  1. ..so UConn has to cool down at some point, hopefully now. If they are as hot as they were tonight, we do not win, assuming we beat Miami tomorrow. I hope we win by about 5 points tomorrow and UConn is favored by a dozen or more points, and they go cold. They are going to hear from every fan how great they are for the next six days. They should be fat and happy by the time we get them.
  2. other than the unnecessary fourth on the Timme guy, I did not see any bias.
  3. We had a 17 point half time lead, and the 2nd half opened, with us playing against 8! 5 fouls called against us and 0 called against them. When the first foul was called against them with about 12 minutes left in the game, we had what a 19 point lead? Call it 17? The refs literally did all they could to help Xavier, and they still couldn't make any gains. My criteria remains intact. We still need fair officiating, and now I offer a qualifier. We need fair officiating throughout the game. Had there been fair officiating throughout the game, we would have been ahead by about 24-26 points at the 12 minute mark.
  4. I'm sure you guys have covered this already, but it just hit me that the only question remaining now is how many years on the contract, and what price? Maybe RT is so comfortable with this team that he honestly expects to be in the final four and he told CDC he would like to wait until the end? We win it all he gets what, an 8 year or 10 year deal? Is there such a thing? We get to final four and lose he gets a 6 year deal? We lose Sunday and it's a 5 year deal?
  5. .....any team in the history of Texas basketball? I'm an old, so I remember the 1977 team, and that team had an extreme amount of heart and chemistry because they didn't have very much talent. Went 26-5, and won the NIT when the NIT was something. From memory, Gary Goodner, Jim Krivacs, Ron Baxter, Tyrone Branyan, Johnny Moore. I think I just named the starters from that season, and only Ron and Johnny had potential NBA talent. Honestly, Ron was maybe on the bubble. But they worked so hard as a team, and that fabulous defense. That is the common thing from that team and this team, the great D. "Great defense never takes a day off" who said that? I think it is true. That team had something else this team has and that is the ability to play loose, all of the time. Btw, did we just win three games in three completely different ways? a. tonight, the Willis Reed gameplan b. whichever game it was, horrible 3s, but we needed the one we made. c. the great three point game. Where do we rate defensively among the elite 8? I would think 1 or 2, but don't have a clue. Finally, Fuck Jim Nantz. Once a Cougar, always a Cougar. Could not help himself...had to reference the 1991 Cotton Bowl loss to the U. It's still too soon. It will always be too soon. Glad the bum is leaving the building. Onto Sunday, and once again, the U has so many gameplans to look at they will not have a clue about which one to plan for. Hook 'em
  6. I like the three in a row, UConn, Gonzaga, Texas. I like the odds of one of those three winning.
  7. always liked Kevin Harlan...not sure why.
  8. rebound! and a 3!
  9. so you have to still foul....22 seconds on the shot clock.
  10. okay, now just play straight up D and don't foul...what about 15 seconds on the shot clock?
  11. I mean, it worked, but I would have preferred just stopping them.
  12. why foul?
  13. and the free throw made will make it a one possession game!
  14. UCLA with one last shot to get the lead down to one possession.
  15. Still a good game, but 22 points in a half. You can't ask for better D than that.
  16. oh wow! That is the dream matchup, now that Shaka is gone. FAU will have 21 points at half.
  17. I don't think we would have much of a chance against Tenn. team this motivated and aggressive.
  18. Tennessee is playing crazy good D....kind of reminds me of Barnes' D at Texas before January 31st. If we could have played the playoffs before the end of January we would have been final four several times, imo.
  19. I don't know anything about basketball, but remember the will of the Mavericks when they won it all. They had the iron will to keep going down the middle, keep driving to the basket. It seems strange that a coach might have to keep reminding the players, but I think players do fall in love with the 3 in many cases. RT proved he could get the players focused and with our athleticism, the drive to the basket will always be there. Friday is going to be tough driving the middle, I imagine, depending upon the athleticism of Xavier's 7 footer. If we can drive the hoop and get him in foul trouble, then that would be great. Speaking of big men, I remember the best battle of college big men I ever saw, Akeem vs. Ewing in the final four. Akeem had such incredible body control, it was amazing. He still got in some foul trouble though. But he could block shots to the nth degree.
  20. Incredible game! It is really hard to believe we could win in two completely different ways only 40 hours apart. The poor team preparing for us will not have have a clue how to prepare. The key number was 5, as in 5 turnovers and #5 driving to the hoop at the crucial time. The determination Carr showed to drive the lane while holding the ball in one arm was amazing. The thing I think I was most impressed with was the turnovers being reduced to next to nothing. As long as we stay loose and get the evenly called game, I feel very good about moving on.
  21. am in shock. Maybe Duke without K doesn't get preferential treatment down the stretch?
  22. time for refs to take over the game. start counting fouls for each team.
  23. and #4 on Tenn player. I would wager the first player with 5 fouls will be wearing white.
  24. changed the call!???
