  1. I was at that game. hot as blazes. Had 50 yard line tickets - on like row 3. Remember yelling at Texas bench to sit down so we could see the action. However 1983 is legit (putting on my hardhat after posting). Texas beat us on week 2. Rest of the year we beat something like 7 top ten teams. On New Years Day (actually Jan 2) number 1 and 2 lost. We were 3 and should have easily moved up except for NBC spending the entire month proclaiming the Orange Bowl was for MNC. Never mind that Nebraska and Miami didn't anyone that year. I have always wondered what would have happened if Texas had won. There is a non zero chance that those same people who jumped Miami up would have leapfrogged them over Texas. Rant over.
  2. If you were ever at a business convention in a hotel then you never gave up the analog line if possible. Took so many tries to get a free line that you tried to stay connected for the entire convention if possible.
  3. Well that certainly escalated quickly....
  4. Yep - CVS sent me a text yesterday
  5. They used to be called "crumbs" at least when I was in college. Used to get them every time. However time and lower metabolism makes would make me avoid them today
  6. I just prefer it at 3:00 position if at all. Still love the non date Sub.
  7. Not a fan of any watch that has the date function randomly tossed somewhere on the dial
  8. I was going to post to use 303 but didn't get to it. It is the best. Sometimes hard to find but boat shops have it for the tops on boats so you know it works well in sun
  9. 100K damage to Midway? Seems like a warship might be able to withstand a glancing blow like that with minimum damage - like paint. If it really bent some steel plates than that would be a shock
  10. Now the fun begins .. better start looking for hotel rooms. If you have a large quantity of hilton points - these were much cheaper for me to use than paying in dollars. 60K per night is about 320 bucks and rooms were over 600 at Hampton etc
  11. Same rejection as last year. However I did get to go in 2024
  12. Without any evidence that seems way low for that car. I would go over it with a detailed eye.
  13. First gen Miata - semi cool to some. Not sure if 3500 will do a semi decent one.
  14. No kidding. I remember looking to my left where one of my friends was sitting. He had "levitated" himself about six inches up from the seat with his arms still in same position they were in when they were on armrests.
  15. Yeah - doing any new construction in German cities still involves a lot of risk from 80 year old bombs underground
  16. Finally done!! Back in Michigan for the final drive before shipping home. Last item is for them to mount the top bars that I brought with me and just check everything. Only slight disapointment is the trailing bottom edge of both doors is not totally flush but if they try to bend the door it will mess us the top edge clearance and clearance on the front edge. Basically the British sixty years ago were not Lexus. The blue color just absolutely pops in sun
  17. Heading back to Michigan tomorrow for the final review of the MGA. The shop told me that they found a fix for the speedometer issue so hopefully the only remaining items are mounting the top frame - which I painted and have in car - and misc checks
  18. Car dealers that call you five years later for the car you sold 2 years ago
  19. Probably old enough to drive a clutch car
  20. If I get airborne during the next drive I am blaming all of you. A live rear axle makes hopping a non zero chance
  21. Well it has all new suspension and new leaf springs so it should survive
  22. Yep they are. However my 60 year old one is really in great shape. Helped that my brother put the top up when he stored it under his desk for 15 years. The shop had their upholstery shop replace the zipper but otherwise still good. And totally agree. On my first MGA the tonneau was great for avoiding the top. You literally could break a finger in all the moving parts if you were not careful - especially trying to pull the top up at night
  23. And essentially done. The long backordered rail came in and was installed. Heading up there in early July for last time. Still going back and forth on putting a top on it. I actually am taking the top frame to be blasted this week and will probably have them put it in just in case. Only items left are some minor punch items. Garage owner plans to put about 50 miles on it to make sure of everything.
  24. I've said it before - any engineer that designs parts for a car is required to actually service the part on a working car.
  25. It's not going to bug me. I can live with the speedo needle jumping around. I can also live with it being fixed. I can't live with it if the fix adds three months. I can always send the speedo off after getting the car back. The shop also told me they are adding something I was not aware off. The doors are aluminum and there is only a small one inch brace inside. They are adding a third party brace to strengthen the aluminum. So not quite done yet
