  1. I don't think he actually buys Twitter. I've read it might be difficult anyways, despite his wealth, because it's tied up in Tesla stock and he'd have to sell which seems like a bad divestment and investment, respectfully. Also Twitter has poison pill options to potentially block a takeover, but the question remains if investors even want the board to block this due to the aforementioned fiduciary (positive) reasons for Elon buying them out and taking them private. There is no business question that Twitter sucks as a business of making money and providing shareholder value to the ratio of its massive and outsized influence and power as a technology.
  2. Bezos lost half is fortune in a divorce in case you were asleep in 2019 or else who would still be wealthier (or close), I think. Elon knows better than to marry again and he's attracted to weirdo junky types like Grimes anyways who have so much cognitive dissonance because they are supposed to be New Left and Progressive and want to eat the rich and guillotine Musk types that their hypocrisy keeps them from marrying them, but not having rich little surrogate babies.
  3. "everything is securities fraud" is his occurring joke, which I guess could be true.
  4. Because it starts and stops with John F'ing Goodman.
  5. The right answer wasn't on the poll (though I picked the 2nd best, PSH). The right answer:
  6. In my opinion this is just example eleventy billion why most adults simply don’t trust numbers with government projects. There is always scope creep and/or moving financial mechanisms that always make the assumptions and model being voted on one that is “happy path” and unrealistically conservative as the real project implemented will be over budget and way over deadline.
  7. Had a dream about Adrian Beltre last night. Probably will be the baseball highlight of my year.
  8. And that is just playoffs. Longhorn alumni in the NBA are doing numbers! It's outrageous how many more, per capita as a ratio, Longhorn basketball players who are pro versus Longhorn football or baseball players.
  9. Brisket, Captain, I don’t know where you people come from or if you test your posts…the quality of your posts. Yalls posts are very delicious.
  10. Episode 3 was kinda interesting, loved the scenes and setting of Cairo. The whole Gods/Avatar thing and meeting of the minds was a bit cheesy, especially how big of a blind spot they seem to have with Harlow.
  11. what does her shirt say?
  12. What actually was that all about?
  13. Anthony Edwards and DeAngelo Russell saying "KAT, we got you this half, but you have to show up in the 3rd quarter my dude."
  14. Just read bout this DALL-E 2 and mind is blown.
  15. Ran across this funny link claiming Elon Musk is Satoshi: https://medium.com/coinmonks/highly-specific-commonalities-between-satoshi-nakamoto-and-co-founder-of-paypal-elon-musk-4120f36da702
  16. Welcome to Monday morning. Would you like some afternoon coffee, sleepyhead?
  17. I agree with you, which is why the conspiracy theory is a clever ruse of "I want to be on the Board (despite not wanting to be on the Board, because why would he?), so let me re-file to the 13D" and then once that filing is done allowing for him to be a pest and activist investor, saying "Nah, changed my mind."
  18. "On Monday morning Elon Musk filed a Schedule 13G disclosing that he owned 9.2% of Twitter Inc., which was a fun surprise. Part of the fun was that a 13G is a form that is used by passive investors who do not plan to meddle with the company’s management, and that doesn’t sound like Elon Musk. Activist investors are supposed to use the more detailed Schedule 13D. But Musk checked the passive investor box. Part of the fun was that Musk’s 13G seemed to be late? It seemed to say that Musk acquired 5% of Twitter’s stock on March 14, and under the rules he would have 10 calendar days — until March 24 — to file the 13G (or 13D). But he filed it on April 4, 11 days late. On Tuesday afternoon Elon Musk filed a Schedule 13D disclosing that he owns 9.1% of Twitter. So! This does not necessarily prove that he should have filed a 13D in the first place, or that his intentions were activist-y all along. Between Monday morning and Tuesday afternoon, various things changed." Based off the above, the interest in joining the board could have been a clever way to right-size, is the fun conspiracy theory at least.
  19. Someone said something today that is actually a lot more clever of Elon if true. He initially screwed up by filing the wrong papers (the non-activist investor easier papers). He famously ignores his general counsel and securities team, so that isn't surprising of a mistake. He filed the paper work to be a passive investor, people called him on it, and now after his nomination to the board was announced Musk refiled the more comprehensive form required of activist investors. Is it possible that Musk went along with Twitter’s offer just to give cover for his refiling?
  20. Sounds like it worked out more than great for you. There is no doubt though that going from UT undergrad to Yale Law would have been a proud moment, a prestigious feat, and would have opened up doors that you didn't have upon graduation, but then again you knew what you wanted and it was in Austin. Just saying for those who have shared experiences with ivies who were not impressed or found them to be pedestrian, keep in mind you are probably not dealing with the top of the class. Like I said, many aren't going from Harvard undergrad to UT Law on purpose as a first choice, most likely, though I'm sure someone can find a story where one did.
  21. No offense to UT law, but going from an Ivy undergrad to UT Law is not the move in the right direction. Your peers were the bottom 50% of their ivy cohorts most likely. The smarter ivies stayed in the ivy or little ivy bubble. The LSU undergrad going to UT Law, on the other hand, is probably the smartest guy in Baton Rouge.
  22. I read an interview with a Chinese foreign correspondent who seemed to know his stuff and this Zero-COVID policy is stiffling them. China put out a very aggressive goal of growing GDP by 5.5% and with mandatory lockdowns (the People's Army is being deployed to keep peace and maintain lockdowns in Shanghai where people are restless and food is getting scarce due to grocery stores and delivery being zapped) that growth won't happen. But also, and not to get too into China policy which is probably a different thread, Xi is up for renewal (I don't daresay re-election) this year and it's the 100th Communist Party anniversary this year I believe, so they don't want cities and people ravaged with disease so they are trying to maintain Zero-COVID lockdowns. Omicron and BA-2 and other Om variants will have a say otherwise, I think.
