  1. No doubt, 100% there are a lot of people that admire Charlie Kirk for his racism and J6 insanity. But I think, at least from what I've witnessed, is that most people actually admired Charlie Kirk for his evangilism and fervent defense of his (and by extension, their) beliefs and religion. They see him as a lion for their faith in an unchurched, biblically hostile world (even in the big tent of Christianity, where there are faiths and churches who are more "progressive" in views).
  2. I get that is our and a lot of people's subjective opinion, but I think what a large segment of our society is saying is that they (in varying degrees of vehemency) disagree.
  3. It's made me think of Martin Luther. I was raised to only know how awesome he was and integral for the Protestent revolution and how great of a man he was, total veneration. It was only recently I learned how hateful he was in other aspects of his speech. In fact, Nazi Germany used some of his language and speeches to justify their horrors (things we certainly weren't taught as children). You can say and do good things in one aspect of your life while also being vile and hateful in another. It's rare that you are viewed holistically I think and it's more a judgment through the lens you have.
  4. Ah, I just read something that I think gets to the raw unvarnished truth of why Nexstar did this and of course, it's currying of political favor:
  5. Have you (or anyone) been following what's going on with The Phillipines? What about Nepal? If not, and I'm not trying to shame anyone for being myopic or unworldly, but social media (and online communities of discord) has absolutely been the catalyst for political (positive) change. Heck the election for the new leader in Nepal was an INTERNET POLL conducted on DISCORD for cying out loud. I'm happy to share some interesting reading material if you are unaware or curious.
  6. I think it changes in November fwiw.
  7. You mean MS NOW 😛
  8. It's a popular response when something happens to say, "Freedom of Speech is not the freedom from consequences, it's just that the government can't punish you". In this case it seems that most people are drawing a direct line of the government pressuring ABC to fire Kimmel. That may be the case but it does seem like it's absolving the business and corporate interests (Nexstar, Disney/ABC, etc.) of their automony and decision-making in kowtowing to either a) government pressure or b) fear of financial and public backlash for not doing anything. I guess I need to read more about it but my skeptical and contrarian mind defaults to just because the Dotard and weirdos celebrated this online doesn't mean that it's not actually the broadcasters who are to blame (and they think they are serving their best financial interests).
  9. I read somewhere and I tend to agree-- it's not JUST the politics driving this, but also AI and the way the business model has evolved away from television, that all of media is regressing and it will look less like the 2000's and more liek the 1400's and the Medici's where you've got like 3 or 4 powerful families (but, corporations) who control and pay for all the content creation and distribution. You'll have the alt-right one, the conservative one, the lesser conservative one and the liberal one. If you've been following The David Ellison Skydance stuff (nepo baby to 10 days ago world's richest man Larry, briefly overtaking Elon as Oracle's earnings gave the stock a pop) and the the Lachlan Murdoch succession drama of Fox properties, the die seems cast for the forseeable future... I'm like a lot of folks who posted that Jimmy Kimmel is not only not funny but actually annoys and grates me with his attempts at humor, so I don't watch. But this isn't about him or his show anymore, it's the principle(s) at play now. The media business was never not owned by corporations. You can actually argue that the internet disruption actually democratized terrestial media (e.g. streaming, YouTubers, Influencers and short form content creators) in a way that has hurt the legacy media machine. AI will likely hurt the Hollywood complex as well.
  10. But you do have to admit those videos of Hamas having their beepers explode is satisfying (because Hamas, not Palestinians, are the bad guys).
  11. Something tells me you haven't followed the sibling succession and the agreement ole Lochlan locked in last week...
  12. You guys are making the point: you only draft a generational talent in the first round at the RB position. In modern times that means names like Saquan Barkely, Derek Henry and MAYBE gusy like Bijan Robinson, Christian McAffrey & Jahymr Gibbs (jury is still out). The other names of first round RB's taken in the past 10 years are 2nd round or later production, value and grades in hindsight: Rashaad Penny, Najee Harris, Travis Etienne, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Josh Jacobs, Leonard Fournette, Ezekiel Elliott, Todd Gurley, Melvin Gordon, and Sony Michel. Anyways, the question is: Ashton Jeanty a generational talent worth taking at #7 in the first round? We won't definitively know until years later, but after two weeks, is he on bust alert given the hype and draft pick?
  13. Everyone knows to take a Mountain West RB at #7 overall pick for the competent pass blocking?
  14. Is Ashton Jeanty, #7 pick overall, on official bust alert? Yes No Other
  15. It's so easy to know, in this day and age and with technology, if things were doctored. It's like @aggie08said, you can't just delete a text and then there is no evidence of it. Metadata exists. backend systems exist. databases exist. archival systems with pedobytes of data exist. Maybe Kash just pulled up adobe and invented this and then put his name on it, but I highly doubt it.
  16. I think bombing Qatar was overreach and Israel was foolhardy in that risk. But the Anti-Israel conspiracy theories around Charlie Kirk are what are going to be the break. Because...people.
  17. Also, TIL I learned that George Zinn the 71 year old guy that was detained initially 7 days ago (seems like weeks at this point), was arrested for child porn which was found on his phone while police were going through it while he was briefly under investigation. A broken clock being right twice a day, indeed. https://www.newsweek.com/who-george-zinn-man-accused-fake-charlie-kirk-confession-2131012
  18. I love that we can just use this shutterstock photo now and everyone reads the nonexistent headline in their head.

  20. @DDD Dad for an old guy, you represent us well. Your gif and response game is 20 years younger than you, at least. ++++rep
  21. I said this Friday after seeing the picture of the kid in his bedroom before we knew anything about anything and I'm going to look into being an FBI detective now:
  22. I go through a 16 and 17 year olds phone from time to time and I 100% agree. Suspiciously (or, er, suss) there is a lack of ngl, lowkeys, and weird abbreviations that don't even seem to be about saving time typing out the full word like, js, fr, lk, etc.
  23. Israel was brazen and we cosigned the document. How you can't see that means you aren't following or you are being dishonest. Now, to whether in the end it will TRULY matter-- hard to say. The emergency meeting of the region just wrapped, I expect we would have been behind the scenes kissing rings and rears and apologizing profusely for the last 72 hours, so maybe we can just take the slap on the wrist, lost a couple aura points to Qatar and KSA, and rebuild it later, idk. But I don't think it happens again (I don't think we let it happen again, that is to say) and I think Trump gets to keep the Qatari AF1 and we all collectively move on, because as the bonesaw should have told us out back, geopolitics in the Middle East calls for a lot more broken eggs than the usual omeletes.
  24. Joe Rogan was a big fan apparently (I did some searches of his videos) and it does seem he was quite the wit. The english accent is always worth an extra half point too when it comes to public intellectualism IMO.
  25. Qatar is one of our best allies in the region and we have a great relationship and a rather substantial military base and presence in the region thanks to Qatar. Their continued friendliness is an asset and to brazenly burn relationship equity is foolish.
