  1. Did I miss something? What was the need for two new engines?
  2. Gonna need a new left hip from the added weight on that side of the body
  3. Liked them until i saw the open back. Old school so no way
  4. Someone "stole" 7 lawn bags of old leaves from in front of my house. Maybe "stole" isn't correct but i collected the leaves and, after lunch, put 8 bags on the street for pickup tomorrow . Walked out an hour ago and only one is still there. No clue what someone plans to do with them
  5. It' going to be contest to see which is tougher - the meat or the cutting board
  6. Had a friend do this with socks. Except we worked for IBM and it was business suits only. He put on red hunting socks by accident
  7. You sure? He got the touchdown because the goal line is extended past the pylon. Seems logical that a fumble would have the same extended goaline and be a touchback. Not going to try to look this one up. No clue how to create a search question with an extended goal line
  8. To be fair - I thought that was the rule also. Maybe it is in the NFL but who cares now. However I kept wondering how they chose the one yard line. No where close to where it would be if the rule was what I thought. About the 5 inch line
  9. The definition of Behind Enemy Lines
  10. Pass - no sunken living room "conversation pit"
  11. Might want to check on that ... I think with American it is bigger seat but coach meals. But that might be premium economy. They keep changing the name and I quit travelling when I retired
  12. Possession is 9/10 of the law. Congrats on your new car.
  13. Totally avoid number 1. You probably are aware that salvage titles make it difficult to get rid of later on. Also your insurance may not work.
  14. And forgot to add - can't do the carpet until I get the car back. Probably end of year so I get to do this in cold garage
  15. And more fun to come for the MGA. Otherwise known as carpet. And whatever you think you know from American cars - the British have a totally different idea. A two seat roadster has about 18 different pieces - and that is just to get to the back shelf. It doesn't cover it. Some are glued in and some use lift the dots fasteners. Of course Moss Motors sent me the pieces. You have to install the fasteners. As a very knowledgeable person on the MGA forum put it - no one includes instructions any more since you might mess up and demand a new set. The new versions of the carpet do not have sown edges - you get to trim as needed. This is totally different than my first MGA. Carpet took about half a day and a staple gun. The garage warned me that they usually needed about 15 hours to do it right. Grrrr.....
  16. Not that it is really relevant but getting a long term care policy helps a lot. Mom's paid for this.
  17. That is about what I paid Paint jobs are outrageous now. I could have gotten it cheaper back home but I really liked the idea that the body shop was a few blocks from the garage doing the work. I did not want to be in the middle after getting it back home and finding any issues. Kidded that inflation from when Dad painted it in our garage in early 80's really increased the cost. In reality everything associated with paint is different now. I like your color scheme of black and red but still partial to Iris Blue. Looking at your dash - kinda going Rainman here. Below the gas guage - is that the seldom seen washer control?
  18. and getting farther away After test driving a few times they are convinced the transmission needs new sync;s. I knew 2nd was bad but 3rd joined party. The issue is really the fact that replacement parts suck. They have to perform a bunch of basic tests on them before installing since quality is poor.
  19. Got an email today. The engine started on first try. Now doing break in for the new cam. Getting close
  20. Speaking of engines . May have posted these earlier but the engine in the MGA was a total hot mess. Don't let your car sit around for 15 years. Valve train looks a little rusty Push rods also Not supposed to see this in oil Shop rebuilt pretty much everything. Ready for paint Final painted engine
  21. I had to search but I remembered mentioning that a while back. Did not realize it was post number 3 in this mega thread
  22. While my MGA has Lucas components I am forever glad it is simple - literally two fuses for the entire car. Of course Lucas being the dark prince can still take advantage of it. On my first MGA I was heading down the interstate back to college around midnight and dark as it could be. The headlights turned off and the wipers started working for about 30 seconds and then back to headlights. I was looking around for a UFO nearby.
  23. The corporate motto for Lucas - be home before dark....
