  1. and I'm surly about it - so it fits here
  2. Every fall the local historical society sets up a cemetery stroll. The largest local cemetery in Alabama dates back to the 1700's. Various people including myself portray and discuss almost 100 of the people buried there. Went to the website to see the photos. Some clueless person decided to post about 100 photos - all in black and white.
  3. I have always said, in airports, if you wouldn't do it in your car - don't do it at the airport. No strolling thru passengers at 90 degrees, no sharp left turns to the gate that force everyone to dodge you.

Still fighting a small gas leak where the gas gauge send unit fits into gas tank. Didn't show up when the garage had the car because we never filled it up. There are 11 (yes 11) screws holding the unit so 11 possible points for leaks. Six hold against the tank and another 5 that hold the resistor section that actually sends the result to the gauge. I took it apart and put a ton of Seal All on new gaskets. I think the 5 are OK but still weeping from the 6. Went back today and added more sealant. I refuse to do this unless temp is above 50 since I am not driving it without a top. Looks like good temp until Saturday. Letting the sealant cure overnight so around Thursday I will pour gas back in. The forum is all over the place on this. I used newer rubber gaskets but some people swear to use the older cork since the factory used that. I have cork so if this doesn't work I can try it. Luckily its winter so I am not missing driving it.
  5. considering how bad the original people were - not exactly a high bar
  6. End of year bonuses get interesting. A few years ago there was a defensive lineman from Auburn who played a couple of years in NFL. Had some huge bonus for something like 3 sacks. Got it late in the 4th quarter. For a while I couldn't figure out why he was going crazy on the field until announcers told us.
  7. No idea if this is related to the new software since I only do this every few years. I decided to change my profile picture. Left click on name at top left and choose Edit Profile. It's not there. Finally figured out you have to left click on name and choose Profile. The choose Edit Profile on top right. Two Edit Profile buttons that do different things is puzzling. Not a big deal since i don;t plan to do this very often
  8. Is that the lift line? If so i am asking for a refund. That's 4-5 runs per day

Finally got it installed. What a pain. I am confident the glass shop reversed the backing plate on the left side. Could only get 3 our of 4 so tried installing. The bolts go thru the side support into the windshield frame. With the side support involved, only got 2 of 4. Removed side support (yay - love lying on my back with head on clutch pedal) and attached it with 3 of 4. Couldn;t reinstall support. Tried first method gain - same result - 2 of 4. Attached side support and used large screwdriver the leverage the bolt holes of the support and finally got the left side attached after two hours of fun.. Went to right side - 4 bolts in less than five minutes which reinforces my thought on the backing plate being reversed. If I ever get another cracked windshield I am making sure the glass shop replaces the plate and attaches the side support before shipping it back.
  10. My first thought is that this should be sponsored by Tupperware. That thing looks like a plastic mess

And of course this was written too quickly. it's only a couple of bolts - like 8 that hold it to the stanchions. There is a strip inside the windshield with threaded holes for the bolts. That plate gets put back when you "build" the new windshield. Off course 7 bolts fit and one is off Right now I plan to go with 7. To move the plate would require disassembling the side of the windshield frame and that was exactly why I sent the frame to the garage. Not their fault. You can see the hole in the frame but the bolt doesn't catch. With hindsight I should have put those bolts in the frame before sending but did not. each side has four bolts. Really can't figure out why three line up and the fourth does not but I doubt it will matter. Going to try one of two things to see if I can move the plate slightly but am not going to disassemble the frame. The only thing behind the plate is the side of the new glass and I have no desire to crack it

Just looked at weather. Later this week is 60/70 so I can reseal gas tank sending unit. Refuse to lie on ground in 20 degree weather plus sealants don't like suring in cold. WooHoo - hopefully back on road for 2025.

Got my new windshield back. And by that I mean I drove to Michigan from Alabama and picked it up. Not trusting UPS on this. All it takes is one drop and right back to where i started. It usually is an easy drive up there but this one had winter rain most of the time. However it is done. Installing should take five minutes - just a few bolts holding the complete windshield to support arms.
  14. Crap. heading to Michigan Wednesday to pick up a windshield for my old car. Right now it is 17 in North Alabama so maybe warmer up there. Just went and grabbed my ski jacket and other stuff for the journey.
  15. I just looked and Marriott has a couple of choices right now. Downtown seems sold out
  16. Mental image from last week of the raccoon passed out by the toilet.
  17. fify - When anyone says it's not about the money, it's definitely about the money.
  18. Jimmy Sexton to white courtesy phone..... Totally depends on contract. A lot of them have specific schools mentioned in their contract with out clauses. It seems a lot of coaches add an "out" for the school they graduated from.
  19. I had a similar statement in writing for my old British MGA. The manual for the carburetors stated - turn this nut until it sounds correct.
  20. Some stuff on AU forum about Sumrall's agent starting an auction with Fla. Auburn went to Golesh and he accepted. Feel sorry for Sumrall's wife- she probably wanted to return to AU. Looking more at Golesh's history and liking it. Born in Russia (actually Soviet Union) but moved the good ole USA as part of the breakup. He has done very well with offense which we need. Saw comments from Huepel at Tennessee that were very promising on a decent offense. Plus someone posted that the current AU quarterbacks came out of the team meeting with big smiles
  21. which is why he wants a 7th or 8th year. Obviously a pay cut in NFL
  22. I wanted Sumrall and wondering what happened there. Grew up in Alabama (same high school at different times), wife graduated from Auburn etc. Guessing with no evidence that Florida money whipped him and Auburn wouldn't match. However it looks like we keep the DC and his defense was pretty good this year. The offense was a dumpster fire until Freeze was let go. There is some talent there if they can get anyone for the OL. I can't remember the exact details but the last few years of Malzahn and Harsin had a total of something like 7 (yes seven) total OL in 5 years. Freeze improved on this but it was so deep in the muck that it still effects us. All the new guy has to do is establish the offense.
  23. Correct but John Towers was a real piece of work. In WW2 the air advocates (both Army and Navy) were convinced that every weapon should be a plane and nothing else was needed.
