  1. I still don’t trust Sochan’s shot but if he can consistently knock it down he can be special. Wesley had 8 assists last night running point of the bench. Branham benched. Something to watch.
  2. Collins has regressed. I was really high on him and thought he would be the perfect complement to Vic, but they are seemingly unplayable together. His defense is atrocious and he needs to stop jacking threes. He stopped being physical, too. He could make an impact as an enforcer but he's gotten so soft. Whatever, he's on an ok deal for two more years. I like the growth Wesley has shown and would be pissed if they got rid of him. Everybody knew he was a long term project when they picked him, and he hasn't turned 21 yet. As terrible as Branham has looked, he isn't 21 yet either. Sochan is also still 20. These guys are getting baptized by fire every night. Dejounte Murray wasn't really a legitimate NBA player until he was 24. We need to keep some perspective just how young this team is, especially when they are playing against grown ass men every night. Everybody talks about how young OKC is, but look how their roster stacks up to the Spurs by age: Player Birth Date Sidy Cissoko 4/2/2004 Victor Wembanyama 1/4/2004 Cason Wallace 11/7/2003 Dominick Barlow (TW) 5/26/2003 Ousmane Dieng 5/21/2003 Jeremy Sochan 5/20/2003 Malaki Branham 5/12/2003 Blake Wesley 3/16/2003 Josh Giddey 10/10/2002 Jaylin Williams 6/29/2002 Chet Holmgren 5/1/2002 Aleksej Pokusevski 12/26/2001 Julian Champagnie 6/29/2001 Jalen Williams 4/14/2001 Tre Mann 2/3/2001 Charles Bassey 10/28/2000 Devin Vassell 8/23/2000 Keyontae Johnson (TW) 5/24/2000 Tre Jones 1/8/2000 David Duke Jr. (TW) 10/13/1999 Keldon Johnson 10/11/1999 Isaiah Joe 7/2/1999 Sandro Mamukelashvili 5/23/1999 Luguentz Dort 4/19/1999 Olivier Sarr (TW) 2/20/1999 Aaron Wiggins 1/2/1999 Shai Gilgeous-Alexander 7/12/1998 Zach Collins 11/19/1997 Lindy Waters III (TW) 7/28/1997 Mamadi Diakite (TW) 1/21/1997 Cedi Osman 4/8/1995 Devonte' Graham 2/22/1995 Kenrich Williams 12/2/1994 Vasilije Micić 1/13/1994 Dāvis Bertāns 11/12/1992 Doug McDermott 1/3/1992 That said, it's going to be really frustrating if they go into next season with the same-ish roster plus maybe two more FRPs. The franchise is in a tough spot: they have got to find some vets to make the game the easier for the young guys, but it's also too soon to give up on the young ones.
  3. I’m going to quote my friend, a long time spurs employee, who almost assuredly shares the same opinion about Kawhi Leonard that Pop has, “As impressive as he is on the basketball court, that’s how unimpressive he is as a human being.” Now, that was several years ago and time heals all wounds and Pop is always going to take the high road publicly… but you are off your rocker if you think they give fuck one about his feelings.
  4. They genuinely don't seem to like each other. It was fun to be there last night, despite the score. Most of the game, until the fourth quarter, OKC had somebody else guarding Wemby with Chet coming over from the weakside. I wanted to see a little more of them going at each other.
  5. I was going to type out a long response to this, but suffice it to say that yes, you are in the minority opinion on this. This reads like bad fan fiction. I don't know what the fuck was going through Pop's head when he took the mic that night. I think he just lost his shit from the frustration of losing. I wish he would have done it last night though, "Excuse me for a second. Can we stop the booing and let this pedophile play? It's not who we are. Knock off the booing."
  6. From what I can tell, they lost all four starters on the dline, their best LB and three DBs. I guess they go as Klubnik and that offense goes, and I don't trust him at all. Deshaun Watson and Trevor Lawrence aren't walking though that door. And even if they were, they don't have the dynamic playmakers at WR that they used to and they've never been dominant on the OL. How on earth can Dabo not even fart in the general direction of the portal? It's gross negligence at this point. Aug. 31: vs. Georgia (Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta) Sept. 7: vs. APPALACHIAN STATE Sept. 14: Open Date Sept. 21: vs. NC STATE Sept. 28: vs. STANFORD Oct. 5: at Florida State Oct. 12: at Wake Forest Oct. 19: vs. VIRGINIA Oct. 26: Open Date Nov. 2: vs. LOUISVILLE Nov. 9: at Virginia Tech Nov. 16: at Pitt Nov. 23: vs. THE CITADEL Nov. 30: vs. SOUTH CAROLINA The schedule is obviously hot garbage. Georgia is the only certain L. They should be a dog against Florida State - on the road, DJU revenge game. They don't play Miami, UNC or Notre Dame. I don't know that I can find three more L's there. No idea what Louisville, NC State, Virginia Tech or Scar bring back. But hell... they were 4-4 in that dog ass conference last season and lost to Duke, got hot in November, but still barely beat a very middling Kentucky in the Gator Bowl. They can easily fall prey to the typical week-in/week-out ups and downs of a college football season. They can't just out-talent the rest of this conference any more, and everybody on their schedule has them circled. As a mensa member once said, "Winning is hard." It's even harder when you willfully ignore available avenues to upgrade your roster, and your coach isn't much of an x's and o's guy to begin with.
  7. My first thoughts exactly. The biggest place he coached in college was Western fucking Kentucky. And he can't even point to an NFL developmental track record. Somebody needs to get the Texas One Fund on speed dial.
  8. The thing about Clemson is that they were competing for national titles annually for most of that time period. Lots of eyeballs in the playoffs. I do wonder how much they move the needle if Dabo continues to slowly drive them into a ditch. Will people tune in if they aren't one of the top teams in the country? I guess Jesus will still watch. Teams that have struggled over that time (e.g., Texas, USC, TN, Auburn, Florida) and still show up in that graphic seems more indicative of true drawing power. Also... anybody notice the premier SEC team in Texas notably missing from that graphic?
  9. The non-Wemby highlight of the game was Giddey getting booed when the ball got stuck behind the backboard and he used a broom to punch it out. They booed him holding a broom. The OKC rebuild has been pretty amazing though. People knew that SGA was going to be really good after his rookie year with the Clippers, but nobody thought he would be this good. Jalen Williams was a steal at 12. I like Sochan, but the Spurs would take a do-over on that one. Holmgren should have been the first pick in his draft. And they have added so many solid role guys off the waiver wire or late in the draft - Dort, Isiah Joe, Wiggins. Kenrich Wiggins was a throw-in in a trade. But all those motherfuckers outside of Giddey can shoot from three. SGA and Jalen Williams can create their own shot pretty much whenever they want and you can't sag or attack them because of the other guys outside shooting. That's a team built for today's NBA. They are going to be a motherfucker for years. Outside of Wemby, the Spurs have no one who can create their own shot one on one. They are obviously in desperate need of shooting, but they are also in desperate need of a creator. They are going to be alright, though. They really, really, really need to nail this upcoming draft.
  10. Yeah, college athletics were much better when Sam Gilbert was paying players under the table and UCLA was winning the tourney every year.
  11. I went tonight too. OKC shot lights out. Spurs perimeter defense is ass. Too many turnovers. Too many second chance points. Too much SGA. Giddey got booed every time he touched the ball. Wasn’t expecting that. Wemby v Chet is going to be fun for years but anybody that thinks Chet is a better player or should be roty is a moron. The rest of the spurs roster has a loooooooong way to go to catch up to OKC.
  12. Before we fatwa him, we should settle that Ketch co-host debate.
  13. Listed as questionable but he sat out shootaround this morning. Assuming he sits. Shit, Pop will probably have him on minutes restriction until after the All Star break. Sucks for the Wemby/Chet matchup. Jones has been making everybody look better lately, especially Wemby and Sochan. I don't mind seeing more Blake Wesley, though. Digging his effort and energy lately. GSG.
  14. Yeah... this is horrible: https://universitystar.com/24868/sports/transfer-quarterback-settles-civil-suit-stemming-from-sexual-assault-case/
  15. Dinner? Drinks? I'm not a big fan of many of the food options down there but for drinks? Sure. Esquire, especially downstairs, although the upstairs is cool too. The bar in the hotel havana is another one, and while technically on the river, it's away from the riverwalk. The restaurant there Ocho is fine, too (better for brunch). If you get out of the heart of downtown, Elsewhere is a good place, but it's outdoors so pass on it with the rain. I like Tre Trattoria for Italian on the river next to the art museum but it's also better if you can sit outside. Those two are essentially next to each other.
  16. I don't know exactly where this goes, but seems relevant here. Also this: I wonder how the Big 10 is going to draw on CBS vs. the old SEC games going forward.
  17. Ruined? He's going to get $4 million/yr for the next 3.5 years, and will likely get another assistant job. Somebody can ruin me all they want like that.
  18. For sure. Their defense has been atrocious all year. It's certainly not good enough to win a championship. Shitcanning Bud because Giannis got hurt in the playoffs and then couldn't make a free throw and then shit down his own leg at crunch time seemed a bit knee jerk to me. I know Bud had his faults especially in the playoffs, but he did coach them to a championship. Also... they promoted another former Spurs assistant Joe Prunty (yes, the same one who replaced Jason Kidd when he got fired there years ago) but it looks like they want to make a a more permanent move and Doc Rivers is being floated. I know Prunty plenty well and think he's a choad, but still better than Doc.
  19. I don't know that I get to 20. In no particular order: Jokic Embiid Giannis Luka SGA Tatum Halliburton AD Lebron Curry Branham KD Kawhi Lillard Booker Donovan Mitchell Jamal Murray Ant Man PG13 Who am I missing? Fox? Sabonis? Brunson?
  20. I always liked Scary Terry. He's a great fit for Miami. I didn't realize he was averaging 23 ppg. While I get that he's a bit redundant with Ball, I don't really understand why Charlotte would move off him for Lowry's expiring deal and what is sure to be a fairly well protected first round pick. Rozier has a reasonable deal for two more years after this. I guess they are fully embracing the tank?
