  1. and the free throw made will make it a one possession game!
  2. UCLA with one last shot to get the lead down to one possession.
  3. Still a good game, but 22 points in a half. You can't ask for better D than that.
  4. oh wow! That is the dream matchup, now that Shaka is gone. FAU will have 21 points at half.
  5. I don't think we would have much of a chance against Tenn. team this motivated and aggressive.
  6. Tennessee is playing crazy good D....kind of reminds me of Barnes' D at Texas before January 31st. If we could have played the playoffs before the end of January we would have been final four several times, imo.
  7. I don't know anything about basketball, but remember the will of the Mavericks when they won it all. They had the iron will to keep going down the middle, keep driving to the basket. It seems strange that a coach might have to keep reminding the players, but I think players do fall in love with the 3 in many cases. RT proved he could get the players focused and with our athleticism, the drive to the basket will always be there. Friday is going to be tough driving the middle, I imagine, depending upon the athleticism of Xavier's 7 footer. If we can drive the hoop and get him in foul trouble, then that would be great. Speaking of big men, I remember the best battle of college big men I ever saw, Akeem vs. Ewing in the final four. Akeem had such incredible body control, it was amazing. He still got in some foul trouble though. But he could block shots to the nth degree.
  8. Incredible game! It is really hard to believe we could win in two completely different ways only 40 hours apart. The poor team preparing for us will not have have a clue how to prepare. The key number was 5, as in 5 turnovers and #5 driving to the hoop at the crucial time. The determination Carr showed to drive the lane while holding the ball in one arm was amazing. The thing I think I was most impressed with was the turnovers being reduced to next to nothing. As long as we stay loose and get the evenly called game, I feel very good about moving on.
  9. am in shock. Maybe Duke without K doesn't get preferential treatment down the stretch?
  10. time for refs to take over the game. start counting fouls for each team.
  11. and #4 on Tenn player. I would wager the first player with 5 fouls will be wearing white.
  12. Tenn needs to go inside every possession.
  13. best game of tourney so far? I think so.
  14. commentator sounds worse than Tony Romo.
  15. 1. The refs- since we are running into one of the hottest teams in the country, we must have an evenly called game. In addition, I know I am asking a lot, but the refs need to establish some type of consistency and maintain that level of consistency the entire game. 2. The sloppy ball handling...4 turnovers in a row stuff has to be eliminated. 3. Don't fall in love with the 3 ball, keep shooting, rebounding well. Stay within your self. If somehow all three of things actually happens, we win by 7 or more. We've got this. I feel cautiously optimistic about at least 2 of these 3.
  16. After a second look at that list of coaching records, it appears to need a bit of updating. Boeheim is now retired, and that list does not include Barnes' victory yesterday, so for the moment Barnes holds one distinction and about to hold another. 1. most years coaching in the tourney among active coaches. 2. Since he is tied, after Tenn. loses tomorrow he will be the leader for most losses in tournament play while maintaining a losing record in tourney play.
  17. yeah, I have no idea why I remember that except that Al McGuire was the commentator and he kept telling the Penn coach to put his star player back in the game in the 2nd half. The player was in serious foul trouble.
  18. amazing, Rick Barnes is tied with Huggins with the most losses for active coaches. Barnes has the most games coached and a winning percentage under 50%, unless he goes on a big run this year.
  19. speaking of scoring low numbers, anybody remember Penn scoring about 15 points or so in the first half? This was in the final four one year...totally embarrassing for the school.
  20. how about a team scoring less than 40?
  21. Pitt trying to hand it to Iowast, but they won't take it. Really bad quality.
  22. so refs threw a bone to Vermont, calling a foul on a 3. too little way too late.
