Absolutely worth it. I pay for the premium that allows me to be towed up to 200 miles because God knows where I'll be when I can't start my car.
A few years ago I got a rental pickup truck to go on a photo safari. I was in West Texas at Mitre Peak when I locked my keys in the truck. I couldn't believe it. I was tempted to bash the window out with a rock. I called Triple A and it took about two hours (it was a Sunday afternoon) but they sent somebody from Fort Stockton who had a slim jim and got me into the truck in no time. I don't know what the replacement cost of a passenger window in a brand new Dodge Ram truck would have been, but I was glad to see that dude.
DeMarvion Overshown turning heads.
From the Dallas Morning News:
OXNARD, Calif. — Mike McCarthy casually tossed out the names of a few players who have gotten off to strong starts in this camp while chatting with reporters after his press conference.
Some of those names will come as no surprise to fans.
Others probably will.
Let’s start with defense. The Cowboys’ head coach said veteran corner Jourdan Lewis “is having a hell of a camp’' and quickly followed by mentioning corner DaRon Bland. McCarthy loves the way the entire safety group is playing.
But the first player he mentioned on that side of the ball is linebacker DeMarvion Overshown, who is coming off a torn ACL that ended his rookie season before it began.
“Overshown jumps off the tape at you,’’ McCarthy said. “No question there.’’
It’s not a question for Micah Parsons either.
“Overshown has been unbelievable,’’ Parsons said. “I think he’s more confident and stronger than he was before he tore his ACL. He’s coming downhill, he’s being aggressive, he understand his reads.
“You can just see the confidence in him growing. He’s getting more reps with the ones. They’re ready to get him out there. “I think he’s going to have an unbelievable year.’’
Leon Marchand lives and trains in Austin and his coach, Bob Bowman, is the head coach of the Texas Longhorns men's swim team and trained Michael Phelps, so I think the gold medal by proxy rule comes into play in a few of these events.
In fairness, 1) the post is titled "tell me about OU." 2) folks rarely ask for others to post anything around here. Most everything posted is a function of a poster saying to himself "I should add this to this thread." If it sucks, he is usually informed. But nobody has ever asked for any of my sorry takes. I offer them freely, out of the goodness of my heart.
Okay ... this sounds weird but their chocolate hummus is pretty tasty. I put it on one side of a toasted muffin and some cold cream cheese on the other and it's righteous.
The one thing I'm taking away is how awesome Victor Campenaerts is. Not so much as a cyclist but just as a human being. His emotion after winning stage 18, his "cooking with Victor Campenaerts" videos on YouTube (which I didn't know about until this Tour), his training videos --- all of them show him to be a genuine, funny, self-deprecating human being and all-around good guy.
There's going to be A LOT of switching of commitments between now and the first signing day. Mark it down. October, November and December will be unlike anything we've ever seen. Many of these recruits have been promised money that simply doesn't exist.
