  1. I know the warriors were sans Curry and Looney, but that’s just a pathetic L for them at home against the spurs without their best two players. That wasn’t exactly heart of a champion effort tonight. Whatever. It’s nice to see the Spurs finish one out and get a dub. 32-50 still in play.
  2. We did that trip last June plus Victoria, which I would highly recommend. We flew into Vancouver for a couple of days, took the ferry to Victoria for two nights at the Empress and then took another ferry to Seattle for a couple of days before coming home. I’ll try to remember some of the Vancouver spots but I would advise avoiding Chinatown (or at least the part of it we walked through) unless you want to watch folks shooting up in the middle of the street at 10:00 am.
  3. Agreed. She’s awful. The commentary at one point down the stretch was just “wow” followed by several seconds of dead air.
  4. I was just coming to post this. These two are gawd awful.
  5. He might be the smartest player I've ever seen. It's either him or Magic. With third place going to JR Smith.

  7. Wait a minute. We're not supposed to be using our real names?
  8. I can’t stop watching the Anthony Edwards play. Just unreal.
  9. Total choke job. Malaki giveth and Malaki taketh away.
  10. I always heard rumors that Sarita's was a drug front. Even if it is, it's still pretty good.
  11. I feel your pain. Wemby is sitting out tonight with a twisted ankle in a critical matchup for the 13 win Spurs against Sacramento. But this KAT thing really is a bummer. I feel a little ripped off by the injuries that precede the NBA playoffs each year and it seems like they are increasing, despite whatever advances we've made in medicine and load management. Maybe it's selective memory, but I just don't remember it happening as much back in the day.
  12. Oh shit. Wet may need to do a welfare check on @MNLonghornFUKM

  15. That's not fair. I'm not a Suns or KD hater. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Suns or KD lover, either. But still... I just think their roster is poorly constructed and while I can respect the balls on their owner for going all in, I think they are in for a world of hurt in the not too distant future. KD and Beal are both past their primes and brittle. They mortgaged all their picks and the second apron is about to come down on them, hard. If this iteration doesn't get it done, what then? They can't re-tool around them. Their only real tradeable asset is Booker and they can't even unload him to tank because they don't own their picks. It took the Knicks a decade to crawl out from Isiah Thomas mortgaging their future. I can't believe the Suns are letting him anywhere near their decision makers.
  16. Or how about letting Sochan wrestle with him down low and have Wemby come over from the weakside? Sengun was fantastic, but Pop did Wemby zero favors last night especially considering he had to play so passively due to foul trouble. Maybe Pop was doing some Mr. Miyagi shit and that was supposed to be some sort of teachable moment, but it certainly wasn't about putting Vic in the best position to be successful or winning the game. I have no clue what Tre Jones did to get himself benched midway through the 3rd quarter, but it was the least shocking thing ever that the execution down the stretch was deep fried dogshit with Branham running point. We've seen that movie before and it looked just like last night. Don't get me wrong Malaki was maybe the only bright spot in the game, but perhaps the 6 fourth quarter turnovers could have been reduced and Victor could have gotten off a little if they gave some minutes to the closest thing on the roster resembling a point guard. One other thing about the Rockets... they played very hard on defense last night so much credit to them for all the turnovers. The refs let the physicality go and we haven't seen Wemby get taken out of the game like that since early in the season. That said, the league needs to do something about the offensive player initiating contact and it being a foul on the defense. It's a league-wide problem and Sengun took full advantage of it. He got Wemby in foul trouble and he was on his heels the rest of the night. I will say, though, that I'm excited to see how Wemby comes out against Houston next week. I don't think he liked Sengun dropping 40 on his head and I don't think he liked Dillon Brooks shoving him around.
  17. Nope. Frustrating game. Not sure why Jones is benched right now. They need a point guard in the worst way.
  18. Branham on a heater these last couple of games If they can stop turning it over and keep Wemby on the floor, they might get one tonight.
  19. I guess because they were both considered, respectively, the best prospects arguably ever coming into their rookie seasons? Wemby is almost exactly a year older than Lebron was in his rookie season. Luka was about 2 months younger than Wemby during his rookie year. Even at 18-19, Lebron was so much more physically developed than Wemby is now. Scary to think what Wemby is going to be like when he grows into his body. Here's the per 36 minute comparison: Here's the advanced stats comparison: Wemby is obscene and the trajectory he's on from the French league to now is even more obscene. If they can put even marginally competent players around him...
  20. That was amazing, but I had to dial back my enthusiasm when I realized it was against the Bullets. It's kinda like a highlight from the all-star game. Should it really count if the other team isn't trying or abjectly awful?
  21. I'm not a sci-fi guy in general. Never read the books. I could never get into the earlier movie adaptations. My son wanted to see it because of all the hype so we ended up watching part 1 on Saturday at home and then caught part 2 yesterday at the Drafthouse. I thought it was fantastic. Just really, really well done and well acted. I don't usually even notice the score but I thought it really enhanced the movie. In hindsight, I wish we had seen it in imax.
  22. What it lacks in quality, it more than makes up for with quantity. It's comically huge. Man, I need a Rolando's trip soon. BTW, @Cajun... did you see that Sylvia's on San Pedro is now Restaurante San Pedro? It's solid. Same shit as Riendo and Sylvias, although they do bring out a tiny cup of queso with your chips and salsa which is a nice touch.
  23. Making the finals would be unprecedented for a team with that little playoff experience. I gotta think that getting bounced in the first round would be a disappointment if they end up with the 1 or 2 seed. Getting worked in 4-5 games in the second round would be slightly deflating but okay all things considered. Losing a long, competitive round 2 series would be more than acceptable. Getting to the conference finals or beyond is gravy. I hadn't really thought about the matchups, and the west is so deep it probably doesn't matter. But if I were them I would want to avoid DEN, MIN, NOP, SAC, LAL and maybe PHX. All those teams have some capacity to beat the shit out of you in the paint. The west playoffs are going to be so much fun. I just hope that everybody stays healthy other than the Clippers.
  24. Phoenix / OKC was an interesting watch. The Suns came back from a huge deficit but their execution down the stretch was just horrific. Booker was out so take whatever you want from all that. I've been trying to size up OKC for the playoffs and a few things stand out: 1. The OKC offense is a bit brutal to watch. It's SGA or Jalen Williams going one on one, or one of them screening for the other. Maybe you get a high screen from Holmgren every now and then, but there is so little weakside action and movement. It's weird because they run so much great stuff out of time outs, but the rest of the time it's iso after iso after iso with the other dudes standing around waiting for the ball at the three point line. I don't know if you can win in the playoffs playing like that. Teams will start to get a bead on how to guard you when you face them several times in a row. Or maybe SGA is just that good of a one on one player? 2. In addition to Nurkic killing them on the boards, he was pushing Chet all over the place. They are going to get pounded inside especially when they start letting more physical play go in the post season. Holmgren was -19 last night. The guy is not a center, at least not yet. With all of their assets, I just can't fathom that they didn't try to get some more beef for the stretch run, even a stop gap. Signing Bismack Biyombo off the scrap heap just isn't going to cut it. They are next to last in defensive rebounding percentage and give up the second most second chance points in the league. 3. Yeah... the Giddey thing is a problem. Hayward hasn't gotten much run since they traded for him, but he hasn't looked good in the minutes he has gotten. He might be washed. I know they have a roster glut, but OKC may have been better off passing on that trade. Or moving some of those assets for a big.
  25. Pittsnogle, yes!. I couldn't think of his name and was too lazy to google it.
