  1. Their roster has been gutted of its depth. They need warm bodies. Unless whoever they bring in is a bad culture fit (as if such a thing exists there), what is the down side? They are throwing shit against the wall to see if anything sticks. They will find some contributors, strictly from a numbers perspective. I don't blame them one bit for doing this. It's better than doing nothing and having empty scholarship slots. Or... all these portal guys "get" A&M. No more of those dope smoking 5 star premadonnas who take naps during practice. Now that they have a real coach who knows what discipline looks like and got rid of all the malcontents, he can install a winning culture and wake the sleeping giant. Whoop!
  2. Embiid was out of his mind, goes for 70 including 21-23 from the line, Wemby was in foul trouble and on minutes restriction, and they still only lost by 10. Losing sucks but good stuff is happening and they’re getting better.
  3. Great first half from the Spurs. Embiid going off and Wemby more than holding his own. If they could get an offensive rebound they could be on to something.
  4. Was Wright the one who got the nickname "chips" while he was in school? IIRC it was something derogatory about him cashing all of his chips and not giving it everything in the weight room. Not that it matters and not that I'm against the potential hire, but am I remembering that correctly? Also, as good of a coach as Bo Davis is and god bless that man for his portal rant, his recruiting hasn't been exactly awe inspiring. You can argue that DT is the thinnest spot on the roster. There's no denying the impact he had on Coburn, Ojomo, Sweat, and Murphy, but even in his first run through here he wasn't exactly pulling in 5 star monsters on the regular. Paul Boyette, Jake McMillon and Alex Norman aren't walking through that door, thankfully. All the DT contributors since Davis has been here - Murphy, Coburn, Ojomo, Sweat, Collins, and Broughton - were brought in by the prior coaching staff. Davis pulled in Kris Ross (got in the mothafucka), Bledsoe (has flashed potential), Bryant (little production yet), Mitchell (nada yet/FR), Trill (portal in and out), and then two 3- stars in January (legacy) and Hills for this cycle. I get that his recruits have been blocked for playing time by upperclassmen, but this isn't exactly awe inspiring DT recruiting.
  5. Timu would have also played for PK his senior year at UW, and would have been a GA under PK at UW for two year as well after his playing career ended.
  6. Lol fuck no. Not in a million years. I don't care what the numbers say, the only ones that really count are wins and losses -- and Trae Young plays losing basketball. Period. He's a loser. He had one good series against the imploding Ben Simmons 76ers, another against the shitty Knicks where he acted like a douchebag, and the rest of his career is defined by killing coaches and repeatedly getting hunted on defense. The last thing on earth the Spurs need is a ball dominant undersized heliocentric bad teammate chucker who plays zero defense. I wouldn't give Atlanta a single one of their picks back for him. I don't think I would even give up Malaki Branham for him. I wouldn't take him, his 36% three point percentage, his shitty contract, his terrible lettuce and his world's most punchable face on the Spurs for free.
  7. Great photo. Isn’t that Marvin Bagley he’s dunking on? It’s a weird angle and he’s kinda crouched but Bagley is 6’9” and he’s at Wemby’s hip.
  8. I’m getting there anyway, although I’m already committed to going up to Kansas in a few weeks to check out the Phog and watch them smash us one last time.
  9. Maybe he can use some of that sweet pancake factory cash to buy a vowel.
  10. 1. You are making a lot of assumptions about wealthy athletes in their early 20s wanting to live in Oklahoma. After that second contract, good luck. You know who else just cared about basketball? Kawhi Leonard. 2. Go talk to Seattle about basketball karma. 3. Cason Wallace is absolutely fantastic. 4. They are in a fantastic spot going forward: SGA is on a team friendly deal, tons of young talent and a treasure trove of picks. Fun times now and ahead for OKC fans. I'm interested to see how they do when teams start getting up for them and how they do in the playoffs.
  11. This is absolutely mind blowing to me. In the rare occasion that a coach takes over a championship level program (Miles at LSU, Riley at OU, Day at Ohio State, Larry Coker at Miami), the first few years are on auto pilot. If the guy sucks, some cracks will start to show but it generally takes a while for the rot to creep in. Deboer just went in and blew up the machine that greatest coach in the history of college football built over 17 years? The portal stuff may be largely out of Deboer's control, but this should be the easy part.
  12. It's seems really odd what's going on with Deboer. I get that the situations are different, but he didn't gut UW. He won with primarily with Peterson's guys plus a few key portal adds (Penix, the RB from MSU, Muhammed, etc.). I know a good portion of this is due to forces out of his control, but he seems content watching it burn to the ground.
  13. I'm on the bama athletic department email list. And this nugget came through a little while ago.
  14. Can any of the $9.95ers confirm whether karma is on an official or unofficial visit?
  15. Looks like the league was willing to let the authorities do the heavy lifting on this before doing anything. With the girl and her family not cooperating, the legal system unsurprisingly couldn't do shit. I'm not getting into the morality of all this, but it's not difficult to connect the dots if the family hired Gloria Allred. You don't do that if nothing happened. This looks like a classic shakedown, but the league has an obligation to look into it. What do they do if they find out that Giddey paid her off? Good times ahead with the players association.
  16. Would be nice to finally tap into that Alamo Heights pipeline.
  17. They killed off the only black guy on the entire show. And then adorned his tombstone with "Beloved Brother." That cracked me up. The way they shot the scenes during the raid with the intermittent black screens was fucking annoying as hell. I suppose it was to build up suspense, but I thought it was super distracting and killed the pacing. Even a fade in/out would have worked better if they wanted to go for something like that. I was getting frustrated watching that. There were for sure some plot holes, but all in all, great show.
  18. So where does Bama roughly rank in the SEC when it comes to NIL? They are certainly well behind Texas, Georgia, and A&M. I would assume they are also behind Florida, LSU, Mizzou, TN and Ole Miss. Probably OU and Auburn as well? Who is left? Arkansas, MSU, KY, Scar, and Vandy? Who are they actually outspending? And how on earth are they going to sell a guy who made his bones in NAIA, spent some time at fucking Indiana, and then two years at Fresno State plus two at UW with a 30 year old QB? All with a staff from a similar background plus Freddie Roach? They gonna get killed. I think Deboer is a really, really good coach. And well, he better be.
  19. Underestimate captains of industry like Phyllis from Mulga and Pee Wee from Grand Bay at your own peril, sir.
  20. Maybe the Celtics will get bored or their arms will get tired from making all these threes.
  21. Not only did he force his way out of Denver, he made the Knicks gut their roster to get him so he could sign a larger contract when he could have gone to NY as a free agent at the end of the season. He screwed both franchises. Is that considered a good return? I guess they both could have walked for nothing at the end of the season so it beats a bag full of nothing. Boy has the price of trading for talent taken a nose dive since the Rudy Gobert and Dejounte Murray trades. I suppose most of the contending teams are tapped out on picks and everybody else is hoarding them. Things are going to get really weird once the highest salary cap tier gets triggered.
  22. If Bama were to take a step back next year, I'm sure their fans will be very patient and understanding.
  23. I would actually take extra satisfaction winning with a bunch of Bama deflectors after all the kids they've bought from Texas over the past 15 years. It would be more effective Don't Mess with Texas advertising than the old Stevie Ray Vaughn ad.
  24. For one game for the future of the universe? Are you fucking kidding me? We have a literal head to head comparison on with the biggest stakes in basketball on the line, and Horry destroyed him. I'm taking Robert Horry and not touching Rasheed with a ten foot pole. Ironically, ten feet is about how far away Rasheed is when Horry rises up to drill the game winner.
