  1. I had a long talk with a guy who has 40,000 different T-shirt designs for sale on Ebay and Etsy. He lives in Georgetown. The artists for the shirts are in Morocco (of all places) and they steal whatever they want from wherever they want ---- Disney designs/characters etc... They give no shits about U.S. federal trademarks, let alone state trademarks. They design and print the shirts in Morocco. They are untraceable and unreachable for all intents and purposes. All he and his wife do is take delivery at their storage warehouse and ship them. He told me they're selling about 1500 T-shirts per day. Let Plonsky try to go after the Moroccans.
  2. Auto insurance rates up an average of almost 24 percent across Texas last year: "There’s a good bet that we haven’t seen anything quite like this, because if you’re having 24% increases, those can be pretty intolerable. And then when you look at, you know, you look at some of the insurers, the numbers are even larger. So if you take GEICO, which is one of the leading auto insurers, their average rates were up 54%. Allstate, another top provider, 38%, and Farmers 32%. So that’s just to give you a little bit of a picture of what’s going on." https://www.texasstandard.org/stories/car-insurance-rates-highest-annual-increase-20-years/
  3. As a huge fan of Saag Paneer, I welcome our new Indian overlords.
  4. Remember how when Ehlinger was our QB on every Longhorn football broadcast they'd always show the photo of him as a 3-year old doing the Hook 'em Horns gesture? I could see these photos of Gipson and JJR being the same thing. If they play together it will be on every single broadcast.
  5. Just watched Interstellar, the Christopher Nolan film starring Matthew M. What a mind bender. Nolan is a merchant of awe. If you haven't seen it, see it!
  6. Looking at all the teams he played for in the NFL reminded me a bit of a man named Steve Wright, who played in 101 games as an offensive lineman in the NFL, for five different teams over 10 seasons. He played for Bear Bryant at Alabama, then for Vince Lombardi in Green Bay, with Fran Tarkenton as a NY Giant etc.. Anyway, after his NFL career he wrote a book called "I'd Rather be Wright: Memoirs of an Itinerant Tackle". It's one of the best, most hilarious books about pro football you'll ever read. I would think that Jacques' Smith's book would be just as good. Weird note: The NFL Walter Payton award trophy is modeled after Steve Wright.
  7. I must say that I celebrate your appearance on every commitment thread. She's gorgeous.
  8. Deborah Harry is 78 years old today.
  9. Yep. Bama outright bought players for years. Now that others with deeper pockets do the same thing, all they can do is cry to the NCAA.
  10. Season 2, episode 7: the Grand Hotel. If you have Amazon Prime, it's there. I just watched it. Almost didn't recognize Arkin, who gets arrested as a young lover in the hotel in question. He completely disappeared into the role.
  11. Passed away at 89. Favorite AA role? Gotta be Yossarian in Catch-22, right?
  12. So what happens if Biden dies? RFK becomes the leading Democrat candidate by default?
  13. Somebody upthread mentioned how "we'll see if Sark's 3-star specials turn out to succeed at a better rate than any of his predecessors" or something similar. Here's what's different about nowadays: there's just so much more information available to the coaches now. Mack would see somebody in one of his camps and offer based on that. Now there's a whole apparatus whose job it is to sift though data, to make phone calls about players, to talk to coaches, to research their personalities, to watch them in camp videos and then to break those videos down analytically etc ... I bet we'll see that, percentagewise, a great many of Sark's 3-star specials turn out to be diamonds.
  14. I thought this was made up but then I went and took a look. Here's his South Dakota representative page. It appears South Dakota isn't sending its best. https://sdlegislature.gov/Legislators/Profile/4442/Detail
