  1. I do think it's a little funny that the Wolves played their best game in probably the past 20 years when Gobert sat. They are 100x more difficult to defend when Reid is out there, and their defense actually got better. When you have two bigs who can shoot threes in KAT and Reid, the entire floor opens up for Edwards. It's difficult to help off of him and not leave somebody open. That was probably the best defensive game I've ever seen out of KAT. It's like Anthony Edwards performed a brain transplant on him.
  2. This isn’t even the same sport that we saw from October to January. And Murray has to be punished for that. That’s ridiculous and embarrassing.
  3. If it came from their bench, it was probably a maxi pad. There are playing like pussies tonight.
  4. The refs are really letting them play. Denver needs to stop complaining and man up. Minnesota is choking their ass out.
  5. I would very much like to see a playoff game there. And Brunson is an animal. I went to game 3 of the 1999 finals when the spurs played the Knicks in the garden. It was pretty awesome even though the spurs lost that one. The refs were just as horrible that night as they were tonight. I generally hate the nba ref conspiracy theories, but there was a reason Dick Bavetta was called Dick the Knick, and sure as shit he called that game which was the only one the spurs lost that series.
  6. All of this, especially the Heather Thomas part. That was soul crushing. She looks like a science project that went horribly awry. I thought she was the hottest thing ever in about 1983. If you had told 13 year old me that was the same girl that I paused Zapped at the exact moment that Willie Aimes took that snapshot... there's no way I would believe you.
  7. Seconded. I've only been to the downtown location next to the Alamodome but I'm a big fan. Good food, good vibe. They also have a cool downstairs bar.
  8. That's where I'm at. Again, I suppose it's all worth it for a franchise that just won its first playoff series in twenty years, but they have a real opportunity to build something sustainable. Once Edwards escalator kicks in, they are going to be damn close to the second apron before next season starts with only 9 guys under contract. It's just not feasible to have three max contracts on your cap any longer with the new CBA. And their ownership situation is messy right now.
  9. The Gobert trade only looks good because Edwards went supernova, the Conley trade, and the incredible growth from Reid and McDaniels. It was still a horrible overpay and they’re about to be a second apron team because of his dumb $44 million / contract. Nobody ever said he was worthless on the court, it’s what they gave up for him and his cap figure.
  10. Well, that’s certainly one take on Kawhi’s history.
  11. He’s been incredible. Maybe he’s grown up? Maybe he realized how much money he cost himself? Maybe he’s still a time bomb ticking? Things were great in Boston and Cleveland until they weren’t. And his durability is always a question but holy hell he plays a beautiful game. I saw game 6 and it was fun. Mitchell was incredible. Orlando has a very nice young core. Point of clarification: he signed up for the Kawhi experience. It’s completely his fault. He had other options.
  12. I loved Fujiya, especially the original location on Fred but also when they moved to Wurzbach. Other than Nikkis, that was the only place to get sushi in SA back in the day.
  13. Not sure how you fire the guy who just coached you to the In-Season Title.
  14. Anybody up for some chicken wings and jenga?
  15. He’s such a piece of shit.
  16. That Market Square event has notoriously been the one of the sketchiest fiesta events for several years now. This isn't close to being the first incident. Like the rest of you, I avoid most events with big crowds anyway, but I remember going to that thing several years ago to see a friend's band and feeling unsafe. Bad vibes, all the way around.
  17. I would be surprised to see PG leave. He spent half his career trying to get home to LA. Ballmer will give him more money than anyone else. The Clippers really aren't in that bad of shape, cap-wise. Kawhi's deal is dumb, but they don't have much committed beyond that. PG will change that, though. They are going to have to make a decision on Harden who is unrestricted this off season. Westbrook has a NBA minimum player option that I can't imagine he opts into. I wonder what kind of interest either of them gets on the open market.
  18. If he's Mackey 2.0, then he will absolutely kill it in San Antonio with the overweight cholas.
  19. I don't agree with his assessment that he's not a playmaker or passer. He did plenty of that at Kentucky and that's not really a prerequisite to play "point guard" in the NBA today and particularly in the Spurs system. And he's plenty quick. The question about him is strictly on defense. Can he hold up? Is he going to get hunted mercilessly? All of this is bullshit speculation until the lottery order shakes out anyway, but Dillingham makes a lot of sense. Most of the other lottery teams don't need point guards so there's a decent chance he's available no matter where the Spurs pick.
  20. The NBA ref conspiracy theory trope is so lame and tired. This just in: they miss calls. They are human. It happens. Anything beyond that is black helicopter shit. Except for Tony Brothers. He's just fucking incompetent.
  21. Anybody playing Oklahoma or A&M. Or when they play each other, the second favorite team would be a meteor.
