  1. In your defense, the SEC championship game will likely be tougher than the Big 12 championship game last year. Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, the play was fantastic.
  2. I'm having a very, very difficult time separating Rasheed Wallace the dickhead from Rasheed Wallace the basketball player, precisely because his being a dickhead directly and profoundly diminished his impact as a basketball player. You can't polish a turd in any era. You do realize that Bill Russell won 4 MVPs while Wilt Chamberlain was in his prime, right? How exactly do you reconcile your stance on Wilt vs. your stance on Russell? You think a guy who shot 51% from the FT line and 54% from the field (with a huge physical advantage against his peers) for his career would dominate in a pace and space era where he would see 20x as many guys his size and face an uncountable number of dudes more athletic than his in-era competition?
  3. I don't want to say that the warriors are officially finished but they lost to Memphis who was playing without Ja, Bane, Smart, Adams, Brandon Clark and D Rose on a night where their only good player JJJ went 4-20.
  4. I didn't even see Russell play, but I don't need to. I definitely saw Rasheed. If I'm doing my top 10 all time, I'm only doing guys who I saw play. So that's essentially post-ABA merger. A cop out, I know. Jordan is number 1. It's not even a debate for me. I probably go Magic at 2. Nobody controlled a game like him. Lebron is 3, somewhat reluctantly. I could lean Kareem for 4, but I mostly remember him when he was old and bald so I think my memory of him is tainted. So gimme Bird at 4. I hated him but he was an absolute killer. I have no qualms admitting I'm a Spurs homer, but I have Duncan at 6 unapologetically. I'm putting Jokic at 7 and that's projecting a bit on the rest of his career since he's only 28. I think he wins MVP this year and probably rings again, and then the narrative on him goes through the roof. But what happens when he loses a step? Nothing, he never had a step to begin with. He probably plays at this level until he's close to 40 or just gets tired of the hassle and says "fuck it, I'm going bar hopping in Serbia for the rest of my days." I have such mixed emotions about Kobe but that fucker was amazing when he was on. I'd probably have him higher if he wasn't such a shitty teammate and ball hog. Curry changed the game. I'm not sure it's for the better, but he's the best shooter I've ever seen and a champion / winner. I throw Shaq in at 10. He could have been #1 if he cared half as much as Kobe. 1. MJ 2. Magic 3. Lebron 4. Bird 5. Kareem 6. Duncan 7. Jokic 8. Kobe 9. Curry 10. Shaq
  5. Poor, poor Alabama is all in their feelings because mean old Texas is poaching their players. "Texas just declared war on Alabama?" Uh, you started it buddy. Fucking hypocrites with their heads in the sand about how things went down pre-NIL. If only we could go back to the good old days when recruits were bought and sold under the table with a push from sleazebag street agents and uncles with their hands out. I think Deboer is a really good coach, but I am rooting hard for him to fail miserably and get crushed under the weight of Alabama expectations and weak NIL backing. https://www.al.com/alabamafootball/2024/01/goodman-texas-declares-war-on-alabama.html
  6. Bill Russell was an 11 time champion, 5 time MVP, had his #6 retired by every NBA team, was inducted into the basketball hall of fame twice (once as a player and once as a coach), and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his role in the civil rights movement. He is generally regarded as one of the greatest leaders and winners in the history of sports, not just basketball. Rasheed Wallace came into training camp out of shape every year, holds the NBA record for technical fouls and ejections, once threw a towel in his teammates face, got busted for weed, challenged a referee to a fight on a loading dock, challenged his coach to a fight in the locker room and charged him, and once held a bitchy press conference where he answered every question with, "both teams played hard." I'm far from one of those, "back in the old days" guys, but Bill Russell was the ultimate winner and teammate. Rasheed Wallace was a jackass.
  7. That was a winable game. Vassell can't go 1-13 when Wemby is out and the spurs get the win. But they were game and they seem to be playing harder especially on defense. This group is gonna be alright.
  8. Your defensive line coach Freddie Roach was... not added. Please select another defensive line coach. Goodbye and good luck.
  9. Alabama and Georgia are both now officially farm teams for our wr room.
  10. They’ve been playing better for sure but the competition has been much easier. There’s some opportunities for more wins coming up as well. Collins and Bassey being out has been a blessing in disguise too. The rest of the team is starting to realize that the game is easier for them if they play through Wemby. Once they truly understand how to do that, then all of the role guys start to look like legitimate NBA players.
  11. There’s some crazy stat like this every other night now. He doesn’t even know what he’s doing out there yet. I can’t imagine what he’s going to be in 3 years.
  12. He looks like he’s playing on a nerf hoop mounted on top of a door. Jfc.
  13. Look at the spurs doing crazy shit like recognizing mismatches on offense and actually hustling on defense. And McBuckets is on fire.
  14. Great hire by Bama. Deboer is the most obvious best option out there, but the most obvious best option rarely turns out to be the best hire. Bama is a much different animal than UW or anywhere else he's ever coached.
  15. The developmental minutes for Wemby are more important than ping pong balls right now, especially in this cruddy draft. I would be absolutely stunned if they put him on the shelf if he were really healthy.
  16. The absolute worst was that little pause right after "class" while the TRS-80 that was running TEX did whatever the fuck it was doing behind the scenes, "This class was.... (hold your breath, pray, cross fingers, make pagan sacrifice, etc.) ...not added. It was just a half a beat, but it seemed like 10 minutes, followed by me screaming every cuss word I could think of at the phone. Fuck you TEX and the PTSD this thread is causing me.
  17. Man, this is an interesting time for Bama to make a coaching hire. Their NIL is behind but it hasn't hurt them as much in recruiting yet because Saban can just point to how they develop and get guys to the NFL. That's a real sales pitch - you aren't going to make much cash in school, but look at what's waiting for you if you come here and put in the work. I'm not sure how you sell that with any of the prospective hires. LSU was able to maintain what Saban built and two retards were able to ride it to championships. But that was pre-portal and pre-NIL. Bama is at a precarious place.
  18. Jesus god holy fuck no. I saw something about it too and had a visceral reaction. The last thing Wemby needs is a ball dominant heliocentric chucker taking low percentage shots early in the clock all the while playing zero defense. And he’s a bad entitled guy, too, who plays losing basketball. Complete anti-spur on every level. I would rather Sochan run point than have that bitchass with his shitty lettuce and worlds most punchable face on my squad. Why don’t you just go after Chris Paul or get Karl Malone out of retirement while you’re at it?
  19. @SydneyCarton Not being pedantic and I'm not sure how this is even relevant, but according to the googletrons the Cleveland-Akron-Canton MSA is 3.7 million people. Columbus - Marion - Zainesill is 2.6 million. Cleveland is significantly larger. Both are significantly shitholes.
