  1. That's the impression I got as well, JD is smart enough to read which way the wind is blowing. I think he's more concerned about an political future he may have than running as dotard's VP.
  2. Should come packaged as "the blathering idiot".
  3. The Bubba Ho Tep and tonguing buttholes at truckstops discussions were far more interesting than the debate itself, and perhaps the only thing I didn't expect this evening by tuning in.
  4. We should have just nuked the hurricane while it was over Cuba or something, problem solved.
  5. If you are looking volunteers to a dig a hole at a golf course, I'm more than ready.
  6. I don't know much about the mine nor quartz, but you do have to wonder, if this was so extremely critical, why didn't they build a secondary road to it?
  7. Out and about today, and on the evening drive on the way home they were going thru recent passings to include Rose, Mutumbo, and then Amos. I knew about the former and not Amos, so that was news to me. However, the radio host recounted how the death of Amos's character on Good Times meant a lot to him when growing up (and apparently, other African American families at the time). Good Times predates me, and I'd always assumed it was just sort of a goofy comedy of the day, and did not know that it was really kind of serious and got sort of hijacked by the dynomite antics. The host indicated that the reason it resonated with him (and I presume others), is that he was a hard working man trying to make it and finally had or was going to only to be taken too soon, something all too familiar for that community. I honestly had no idea about any of this and thought it was interesting. I only recall Amos from Roots and Coming to America, and other supporting roles. He was a great talent.
  8. Mr. Bolton, we aware of your prowess
  9. Even money the other guy has a whole show dedicated to rummaging thru his things.
  10. Give me that over Herbie all day.
  11. He could have ripped my arms off and beat me to death with them. I asked him at one point how he kept doing it, (he'd been throwing bricks all day) and his response was, "well, had to slow down once I turned 75, now I only throw for 8 hours a day."
  12. Spot on, think about this, when was the last time you saw a brick mason that wasn't Hispanic? For me, it was about 20 years ago with an old Atlanta father and son team. The father was 80, and the son was 60 (they were African Americans, so I guess they are out as well from the help these folks want and need). I will say this, if you ever thought no 80 year old could kick your ass, you are wrong.
  13. So do we do an over/under line of Pete now getting in the Hall? It's what he'd have wanted.
  14. This is a time bomb within the housing industry. It used to be you will build for a structure to last, but then it became fast as possible and who cares down the line. The big developers figured out that most people don't pay attention to the bones but rather the bells and whistles of the day. Most people that own a home are familiar with the concept that a 25 year shingle you would really only count on for 20 years (at best). With all these new track developments, that's essentially what you've got, 25 year homes, that are then going to have massive problems (they will have plenty in between). That isn't to say this is the current cause of these problems, but leave no doubt, this is going to be a time bomb within housing. As you said, in the long term, paying for it to be built correctly is the better financial move, but no one is doing that.
  15. Hate seeing Mutombo here, he really helped a lot of people. CSB - the wife and I were at a Blimpie eating outside about 5 years ago when a Rolls Royce pulled up to the curb to go the dry cleaner next door. You don't see a Rolls Royce everyday, so cool, but then this giant human gets out of the car, and then he fully stood up, just insane. At the time they had begun replaying the commercial with him blocking groceries at the store, so even my wife knew who he was. We didn't bother him, but he knew we knew, and gave us a nice smile and a wave. I'm very saddened to see this, not because I'm a big hoops guy, but because I know of his efforts to help others.
  16. Well, I do consider Swedish furniture to be an offensive weapon, especially when I throw the shit, so there's that.
  17. Personally, I think it's worth it. There is a psychological impact to hitting the enemy where they feel most safe. The message is, we will find you and we will kill you, there is no safe harbor for leading these attacks. The downside is that for some high ranking Russian's it may steel their resolve, but at least for some, it may encourage them to "make mistakes" get extra incompetent, etc. Additionally, sowing an atmosphere of internal distrust within the Russian ranks helps with creating chaos.
  18. Gee, I wonder if any marginalized people would contend that the police have long been on a systematic purge?
  19. The best way I can think of at the moment, beyond the usual monetary donations, is to encourage those that have never been to Asheville to visit it soon. Tourism dollars will go a long way. Obviously, it might be a while before that is possible, but go, spend money have fun. It's been a while for me, I actually think that last time I was there was about 5 years ago, and I shit you not I was doing some work for an alpaca wool processing place. Go to the Biltmore, stay a night or two, etc. They have great dining, and arts community that is cool and the scenery is great.
