  1. Dude that New Yorker article is nuts. A long read but worth it. Two things that really jumped out at me: they will let any legacy into Harvard and wow didn’t realize the hardcore drugs he was on.
  2. Should have read the whole thread first. Someone else saw it immediately as well haha.
  3. "Luckily, I have cat-like reflexes" sent me.
  4. I actually liked the dialogue a lot this season. There are multiple scenes, usually at least one a week, that is downright Shakespearean in my opinion.
  5. Agree, and with the real King's healing and walking, it was hard to determine based on his wounds healing/scarring on his face and ears, exactly how much time had lapsed, but it was obvious there was a decent jump. They are no longer dealing with wet bloody wounds, at least like last episode.
  6. That guacamole was the bigger offender IMO. Straight out of the box of the refirigerated aisle of HEB.
  7. I actually don't mind Daemon being flummoxed and taken down a peg this season and struggling with a bunch of inferior house Lords and a castle that's falling apart and dealing with the witch who is obviously manipulating him to some degree. I think it's an interesting use of his character because, frankly, I thought his character as this impetuous and impulsive loose cannon great warrior was contrived and stupid and is a worse option.
  8. You hate dynamic pricing, wait until you hear about it's cousin, "surveillance pricing": https://www.ftc.gov/news-events/news/press-releases/2024/07/ftc-issues-orders-eight-companies-seeking-information-surveillance-pricing Agency seeks information about products and services that use personal data, including finances and browser history, to set individualized prices for the same goods or services. The FTC issued civil subpoenas to eight companies in financial services and consulting—including Mastercard, JPMorgan, and McKinsey—that advertise targeted pricing products to clients like Starbucks, McDonald’s, Home Depot, and Kirkland’s.
  9. Can you, though?
  10. I admit I was wrong. I don't know if I was just in denial or just old and tone deaf, but I thought pivoting from Biden with 3.5 months left was stupid. I didn't expect this level of energy and excitement for Kamala. I'm very impressed.
  11. Alright, well more $25 Paxlovid for me and my family then (but it was surprising to hear that the pharmacies around me were low/out of it).
  12. I was reading an Atlantic article on the Woodstock '99. There really was a small sliver of time '97-'01 maybe, when crap like Limp Bizkit and Kid Rock and Korn had the attention and buy-in of America's youth. Crazy.
  13. say what? Costs $25 with insurance, brother. I tell people it's like Tamiflu but for Covid.
  14. My specialist told me I was the 5th person in the last 24 hours when I reported I got the 'Vid. I got the Paxlovid and it took about 2.5 days for me to feel much better. Honestly it kicked my butt about the same as the first time I had it (OG strain, pre-vax). The Delta variant, my second covid, was easily the weakest and easiest. My neighbor has it, two of my kids friends have it, and I joined a work call yesterday where 3 of the 7 particpants had it. As disparate as Cali, Texas, New Jersey, so it's not just a regional thing, it seems.
  15. This is epic. How do you parlay this? Do you wait for them to come to you tail between legs? Or do you proactively send an email or eyes emoji their way? Either way, get your flowers on the next company All Hands
  16. To be honest I’m not that informed to get into a deep political conversation with this guy, but it was a shock. And this isn’t a neighborhood with any political signage at all, but certainly you wouldn’t think would be Trumpy. I’ll bring it up next time we speak; I’ve been hesitant
  17. I love the sentiment, but is it true he went golfing day after? I thought that was debunked.
  18. What is literally insane to me is I have a neighbor three doors down whom I love. He’s such a great guy and has a great family— they are Palestinian and by all accounts have been very successful financially in the 25 years they’ve been here (and I’ve seen their adult son with a Free Palestine shirt once when he visited). This guy told me last weekend he doesn’t like Biden and is voting Trump. wut
  19. Here is the irony in DFW: Darden buys Chuys at the expense of ole Eddie V’s, the original “sold out and got crappier” The Dallas location of Eddie V’s Prime Seafood is closing after 14 years on Oak Lawn Avenue. The restaurant’s last day of service will be July 28, CultureMap reported. Eddie V’s, which is owned by the same group over Olive Garden, Yard House, The Capital Grille and Seasons 52, first opened in Austin in 2000. The Dallas location opened in April 2010.
  20. I’m an idiot and old and not tech savvy so forgive me for being wrong here— it was cloudflare not crowdstrike who had the public flailing for mismanagement of a RIF.
  21. Remember, this was the company who mismanaged layoffs and made national news just mere months ago. This company doesn’t seem well run…. I think competitors will start eating their lunch (if they aren’t already I know next to nothing about the industry they are in. Maybe Splunk or WIZ or someone like that are competing?)
  22. Biden still has a lot of bullets in the gun before election that can give him tailwind: There WILL be a rate cut, which he can tout for fighting against inflation, the stock market will continue to do numbers, so he can keep talking about the best economy while inflation drops, the USA will dominate in the Olympics which always boosts patriotism and morale that Biden can ride, and the general incumbancy strength will be a buttress-- don't change horses in midstream.
