  1. The other thing about that is, I get the impression that the guys that had the know how on this stuff have aged out; meaning that they didn't have the money for maintenance, but it gets worse, they also didn't replace the guys over time that could do it anyway. That isn't to say they don't have people that could figure it out, but it is to say it will make it take longer. One of the things we certainly take for granted is how well trained people are here to deal with these sort of things.
  2. Georgia Overnight take aways: 1. Sunday was a bit of muted response, as expected very few polls open. 2. Vote totals move to 1.426 Million about a 50k add from yesterday. I will do a more thorough update tomorrow, as more valuable data will be out. I would also point out that middle class struggles at least in part for the past 40 years the Republicans have assaulted taxes on the rich and corporations, meanwhile the middle carries the burden. So all these programs and what not we "can't afford" have everything to do with the fact that upper crust and major corporations pay near zero. I know some of you would cry in your cereal every morning if guys like Elmo has to suddenly pay 2 or 3 billion a year in taxes on their 40 billion dollar fortune. Do that to just the top 1% of 1% and you are well on your way to an additional 1 trillion dollars a year to cover things like debt and programs. Just saying.
  3. Just for reference, in 2020 there were just over 4.9 million votes cast in Georgia. Of that 4.9 million, approximately 2.3 million voted early. If Js1 is correct, absolutely no reason to believe he isn't, that would place over 1.4 million votes cast in 2024. Early voting closes on November 1 here, so in order to cross that number, in the next 11 days, we would need a bit less than 100k per day. On Friday, the last full day of polls being opened across the state, over 300k voted. Saturday polls were only open in major cities and today was only a couple of counties. I would personally feel more comfortable if we blow by the 2.3 million figure, as the early voting skew is towards the Democratic vote. However, there are ample indicators that Republicans are not shunning the early vote this year. I wish all of you well beginning to vote tomorrow in Texas.
  4. Stalin's favorite actor, who portrayed him was this naturally tall, broad shouldered man, something like 6'2 and 200lbs. Meanwhile, Stalin himself was a short little ugly man. This is straight out the narcissistic dictator playbook.
  5. The other thing to understand about this is just how much the church, here in Atlanta, is entwined with African American political activism. This predates the civil rights movement, and in turn the civil rights movement has it's origin in black church here in Atlanta. Hell, I'd be more concerned if Kamala weren't courting these voters and community leaders. I'm a hardened atheist, but I get this.
  6. Keep your pants on. Overnight takeaways from Georgia Data Drop: 1. 1.378 Million have now cast votes 2. Women outpace men by 145k. A percentage of 55 to 45 3. Non 2020 voters represent 209k. The 65 plus crowd stays stagnant at 48k, whereas the 18 to 29 is at 63k (this a a 14k shift younger from yesterday). 4. Fortress Atlanta - Dekalb County 93k have now voted, representing 16% of the 2020 output, Fulton County - 156k have votes, representing 17% of the 2020 output. Deeper dive on counties: 1. Clayton County (South Metro Atlanta) - 31k of votes, 15% of 2020 totals. This is the county that in all likelihood saved democracy and won Georgia in 2020. For those interested, Clayton has for years been economically depressed and downtrodden (the wealth in Atlanta is historically to the north, lots of reasons, and that is changing some). At any rate, prior to Stacy Abrams, there was virtually no political engagement from this area. in 2020, over 90k of Democratic votes were cast. Quite obviously a major turning point and success story. Political engagement seems on the margin with metro Atlanta, this is outstanding news. 2. Cobb County - 100k votes cast, 17% of 2020 output. Virtually the exact opposite of Clayton County, on the Northwest side of Atlanta, and a long Republican stronghold that went blue in 2020 and 2022. I expect the margin to slightly increase for Democrats here. It won't be much, but this was critical. Changing demographics and urbanization of the area is behind this. 3. Gwinnett County - 96k votes cast 15k of 2020 output. Northeast Atlanta county that started going blue about 12 years ago and has continued to trend this way. I expect all of the above counties to surpass their output from 2020. Each has seen tremendous growth in the past 4 years.
  7. I'll do a break down on numbers once the data dumps hits tomorrow morning (the dump hits between 1 and 5 am local time). Basically, right now it all points to good news. We know historically that the early vote heavily favors a Democratic turnout. The biggest takeaway as of this morning was that women had outvoted men by 130k, which we know is also generally in our favor, and outpaces 2020. The information that is released is not partisan in nature, i.e., it doesn't distinguish between R, D, or Indy votes. With that in mind, the best we can do is make educated guesses based on prior history.
  8. You know, I'm betting Jack Nicklaus is taking this well, great guy that he is.
  9. Congrats to Tennessee, the better team today for sure.
  10. McElroy for all the Rhodes Scholarship bullshit, makes Helob look a genius.
  11. Milroe checked to that, based on the look. And if Williams blocks, maybe it works. But that was a check at the line.
  12. Well, I know I wouldn't have trusted my defense and gone for it, but that's me.
  13. Obviously, a long way to go, and a lot has to happen, but all this is the unintended by-product of not only league expansion but playoff expansion.
  14. It's a real shame as well, that used to be such a great game, regardless of matchups, with such big implications and now, it may well be relegated to being an also ran. But if you are undefeated, or assured a top 4 spot, why wouldn't you play your 3rd or 4th string?
  15. Frankly, if Texas holds serve this evening, there is a really good chance that even playing in the SEC championship is both irrelevant and possibly detrimental.
  16. He's a redshirt, so yeah young. Will watch the film and kick himself a bit, one way or the other.
  17. From what I've seen thus far, neither team would give Texas very much. That is to say, anything to overly worry about.
  18. Only McElroy would describe a drive with 8 straight runs as good balance.
  19. Well, if I learned anything from the first half, it's that I've really been missing out by not watching Dr. Odyssey. Breathtaking.
  20. Oh, I don't know, probably has to do with the billions of dollars in taxes he will actually have to pay.
  21. We will take all the help we can get, appreciate your sacrifice.
  22. Well, I'll be the honest one, I physically find Sinema attractive. However, the second, she started talking I'm sure that would kill any of that sort of feeling. As a person, she's dogshit, and at least to me, that matters. But a willing mouth is a willing mouth.
