  1. TIL @Brian Fantanadidn't go to UT but to TTU and somehow everything all makes sense, while still not.
  2. Internet Gold. ::quietly looks around:: I am one of those people...
  3. How dare you?
  4. Saw you cross posted this in CR. Super topical because I'm revisiting Lincoln in the Bardo right now. Saunders will go down as a generational talent.
  5. I find his brand of caustic humor funny. I thought it was funny when he was bumping the Biden thread (pro-Biden, anti-MAGAT) too.
  6. Lots of Levites and Benjamins in Arkansas, eh? haha
  7. Detaining in a mental hospital is another form of imprisonment. What's your main point?
  8. Upon more reflection this does make a lot of sense to me. I guess I was speaking from the lens of Judaism being the Patriach of the Abrahamic religions (e.g. Jacob/Israel) and the Israelites/Hebrews being God's chosen race, with both Islam and Christianity being offshoots and later "grafted onto the vine". But I see that interpretation actually does fall short when you explain it that way and, to the point of the current events, makes the Israel/Palestine and Jew/Muslim dynamic even more contested and impossibly complicated and inherently conflicted when looking at current events from a religious (non-secular) point of view (again, not a given based on @BrickHorns comments of actual drivers today).
  9. In that sense it is interesting. Not to turn this into a full-on religious discussion, but I've long said Christianity and Islam have more in common than they appreciate on the surface with respect to Judaism being the odd man out of the three Abrahamic religions (or the sole legitimate odd man in, depending on your perspective).
  10. Just wait until they stumble upon the AI boyfriend/girlfriend thread.
  11. As I mentioned, the "create your own track" is the only thing that could curb the boringness, but agree with you it's fleeting. To show you just how insane Tetris is, the perfect game ever just came recently, and it had to be aided by technology. A perfect game for end of the world and only two games to choose from until you die scenarios: https://games.slashdot.org/story/24/01/02/1658246/tetris-has-finally-been-beaten-after-34-years
  12. I could dust off punch-out today and in a couple of hours be at Tyson. Give me 48 hours and I've beat the game. Then what? Can't have that be my forever game. Same with Tecmo bowl. I downloaded the retro bowl mobile app (a dupe of tecmo bowl, https://retrobowlgame.io/) and while it's fun and lasts longer (you won't get bored based on the gamification of badges and seasons, etc.) it gets redundant too.
  13. You can narrow it down to a shortlist of 5 easy: SM3 Tetris Zelda MM2 Excite Bike — Assuming the prompt means you can only have 2 forever— replayability has to be high. Tetris you can play forever and not get a perfect game. Excite bike gives you the ability to create your own tracks for variety. But it’s boring. MM2 is fun but easy to beat. SM3 has a lot to it, as does Zelda. — Final verdict: 1) Tetris 2) Zelda
  14. I got that. Pretty obscure if you aren’t a cowboys fan.
  15. You are probably right. It just felt like fundamentally there are some base case issues at play and my mind wandered back to a religious foundation. I’m ignorant to what Israel Jewish society is like these days, but if I had to guess it’s probably as secular as ours and what religious zealots exist are as warped from the original intent as ours as well.
  16. I think it's hard for us Americans to really understand Zionism. It's like how the average Americans didn't understand the extremism of islam before 9/11 (though now we are starting to really see it with extremists of our own stripe). For Zionist's and some fervent Jews, the land is theirs. It's through a covenant with God and it's a birthright. It was given initially under the auspices of genocide (e.g. back-half of the Torah, Joshua, etc.) and so to persist with genocidal tendencies should not be shocking. Modern theory and applications of war and what is acceptable for thee, not me, when it comes to relgious-based war (on both all sides). I think there should be zero bones about it, Israel is trying to rid their land and take it back in total (West Bank & Gaza) because (from their minds) a) God is good and faithful to his chosen people b) it's been written and c) Might is Right. I think once Gaza has been taken, Dome of the Rock needs to be on alert.
  17. Holes. A Disney film which introduced the world to Shia LeBouf. Had never seen it, watched it with grandkids and it was pretty cool!
  18. True. Forgot about the, "need to take everything out of the garage and then put everything back in the garage, but in different ways and it will take 10-12 hours" summer days.
  19. This had to be requested. Like on a birthday or first day of school. You get some of these for no good reason as a surprise when you wake up and the Lord has shined upon you and it's a great day.
  20. After watching enough of Quinn…we win the national championship with Sanders at QB
  21. What happened? Did they just give up? Burn out? It’s an odd thing to hear about a Pit master or bbq joint losing its fastball and getting washed out in less than a generation (in this case about a decade). Seems like there’s gotta be obvious or attributable reasons.
  22. Having worked in that area a ton (OC) — UCI is still heavy commuter. It’s not called University of Chinese Immigrant for nothing. And I’m sure you’ll have noted that it’s egregiously hard to get into a good UC school (all the ones you mentioned including UCSD) being out of state. As in, she might have better luck getting into UT as a non-auto-admit.
  23. It never fails. The most popular guy in the team is the backup QB. Until he gets meaningful playing time.
