  1. The driver has been arrested.
  2. About 25 years ago I was out on my road bike coming back on a training ride out to Hutto and back. I was on the Sprinkle Cut Off road, which was a narrow road that was twisty and winding and hilly and there was absolutely no room for anybody to pass me safely, so I was out in the middle of the lane. I'd already ridden about 40 miles and was tiring. As I was going up a hill this jerkoff in a pickup comes up behind me and starts gunning his engine, like he was going to run me over. I was doing probably 18 mph, hammering really, and there was no place to safely pull over. And back then I was in my "screw you, I have every legal right to this road" stage. So I kept my line. Dude keeps revving his motor and I was getting pissed off. I got up to Ferguson, made that right turn on to Ferguson, and it's a screaming downhill all the way to Cameron/Dessau. Dude was still right behind me but now he's not revving because I'm doing about 40 and he can't really go any faster than that. I got up to Cameron and right there Ferguson split into two lanes. I was making a left so I pulled up to the stop sign in the left lane. Dude pulls up in the right lane and I can see it's a burly sheetrock worker with a burly sheetrock worker friend in a 1975 Ford truck that look like it had been beat with a tire iron. I can also see that he's holding a 16 oz Busch beer in a brown paper bag. His window is rolled down and he says, in a thick, Texas drawl, "Hey little buddy' you's impedin' the flow of traffic." Now, at that moment, normally, I would have launched into my lecture about how I'm a vehicle and how in that situation ---- one narrow lane going both directions with no shoulder ---- I'm legally allowed to be in the middle of the lane and that allowing somebody to pass me would be unsafe blah blah blah. But I realized I was in my spandex and cleats and that they'd probably jump out of that truck and beat the hell out of me before I could even get off my bike. And I don't know how or where this came from or what came over me but a divine spirit seized me and I said, in an equally thick Texas drawl, "Well, the road is long and the road is narrow and all God's children gots to pass." And suddenly, the glower in his face softened as he contemplated my wise, peaceful words, which called on the inherent Christian, godly nature he no doubt thought he had, and he smiled, nodded, and said "Well that's all right, little buddy," then raised his 16 oz Busch beer in a brown paper bag to toast me. Beat down averted.
  3. AI can't spell for some reason.
  4. No kidding. What has happened to us, collectively? Where are our priorities?
  5. Super impressive kid. Does Sark know what he's doing when it comes to QB evaluations or what?
  6. Well, we did wholeheartedly support her when she decided to get that boob job and then showed the results of the transformation.
  7. I think he was the best player in history.
  8. That was outstanding. Sark talking about all the changes that they've had to navigate brings me around to this conclusion: I think he's conceptualized what is happening and the impact of that better than any other college coach. He may have some deficiencies but, in terms of grasping what's required to have an outstanding program in this new era and utilizing the tools available to him to bring about a successful outcome, I don't think there's anybody better.
  9. Bradley Wiggins broke, bankrupt, homeless: https://cyclinguptodate.com/cycling/it-is-a-mess-he-has-lost-everything-absolutely-everything-sir-bradley-wiggins-homeless-after-filing-for-bankruptcy
  10. I drove over my own phone --- twice. Heard this huge crunching sound, immediately stopped, got out, looked all around my truck .. couldn't see anything (phone was under my tire), packed up a few feet further, turned my wheels (I was in a parking garage on a slope), managed to run over it a second time, got out, and this time it was visible. It was in my pants pocket as I was getting in my truck and it must have squeezed out, like a pimple. In retrospect, I heard it clatter, but I was in downtown Austin and there was all kinds of ambient noise from the street and other cars in the garage and I barely heard it and certainly didn't pay any attention to it. You don't feel dumb until you drive over your own phone.
  11. Binged the entire second season of Tour De France unchained. MUCH better than season one. Way more access to more teams, explains to novices the tactics of the race much better etc ... Still so sad about Gino Madur.
  12. Scheduled to go on his official to Ohio State next weekend.
  13. Tilmon is 6'1", 190 and has run a 10.71 hundred meters. Can't find anything for Cunningham, but just watched his highlights. He can run. If Nance can get Bo Barnes to stick, Pettijohn to commit and Cunningham to commit, I think he'd be a very happy camper. After this season we will only have four scholarship linebackers on the roster.
  14. Texas Monthly has a good article re: who might buy Infowars. At the end they speculate that an Infowars hater might buy it and using the strength of its brand name, turn it into a disinformation clearinghouse. That be be a hugely unlikely end to the saga.
  15. Holy crap. Quite a bruise. Wait for it.
  16. That's probably a smart move on Brown's part. He can STILL change his mind after this visit, but if he wants to drive up his NIL offer from Texas before leaving, announce that he's going to take an official visit next weekend to Texas' most hated rival.
  17. New York Times: CPI lower than expectations, job market like "WOW!" ... Will it be enough for Biden?
  18. Glen Campell's daughter, Ashley Campbell, is gorgeous and talented and Carl Jackson is one of those musicians who can shred on any stringed instrument, including, as he does here, guitar. This is one of the greatest country songs ever written. It's an odd observation, but Ashley Campbell may have the most flawless skin I've ever seen. When Joe Ely and Uncle Tupelo take on Waylon Jennings.
