  1. I will be completely stunned if Salaun amounts to anything in the NBA. I never understood the hype with him to begin with, and almost shit myself when Charlotte took him 6th. Low IQ, shaky jumper and very, very stiff. He's got a big motor, but that's it. Sarr at least is athletic and you know can be a rim protector, but Salaun has no discernable basketball talent whatsoever. With regard to the future of USA basketball... I'm not concerned. There will always be a steady stream of talent to stock the roster. It's going to be a long ass time before another country is able to go 12 deep with difference-making NBA talent. Current US born NBA players under 25 who are better than 90% of international players and not on this year's Olympic team: Banchero, Holmgren, Garland, JJJ, Cade Cunningham, Ja Morant, Scottie Barnes, Zion, Jalen Williams, Maxey,
  2. I haven't seen the one that came out yesterday, but I think this show is fantastic. I can't believe how much access they have.
  3. Put me in the camp who believes Embiid is a better offensive player than AD. Notwithstanding his disgusting flopping foul baiting bullshit, he's a remarkably skilled big man with fantastic footwork who plays with incredible fluidity, touch and range for a guy his size. I don't see the same skillset with AD, who arguably is a more impactful overall player.
  4. Super obvious which of crew were going to become dragon riders. I think it would have been cooler to have introduced one of the commoners earlier in the season who ends up getting barbecued. Would have at least been a little of a plot twist. Also... throwback to that time Big Tex tried to claim Deepfrye as his own dragon.
  5. I thought it was good, not great. It felt like they were a slightly more cohesive plot away from completely knocking it out of the park.
  6. I'm much less surprised that some mentally ill person downtown tried to stab BO&W than cajun up here casually ordering cho and egg puffy tacos. WTF? Breakfast puffy tacos? I've never heard of such a thing. It's always, "Chicken or beef, de puff?" It's genius and I'm sure it's delicious, but I'm still trying to wrap my head around it.
  7. Wemby is hilarious. Just comical shit he’s doing.
  8. Pretty sure Obama was holding back his endorsement because he was still deciding whether to support her or Trump. Came down to a coin flip, probably.
  9. The truth about Inside the NBA is that it's good almost entirely because of Barkley, and to a lesser extent Ernie playing the straight man. Shaq brings nothing to the table. Kenny brings nothing to the table. And they could find somebody else to do Ernie's job or at least approximate it. But the entire show is great because Charles is great. The other truth is that it if the other studio shows were even remotely compelling, Inside the NBA wouldn't look so good by comparison. The shit that ESPN puts out is fucking horrible unwatchable. They have never even come close to getting the formula correct. Kendrick Perkins and Stephen A are so, so bad. So I guess now Amazon, NBC and ESPN will all have separate studio shows? Maybe one of them will get it right. The old NBC studio show with Costas and Hannah Storm was good. They were never as entertaining or funny as the TNT group, but they put a good product out there that built up the game they were broadcasting. Maybe it was a little different back then because there were limited avenues to consume the league on TV, but they made the games feel bigger.
  10. Wait a minute... the Paris Olympics (where he is the host country's most visible star) begin in 2 days and he has a game in 3 days. He played in a tune up match against Australia 3 days ago in France. So in the middle of that, he decides to take a quick trip to.... Oklahoma Fucking City? Not to go Katfid on you, but are you certain that you saw Victor Wembanyama?

  13. Say what you will about couches, you don’t need to pay them hush money.
  14. Yep. This is going to end up in court or in some type of settlement. I don’t know that much about their matching rights but I am under the impression that the new contracts were written in such a way that it would be impossible for them to truly match them. It’s not just about dollars, it’s about coverage and distribution channels, streaming, etc.
  15. Horford is 38 and Porzingis is about as injury prone as you can get. I wouldn't feel too secure with that front court if I were a Celtics fan. They have a ton of money committed to their perimeter players, and not much flexibility moving forward. I also think it's hilarious that they are signing all of these contracts and going deeper into the tax than anybody else at the same time that their owner is trying to sell the team. Like, Wyc Grousback is saying, "Fuck it, sure... give them whatever they want. It's not like I'm going to be around to pay for it anyway."
  16. I don’t think there’s a problem with accepting the loss and dealing with it as the breaks of football. It happens. It’s part of the game. The following ten years had nothing to do with that game or the fan’s reaction to it, and everything to do with the quality of our coaches. Don’t give yourself too much credit. All of our wounds were self inflicted by Mack quitting in the job and two subsequent bad hires. Those are also the breaks of the game. Sometimes you get the hire right. Sometimes you don’t. I guess we will find out if Bama got it right with Debour. I think they did, but you never know.
  17. That winning isn’t for everyone bit might be taken the wrong way featuring a guy on a 22 win team. I’m not sure Nike thought that through. If the lakers don’t make the playoffs, how many Lebron winning isn’t for everyone memes are we going to see?
  18. I don't know that he had any offers other than the minimum. All of the usual suspects spent their cap space. It was musical chairs and he didn't have a place to sit when the music stopped. Also CSB time.., I had a buddy who played college ball with Gary Trent Sr. Senior would apparently come back to campus every so often with a trunk full of stolen merch to sell. He would get you a one and one (a TV plus stereo) for something like $100. Clearly his kid doesn't have the same business acumen.
  19. Westbrook has actually been okay for the Clippers the last two years. For a minimum-ish contract, you could do worse. I still think the Nuggets roster is a mess and is without many ways to improve, but Russ can eat up 22 minutes a game and lead a second unit. I wonder if they were involved in the Gary Trent Jr negotiations. He seems like a better fit with them than Milwaukee. His shooting would have been a godsend and after seeing what Jokic did for Bruce Brown and KCP, you would think that he would have been on board for something like that.
  20. I hadn't played this game in probably 15 years and I'm not much of a gamer to begin with, but my son downloaded it last night and it's fun as hell.
