraqi bakery to pick up Samoon bread, so I'm gong to have to figure out if that can play into things a bit.
My GP told me not to worry, that as long as I was feeling healthy, and still losing weight, he didn't think I'd need increased testing or referrel to a cardiologist unless I had issues with getting the LDL down after taking the statin or just developed some other issues.
I'm thinking with the test results I got, I am going to feel better finding a good young cardiologist who is not going to retire before I win the Cenenarian Decathalon.

I got one. It was high. Basically, if you get a bad one, you never need one again, because the next time you'll need a coronary angiogram to check for blockage.
If you scored well, I assume its up to you as to how often you get one.

Fabelmans (2022)
Pretty disappointing I thought. I thought the problem was the two lead parents. But mostly Spielburg's usual gift for the comedy of youth seemed really spotty at best.
I thought the Aggie Christian girl was the only great thing in the film.

Seems like a good opportunity for smart person to open a Revolutionary Bookstore nearby to sell banned books and some light porn.

Since this is a board about living the good life and also eating lots of red meat, you guys need to go get your calcium scoring test done. Quick little CT scan, not covered by insurance (but only $100 bucks). Gives you an idea of the calcium in your heart, and thus the plaque buildup. I got my first one today and I'm on ArmyBrat's side of the temporal fence, and I'm pissed that I didn't take this earlier. The numbers aren't pleasing. My LDLs were only recently just a tad over normal but I've got some ugly numbers. It would have been nice to get a scare in my 30s or 40s so I could have gotten the scare a bit earlier.
Anyway, Peter Attia is all about the early testing so this is an inexpensive test. Go get it.

Trump: I’m scared to go to Ireland.
What an alpha.
We just got back from Ireland last month, and a big surprise was on the way driving back to Dublin, our gas gauge was at 3/4 full, so my wife was panicking about petrol. We pulled off at Moneygall, and were delighted to end up at the Obama Travel Plaza. It was totally unexpected and fucking great. Would love to see one in Waco.

I'm hoping Biden gets his own Plaza.

Different time, different set of facts on the ground now. A fine symbolic gesture, though. Should provide material for much self-congratulation.
Somewhere between symbolic gestures and reasonable gun control is where negotiation and legislation are supposed to happen. The Republicans aren't even attempting to engage in that.

Empire of Light (2022)
I really liked this flick. The time setting for me made it great and gave it an emotional punch.

It's fucking bad everywhere. Even in the place it shouldn't be. (American) Christianity is too accepting of hate and bigotry and does nothing to reign in or speak against it's worst members
Pretty much add every other institution and most people as being too accepting of hate. Mainstream, non-evangelical churches tend to obey the tax rules and avoid pontificating in the media, let alone from the pulpit. I would say they, on the whole, try to encourage individuals to act in a non-hateful way.

I guess netted out, the evangelicals have stolen all the oxygen in the room, so some pretty anti-Christian and religious sentiments an understandably acceptable short cut.
As someone who was a Catholic for 18 years and then has dabbled with soft-shelled Methodism since then, I've found it pretty easy not to be controlling or prosletyzing or anti-science, and by and large I haven't been involved in particular congregations that have encouraged individuals to engage in that behavior.

Religion is not a tool for understanding anything. It’s a tool for controlling people’s behavior.
You seem willing to give science a broad definition but your pretty set on a silly and absolutely counter-intuitive definition of religion on the other. (I'm not expecting you to read all my posts, but this is especially true since I only joined this threat to speak of the benefits of metaphorical truth.) Most definitions rely on faith or worship. Clearly, it is relatively easy to find a church or denomination which is not dominated by control of others. Certainly it's easy to find Christian denominations who aren't remotely anti-science.
The abuse of any large organization will lead to "controlling peoples behavior". You certainly will admit that scientific dogma has attempted to control other scientists.
It is good that you stopped, because you were basically defining your terms to fit your preconceived ideas.

I think it's simpler than that. I think they feel like they can get people who actually like this shit to move here. You keep the home grown minorities down and uneducated and replenish the white power areas with assholes who want to move to an asshile state.
