  1. Another nice example of central planning gone wrong.
  2. Yeah we may need her to get washed out before we can move back up.
  3. Referring only to the monetary policy. You’ll never see a 30% YoY increase in the bitcoin monetary base.
  4. This is funny because you kind of have it backwards. Bitcoiners specifically acknowledge that the global economy is a complex system. The fault lies with believing that you can centrally plan such a complex system. And there is a small group that does the central planning. The Federal Reserve Board pumped the economy for the better part of 14 years and now they’re slamming the brakes so hard that leaders from around the world are begging them to slow down. Powell’s statements are parsed down to the word and determine capital flows all over the world. That’s just reality. Bitcoin’s monetary policy is predetermined and therefore reliable. There isn’t. Not possible in any case.
  5. Here’s a nice Brisket post from some guy named Charlie Stross.
  6. Again to clarify, I’m only discussing bitcoin, not all of crypto. “New suckers” aka users or adopters are created each cycle by global central bank and government policies. I think it’s a fascinating subject to follow and I’m obviously invested financially. I’m happy to go back and forth with you. I’ve been here a while. You’re the one commenting on this thread about something you think is total bullshit. What part of hodl do you not understand?
  7. One of the big things I always hear about is how cryptocurrency is just used for money laundering and illicit activities. That isn’t true but it sure can be used for those things. Our govt and intel agencies could definitely utilize something like that. Instead of using a shady bank like BCCI in the past, why not use Tethers to move money around globally? Quicker, easier. I realize that a technical and historical discussion of tether is beyond the scope of this thread, so I’ll just leave it at that.
  8. Yes, I remember when Madoff’s fund suffered multiple drawdowns >50% and pumped right back. Ponzis cannot survive dips that big. Much less go way higher afterward.
  9. In the original post I was referring mostly to Tether, but as for FTX… His story about making huge money on the arbitrage trade is pretty vague. The silent Chinese billionaire partner with a limited internet footprint is shady. There’s also this interesting quote from the bankruptcy filing. Compromised by what, or whom? I’d love to know what they meant there.
  10. What’s laughably predictable is these types of posts every 4 years by supposedly rational adults in the face of these numbers.
  11. Equating self custody of assets with civilians raising armies. Also, precious metals are a scam. Interesting. The original libtards?
  12. This will be one of the next big fights. Generally speaking, the government doesn’t want you holding your assets outside their control.
  13. Ok. So that’s normal. Got it. Everything else I listed was shady beyond it being a fraud.
  14. Origin. However you want to put it. He came out of nowhere pretty quickly.
  15. He can be out in the open with influence peddling and philanthropy while also being secretive about internal finances. I realize you may not be aware of a lot of the background, but he emergence story is shady. His co-founder lack of any story is shady. Who he owes money to being sealed is shady, even if Dahobbs says it’s legally justified. Why has he not been arrested already? It’s a pretty smelly situation.
  16. I just want to be sure I’m reading this right. Are you implying that your team’s politicians have been drug against their will into the influence peddling game?
  17. An interesting theory that I’ve seen tossed around online is that Tether, and by connection FTX, are utilized for funding by intelligence ops. It would explain the secrecy surroundings these entities and Sam. It would also help explain why Tether hasn’t blown up yet despite years of red flags. It’s pretty clear that cryptocurrency in general, and specifically Tether and FTX have been utilized for large scale money laundering. It wouldn’t surprise me learn that governments and intelligence services were participating. It’s something to follow.
  18. China getting head start on supply after 2026.
