  1. No longer worried about people's finances as my neighbors seemingly spent thousands on fireworks.
  2. Remco is going to win pretty easily. Vingo loses 25 seconds or so to Pogo.
  3. Vingo losing time to Roglic. Jorgenson really did well.
  4. Did Remco lose his chain?
  5. Roglic fastest time so far at the second time check. Vingo 8 seconds down to Pogecar at first time check.
  6. Holy crap. Vingo put 10 seconds into Roglic at the first time check, then Remco put 10 seconds into Vingo. Remco is REALLY flying.
  7. Vingo looking fast. What an ugly helmet. Pogo on the road. Remco flying.
  8. Jorgenson doing well so far.
  9. Should be an epic TT today. Sets up well for Evenepoel.
  10. They can make their reservation for the play-offs. They just can’t HOLD their reservation for the play-offs.
  11. I want to believe. Where can I send you my money?
  12. We had a 1969 Buick Electra 225 with a 430 cubic inch engine. It actually occupied two zip codes.
  13. Holy crap ... check out the bunny hop Axel Zingle did over Pederson in the bunch sprint.
  14. Not so fast, my friends!
  15. I wonder if Vingo just doesn't go as fast because he's a bit gun shy after his huge crash. I would be.
  16. Damn ... the best porterhouse steak I ever had in my life was at Gibson's on Rush street.
  17. Do you need a drunken Irish folk singer?
  18. Michael Corcoran has died. He was a one-of-a-kind music critic for decades here in Austin, a gadfly in the best sense of the word. He knew everybody and everything about everybody. He was a badass that even to be an object of his scorn was somehow special. I saw him at a Shinyribs show in early May but I spoke with him on the phone less than two weeks ago when he called to tell me that he'd heard Jewel Brown was ailing. He was also a scholar: his books "All Over the Map" and "Ghost Notes" are two of the best books ever written about Texas music. I crib from them for Traces of Texas all the time, shamelessly. I told him so and he said "I wouldn't have it any other way." He was just about to finish a third one about Austin music history. It was to be published in early September. His essays on all manner of Texas music were definitive. One of my readers said that, when somebody dies, we lose a library. With Michael's death, we're losing not just a library but a museum. I am heartbroken. Damn. RIP Corky.
  19. While I appreciate the sentiment, that seems like wishcasting. Oklahoma may not be in the Southeast, but they are directly north of the DFW metroplex, which has 8.2 million people --- and that doesn't include talent-rich East Texas. They'll get theirs.
  20. Pederson really misjudged how far it was to the finish. He had it with 100 meters left but started to wilt just a little bit and Girmay surged past him. Great stage win for Biniam and for Intermarché-Wanty
  21. Seems like Farrell doesn't think Texas can destroy the SEC. I take that kind of personally.
