  1. I found Instant Pot to be the best for hard boiled eggs as well. The shell comes off very easily, even on fresher eggs. I would advise investing in one. I don't really like cooking full meals in them, but it's great for speeding up things like potatoes and beans, or cooking frozen chicken breasts. And I couldn't imagine doing hard boiled eggs any other way now. The one thing that I can't seem to get right is homemade pasta. I have an attachment for my stand mixer, but I can't seem to fold it right and run it through the different thicknesses with any sort of symmetry or consistent shape. It gets wonky and I invariably make a huge mess and it doesn't taste great. I probably need to experiment with different dough recipes and practice, but I've kind of given up on it. The reward doesn't merit the labor when I can just dump dry pasta into a boiling pot of water.
  2. How on earth are there four coaches in any conference worse than Dave Aranda? He’s got one of the hottest seats in college football.
  3. MSG has a bad rap and much of it because of racism. It's fine for you. I've recently been incorporating it into more stuff and it gives an umami you don't get from salt and pepper. Also... I went to South Padre last week and on the way home picked up some shrimp caught that morning. Took it home and made panko crusted fried shrimp po boys w/ homemade potato chips and tartar sauce.
  4. I haven’t seen Saraf but Traore is niiiiice. I need to check him out. I watched some of Edgecombe in Olympic qualifying play and he’s really really impressive as well. This class is freaking loaded. There will probably be 5-6 guys who would’ve been the first overall pick in the 2024 draft.
  5. All of this is true, but that talent is spread out among all different countries. Of the 24 players in any single game, the US will still almost certainly have 12 of the best 14 or 15. The concentration of talent is typically too much to overcome. That said, the one and done format, the shorter 40 minute FIBA game and the shorter 3 pt line makes the margin of error so much smaller. The fact that they only get a couple of weeks to play together is another problem -- it's just hard to develop chemistry in that short of a time. I think the US will still be the prohibitive favorite in 2028, but it wouldn't be any sort of cataclysmic upset if they come up short. They are going to get got, eventually. It's a matter of when and not if, but I think it's going to be a long time before they aren't still considered the best and most talented team in the Olympics.
  6. He was explaining some boring ass drill that I had done a thousand times before and I was watching the scrimmage at the other end of the gym instead of listening to him. One day I’ll get my revenge. And for the record, I won camp co-mvp for my age group. Pretty sure that was the zenith of my basketball career other than the time I was shooting hoops by myself at Gregory when Travis Mays wandered over to join me. This was either right before or right after he got drafted. I caught fire from outside and he had to give me change for like 3 straight minutes. He didn’t seem happy about it.
  7. He’s a fucking asshole. At least he was when he was coaching at Spurs kids summer basketball camp at Antonian High School in 1978. #neverforget
  8. She's going to completely destroy him in the debates. It's going to be borderline erotic.
  9. LOL. My man was solid standing there at the FT lane as a designated rebounder in the final seconds though.
  10. He lost his mojo when he gave up that little splotch of dyed hair.
  11. I think France is going to foul. At least I would.
  12. Paris and Germany tied at the half. This is a good game. Wemby is doing Wemby things but missing some shots. When he gets it going he is transcendent. Gobert has been essentially benched. I think he played like a minute or two. Woof.
  13. In the ncaa report, it was noted that Harbaugh ate a bacon cheeseburger for breakfast. At that rate, dude will be lucky to be ambulatory in five years.
  14. Utah is in a weird spot. They need a superstar. At this point they may be better off trading some of their draft capital and young players to get one. The treadmill is an awful place to be in the nba. Markkanen waiting to sign his contract so that they can’t trade him before next summer really limits their flexibility. Barring him getting “injured”, they can’t pick a lane for at least another season.
  15. I keep seeing shit about this being maybe the most talented Ohio State team ever, and it’s like they just ignore that Will Howard is their trigger man. He wasn’t even the best qb on his own middling team last year. And let’s honest about Chip Kelly - he hasn’t been considered innovative in a decade. The defense is going to outstanding and I suppose the schedule is dogshit so it would be stunning to see them out of the playoff, but I just don’t buy them overall.
  16. It was no doubt terrible and stupid. To say it had plot holes is an insult to plot holes. I did think Josh Harnett was good and the production value was fine. There was probably a decent film in there somewhere or maybe it would have worked as a spoof with some third wall breaking?
  17. The same reason they don’t make the entire plane out of the black box?
  18. No way in hell I would have taken my kids to this movie when they were 9. Moreso about the violence and gore than the language, but still...
  19. I agree with your general premise, but let's not let give the Big 12 a pass here on scheduling. Every Big 12 team lost games against OU, Texas, USC, Washington, Oregon or UCLA and replaced them with games against the other leftovers and dogshit non-conference games. The only Big 12 nonconference games that even sniff the top tier of college football are Houston v. OU, Penn State v. West Virginia, Pitt v. West Virginia, Florida v. UCF, Iowa v. Iowa State, and Colorado v. Nebraska, Arkansas v. Okie State. And defining most of those as "top tier" is a stretch. I agree with you about the SEC and ACC 8 game schedule being bullshit, but it's going to be really interesting to see how this shakes out when the playoff teams are decided.
