You’re telescoping a couple of centuries of development there, though. The only colony advocating separation of church and state early on was Rhode Island-established as a refuge because Roger Williams was expelled from Massachusetts as a heretic, precisely because the Puritans did NOT believe in it.
Of course that's your contention. You're a first year grad student. You just finished some Marxian historian, Pete Garrison probably, and so naturally that's what you believe until next month when you get to James Lemon and get convinced that Virginia and Pennsylvania were strongly entrepreneurial and capitalist back in 1740. That'll last until sometime in your second year, then you'll be in here regurgitating Gordon Wood about the Pre-revolutionary utopia and the capital-forming effects of military mobilization.

Shouldn’t Christians be working from the New Testament as their reference material?

Look, I'm not saying the Puritans wouldn't have established a theocracy. I'm just saying that they ultimately didn't -- they just hung a few Quakers. They founded Harvard and were the Congregationalists, and we know how liberal those guys became.
The separation of church and state as a political idea was taking hold.

I get the distorted view of the 2nd amendment. I disagree with it, but I get it.
But this religious nationalism -- fuck, I thought we were over that by the time the Puritans came over. No, we weren't over wacky hardcore burning witches religion -- I just thought that we were kind of over the the idea of a theocracy doing the burning.

About to be indicted by the Dept. of Justice/U.S. Marshal Service, State of Georgia/whatever GA stateys are called, and possibly State of New York/Albany AG.
Not that I'm not all for it, but based on my sitting the fuck around waiting for them to act...

I don't think it would be, and I get your point. But the Legion of Dumb is going to bitch no matter what. Now if the judge were related to Stormy (like say her "step-brother"), had produced one of her fine films, or had left a review of one of said films on Rotten Tomatoes or the like, it might be a little closer of a question.

Anyone else old enough to remember Gary Hart getting caught in an affair? He was launched into the sun and never heard from again. Trump actually fucking a porn star isn't/wasn't even a scandal. He could have talked openly about it in October of 2016 and still won the election.
Monkey business >>>> fucking a porn star

All this focus on Trump just such basic Republican playbook stuff. Get outraged about this while the Repubs focus on school board and local stuff and putting God back in the classrooms.
Hypnotize Dems with Trump. Focus on school boards and local elections. Profit.
If Dems put their efforts into only the most local politics, the Repubs would never have been able to show their true colors.

I think it is not very likely. However, I'm glad they are going to let the justice system play out on this one.
I really want the other indictments to follow asap, and feel the same way. I am doubtful of convictions, but there is enough out there to put indicate him on many of his actions.

I for one would love a bunch of bounty hunters to go after Trump.

I used to be a DOL lawyer and got to go down into a coal mine to see a longwall near Beckley, WV. Holy shit, that was dark.
I am claustrophobic as fuck now - don't think I could do that again.

As to testifying, I didn't know Pecker would.

If we hit our 2s I think we win by 7-10. If we struggle with our 2s probably 1-3 point win.

Don't waive the CDW coverage on the rental car if that's in your plans. You really are going to hit the curb.

Educated by Tara Westover (2018)
Okay, I admired the woman but at some point relatively early in the book I just got to the point where I couldn't tolerate her asshole family or her attempts to stick it out. I empathize with it and I completely understand it, but it made the book a bit frustrating.

Slogging through "big wonderful thing" by Stephen Harrington. Really well done and I appreciate that he doesn't shrink from controversial subjects. And I only say slogging because it's over 800 pages
It's a really terrible title and cover. I mean, I don't think a cowboy has to be on the cover or Texas in the title, but you look down at the thing and there is no impetus to pick it up. I bought it for my son in law, and am going to start reading it when I go over to visit.

My report back:
Stayed in Malahide (North of Dublin and just a tad north of the airport) at the Grand Hotel Malahide for start and end of trip. Great location. Can take a DART train right into city center and the suburb is pretty and has some nice pubs and close to Howth. The hotel was basic but had a fun health club and so I took a sauna with the local lads each night we were there. Good place to stay because good warmup drive from airport.
Drove to Kikenny (wife drove - my job was to tell her every 10 minutes that she was going to hit a curb) but mostly big moterway.Stayed at the Mount Juliet Estate - a golf resort and it may be the best all around hotel I have ever stayed. A bit of a way from Kilkenny but an easy drive. The hotel grounds had great walking paths as well and a good steam room to steam out the Guiness. The town was crawling with Purdue folks who were there for a pre-St. Pats parade which ultimately got cancelled.
Thence to Killarney and a stay at the Cahernane House. Fantastic all around. Could walk to town and National Park just a couple of kilomters away. Really liked the town and the accessiblity to all around Killarney and Ring of Kerry. We actually didn't drive down into the smaller roads that led down to the water in the area but that would have just taken some patience and a few deep breaths.
I'm glad we didn't do a tour. The hotels we stayed at apart from Grand Hotel Malahide (which was still very very nice) were pretty damn high end -- if it were me I probably would have economized on that and just ate pub food. But the people were so helpful that we enjoyed our own pace and just going to sites based on local recommendations.
If I did it again I might do something like try to get to Galway by train or bus and then rent a car there rather than drive the whole country, but if the car price doesn't bother you, I thought the car made sense. The bus and train schedules and routes to me weren't very convenient when I looked closely at them.
The weather looked scary on paper when we were planning for mid March but once there it was perfect -- a bit of rain every day, wet, but sun peaking in now and then. Waterproof light hiking shoes, travel pants, fleece top, beenie and raincoat did the trick.
Lovely. Grand.
