  1. Uhhh... hate to tell you this, but Cuban absolutely tanked in that exact position so they wouldn't have to give up that pick to New York that turned into Lively. You don't think Cuban was on board for that? Even when the Mavs were at the end of the Dirk era before they got Luka, Cuban was quoted as saying that they were going to suck for a good while until they were able to find another star and build it back up. With regard to the path forward... I would not tear down to the studs. It doesn't make any sense to if you only control your own first round pick for next year. I have some news: this team is going to lose a shit load of games as long as Kyrie is out, just about no matter what else is done. It's a roster construction that was build around Luka, it makes no sense as is. So you can call it a tank, but it's really just a bad team in a tough conference. The Mavs are going to lose, and lose a lot. So, suck this year, hopefully get lucky again in the lottery, move some pieces around if you can get some value, then run it back next year with a healthy Kyrie, more experienced Flagg, maybe a healthy AD (lol), and some retooling around some of the role players. Depending on how Flagg develops, you can put together a pretty decent team going forward out of it. One more thing... I've been watching a few Mavs games (more than actual Mavs fans it seems) and it's annoying as fuck how your announcer constantly refers to Cooper Flagg as "Coop". Call him Cooper, fine. Call him Flagg, fine. But Coop sounds fucking stupid. Is your play by play guy an Aggie?
  2. This has been one of the craziest nights I’ve ever seen in the nba.
  3. Wemby 6/9 from three. Rest of the team? 4/24. Woof. Can’t believe they stole this one.
  4. Rough shooting night from Champagnie. He’s had wide ass open looks too all night.
  5. They need to play some defense this quarter. That was some weak shit in the third.
  6. Kornet back tonight. Almost back to full strength sans Harper. Giddey out. Hopefully they’ve alerted all the local middle schools.
  7. The maddening thing about Georgia is that no matter how ugly the game is or how poorly they play, they damn near always seem to find a way to pull out a win (except against Bama for whatever reason). I don't like those assholes and I fucking hate Kirby, but credit where credit is due. Winners win. And let's give a little credit to this Longhorn team as well. It's looked really, really bad at times against Kentucky and Mississippi State and whatever ref fuckery that happened in the fourth quarter against Vanderbilt, but this team has found a way to grind it out, outlast their opponent, and make enough plays to win. So fuck whatever schemes or matchups you want to talk about, this game is about outfighting and being tougher than these fucksticks for 4 quarters and however many overtimes it takes. That's the game to me.
  8. Yeah he was hurt his first couple of years. If Detroit had better lottery luck they would be on the verge of a dynasty. And gimme Cade ten times out of ten over Sengun.
  9. Cade Cunningham is a beast. I’m not going to do a top 10 players in the league right now list but if I was I would be hard pressed to not have him on it.
  10. The schedule has been mostly ass, but 7-2 is 7-2 and good enough for the second best record in the league. And they’ve been beat up too. They’re really going to be fun to watch at full strength. GSG
  11. Fox… it’s been awhile. Oh I remember why the spurs traded for you now.
  12. Love the physicality tonight. They are taking it to Houston. There would have been 500 fouls if they officiated this game like the Lakers game the other night.
  13. Cleveland. For getting Donovan Mitchell.
  14. I'll take why not both for $200, Alex. They are being extremely cautious as always, and they never say shit about anything ever anyway. We may not see Harper until the fucking all star break at this rate. Kornet has been out for what seems like an inordinate amount of time for an ankle sprain. But then again, it's the same ankle that he sprained and fractured back in 2020 so maybe they're taking that injury history into consideration. All I know is that I don't like going into this Houston game this undermanned. I know most folks think the NBA cup deal is stupid, but I think it would be fun to see the Spurs play in competitive games with a little more on the line that just random regular season game. I think it would be good seasoning for a potential playoff appearance as well. I actually want them to compete and try to win this stupid thing. This franchise hasn't played in a game with anything on the line in years.
  15. I don't disagree about the economy, but that's the lowest get in price and more reflective of a shitty slate. It certainly won't look like that for Texas/Georgia next Saturday. Most schools don't charge the same for each game. Back in the Big12 days, a Texas ticket would be double or triple that of some other conference foes. I still think Tech has $10 tickets for some home games. In other news.... YoutTube TV is hemorrhaging subscribers. Google is losing the war. We are all casualties. https://variety.com/2025/tv/news/youtube-tv-disney-blackout-subscribers-canceling-1236571504/
  16. Castle's All true. The thing Castle has improved the most on this season is finishing in the paint but not at the rim. It seemed like he missed every one of those shots from about 8-10 feet out last year. The in between game improvement has been tremendous. His FT shooting has gotten better over the last few games too after a rough start. It was pretty much known going into the draft that his shooting was going to define his ceiling as a player and that trajectory is definitely looking fantastic. I still can't believe Houston drafted Reed Sheppard over him. That is going to haunt them for years. I thought Lindy looked good as well. Definite upgrade over Mclaughlin. I thought Olynyk was particularly atrocious on defense. He needs another big next to him. Kornet being out has destroyed the bench's defense. They kept showing that Victor defensive rating on/off statistic, but that thing looks a lot different if Kornet is playing. Bottom line, though, is that this is a really deep team. One final observation: They need to learn how to punish teams that stick a small on Victor. This has been going on since literally his second game in the league when the Dillon Brooks/Rockets shit started. They have to find a way to get him on the block and not have him drift out to the three point line. Two games in a row of midgets banging into his arms and getting him into foul trouble is frustrating as hell. He's got to figure that shit out and they have to find ways to help him with back picks and other actions to free him up down low. This Alex Caruso type shit against him has got to stop.
  17. Awful basketball. Horribly officiated. Still should have won.
  18. Three point shooting keeping the spurs in this. Too many turnovers and too much foul baiting that they’re falling for. The league needs to do something about the offensive player initiating contact and it being a defensive foul. So frustrating.
  19. Fuck it I just dialed it. A little disappointed that they reported the temperature without prefacing with “downtown temperature” and they are four minutes behind, but that was oddly satisfying. Puro San Antonio.
  20. I'm not going to look it up or dial it... is it 226-3232?
  21. I'm familiar with one of them, that's for sure.
  22. This is the last thing I'm going to say about all this crap and hopefully we can get back to winning basketball tonight against the got dam Lakers (if I can find a fucking ESPN stream - fuck you Disney and Google) instead of this political bullshit... but the Spurs are putting in a substantial amount of their own cash. Compare their deal to what OKC did for the Thunder or how other cities have bent over to keep their sports teams. So the deal itself seems pretty decent and there are still negotiations to be made. It's not really over with. But beyond that, I don't think you can put a price on what the Spurs have meant to this city over the past 50 years. We are a one major league sports town. It just so happens also that the one major league team we have has been the model franchise in all of pro sports for the last 25ish of those years. They have also been fairly amazing when it comes to their commitment to the community and the type of organization they have run and people they have employed (notwithstanding Josh Primo's dick). The civic pride and cross-cultural impact that the Spurs have provided to this city is Incalculable. This isn't as simple as a billionaire bailout/subsidy. This is something that is ingrained into the fabric of this city -- and not just the white folks on the northside. Believe me, you walk into any southside or westside neighborhood bar and they are ride or die Spurs fans. The Spurs are a huge part of their lives. I'll never forget being downtown after the 1999 championship. The streets are flooded. Me and my buddies are sitting in Commerce Street gridlock in my convertible. People are running around losing their shit in a good, way. This one scary ass gang banger looking dude comes up to me, gives me a high five and says, "Isn't this fucking awesome? Normally, you and me would never look at each other or talk to each other. But today? Man, we are all Spurs fans and brothers. Go Spurs Go!" And then he waded off into the crowd. The idea of San Antonio not having the Spurs is unfathomable to me. The Spurs have had some of the highest priced seats in the league for years now, even with one of the shittiest corporate bases in the country. The average person has been priced out already. But no, there aren't going to be enough people to buy the tickets, especially since they are going to have the single biggest attraction in the sport for the next 15 years (injury or trade demand notwithstanding, god forbid). Who will attend the games when everybody has been killed by drunk drivers?
