    Rusted nuts

tried the vice grips - not enough there to grip and turn the nut. Welding to bumper is not going to happen. The bumper is in pretty good shape for 57 years and I am not going to mees it up before rechroming. Picking up a splitter tomorrow and if that fails then try a dremel.

    Rusted nuts

Looking at that now. Not as easy as the picutures because the brackets are kinda V shaped and the nut is in bottom of the V. Plus there is about 1 inch of bumper on the other two sides. Thinking I may get it in at an angle

    Rusted nuts

Grrrr... And more complicated than usual. The rear bumper on my 1962 MGA has a metal bracket on the inside that I need to remove to get the bumper rechromed. It may have been removed once in the 1980s' but probably has never been touched since it left Abington. The problem is that there is nothing to grab - The head of the bolt is chrome and flat. It is supposed to have a square shoulder that goes thru a square hole in bumper to provide back to tighten the nut on the bolt inside the bumper. Well it just spins. There is not enough of the bolt extending past the nut to grab with pliers. I am not sure if heat would work because I can't get any grip on the bolt. I may be able to get a dremel with a cut off blade behind the nut but it will be close. I think I remember seeing nut cracker that Dad used a long time ago but wondering if anyone has an idea. Oh yeah - and there are two of them not one that are like this.🙁
  4. You forgot to ask for a room at the White Horse or who killed JFK
  5. I feel your pain...
  6. On my 1960's house I redid the cabinets similar to his. Mine were black and I wanted white. The doors were sprayed with like 4 coats of oil based white and I did the rest with small rollers. Again four coats. The small rollers made it look like sprayed. I would not do it this way again. Took way too long. With hindsight I would mask everything and use spray gun inside the kitchen. The time to mask would have been less than using those rollers. Spraying the doors was quick - the hardest part was changing the cabinet knobs from a handle with two screws to a single screw knob. Had to fill a hole and sand a lot to make it smooth. Plus I had a ton of doors. The previous owner put about 20 small cabinets around the top at the ceiling. Each door was about one foot and it took a while just to remove them and put them back.
  7. Nice Peter Falk reference...
  8. well Troy was south and east of Montgomery. At best this is a draw
  9. Fpr some reason I never liked the Charger that everyone drools over. However my dream Mopar is 70 or so Challenger. Really liked Vanishing Point also
  10. Back in early 90's I had a friend at IBM in Dallas with a genuine Shelby Cobra signed by him. He had bought it in the 60's for something really cheap like 5K because it only had a 289. Used to kid me that it was better than the IBM retirement plan - in hindsight he was probably right
  11. Yeah - customs over there is very hit/miss. Went thru Frankfort in 2013 and it was a drive by at customs - all they were looking for was a hand holding a passport up as you walked by. Same thing in Singapore which seemed really odd.
  12. Here is what I have on my Sub. No idea if they still sell these since I bought a few of them around 2008. Lot's of interesting choices though. https://westcoastime.com/newnatbanfro.html Other bands https://westcoastime.com/accessories.html
  13. It's odd but I wear my vintage Sub on a 10 buck military strap. Basically a NATO but with a traditional buckle. Never liked the Sub bracelet because wrist changed diameters with hot/cold and couldn't get a decent fit.
  14. Know that feeling. Just got back last week from delivering my 1962 MGA to a shop in Michigan to work on it. Was my Dad's and my twin brothers so I am getting it back on the road. It's not going to cost 100K but I am not interested in the cost (yet). Had a similar one in the 80's so i know what I am getting into.

  16. I will say this - doubt Carroll just decided he had to throw there. That's a lot of decision making in a few seconds. In addition the Seattle player who was now starting for New England knew the play was coming and New England had practiced a lot against that play - which means they were expecting it for any number of reasons - and the DB reacted as expected. Back then someone posted a photo taken from the left side and behind Wilson which showed what looked like a wide open receiver right after the snap. The didn't know Butler was streaking into the photo to make the grab
  17. Don't often see the words machete and grenade in same sentence
  18. Chill out dude - I said I was wrong...
  19. Yep - I guess I am wrong. The wording does say entire body. However if the throwing arm is not past the line then neither is the ball.
  20. Unless high school has different rulesthan college - the ball has to be behind the line. Doesn't matter where the foot is.
  21. It is very pricey but the Tumi backpack I have is the best I could imagine. It went all over the world with for years at IBM before retiring. The best feature was the design of the shoulder straps in relation to the pack. There was never any sagging of the bottom of the bag while walking. It stayed high on shoulders all the time. I got it as a reward but would not give it up
  22. wow - had forgot that they made the lefty
  23. Total lack of trash cans at hotels. I usually grab something to eat and bring it back knowing the only trash can in the entire hotel is outside in parking lot. Too classy to just toss the pizza box or whatever in hallway
  24. A lot of people felt the parson should have been done after a conviction.... As it was Nixon started claiming "elder statesman" status
  25. Take a piece of scrap and try both - see which you like best
