  1. SIAP: Here's a lengthy article from the Daily Nebraskan. Pretty good analysis:
  2. Exactly what it said: to offer that one of the greatest historians of the 20th century felt that 1) Islam and modernity are fundamentally opposed and that 2) in 1984, there were no countries in which Muslims comprised a sizeable minority were not experiencing strife because, in his view, Islam and modernity of that fundamental incompatibility. That's all. It's like saying "Darrell Royall said that three things can happen when you try to pass the ball, and two of them are bad." That statement doesn't indicate that the person offering up DKR's observation on forward passes has his own opinion. No. He's commenting that one view of forward passes is that of DKR. That's it.
  3. I didn't offer anything in defense of Texas Hammer's post, or even reference it. Have you been drinking?
  4. K.J. Jefferson is in the portal. One year of eligibilty left.
  5. There is not one Islamophobic aspect on my part to my recitation of what A.J.P. Taylor said. And he was certainly no reactionary.
  6. He could have jumped on a Texas offer. Now it appears he's lost that offer. So his decision-making skills are questionable. Do you want a guy like that on the field in crunch time?
  7. Isn't the point that Christianity has (mostly) moved beyond that? I was at a sherry drinking event with UT's eminent Roger Louis, A.J.P. Taylor, Martin Gilbert etc... in 1984 at U.T. It was only about a month before Taylor's accident. Taylor made the observation that Islam and modernity are fundamentally opposed and that there are no countries in which Muslims comprised a sizeable minority that were not experiencing strife because, fundamentally, Islam can't accept the practice of other religions. Louis and Gilbert both thought about it and rather agreed, I think. One of the greatest nights of my life. I was such a young whipperschnapper.
  8. Somebody said there was a Star Wars sequel and I'm like "What? The Death Star got blown up by Luke Skywalker, dude. Ain't going to be a sequel."
  9. Yeah, why should he get special privileges? Sark looks good out on the trail.
  10. Saturday Night Fever III was even better than Saturday Night Fever II.
  11. Herbstreit likes Sark, personally. It's apparent when he talks about him. So, Herbstreit may be a douche waffle, but it's nice that he'll be supporting Texas going forward.
  12. More voter fraud in The Villages. https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/maddowblog/another-republican-convicted-voter-fraud-florida-gop-stronghold-rcna128551 "A resident from The Villages was found guilty of charges related to voter fraud in the 2020 election on Monday. Robert Rivernider Jr., 58, is accused of signing his father’s name to a vote-by-mail ballot. According to Sumter County Elections Supervisor Bill Keen, Rivernider’s father died on Oct. 19, 2020."
  13. Florida man arrested for defecating on a romantic rival's truck. Where else but The Villages? https://www.villages-news.com/2023/02/15/romantic-rival-arrested-after-allegedly-defecating-on-vehicle-of-executive-in-the-villages/ "It appeared the damage had taken place at about 10:30 p.m. on Super Bowl Sunday ..."
