  1. This is the weirdest post I've read. So basically, you think Bama not only can't cover anyone over 15 yards but that they'll actually HELP the Texas receiver catch the ball in stride? And you also feel that they will recognize how bad your o-line sucks in the run game, so out of a sense of fair play, they'll run at half-speed? How do you claim those deficiencies and then claim you match up well with Bama? "We can't throw the ball even intermediate range, and we can't run block. I think we matchup with Bama really well!" This has gotta be one of my favorite posts on any college football site.
  2. As they should be, when you're matching 5 star receivers like Evan Stewart and talented guys like Moose Muhammad against them. The problem has been that, even though Jimbo managed a 9-1 record and number 4 ranking recently, the inconsistency has been off the charts. Lost to Arkansas (for the first time in 10 years), lose to Mississippi State, then completely handle Alabama for 4 quarters, then lose two more. And then, of course, last year. Losing to App State? It's just nice to see a seriously fucking talented QB and some elite WR talent beating the shit out of an overmatched opponent, the way they should. My only moment of pleasure in last year's entire debacle of a season was knocking LSU out of the playoff hunt. And it wasn't close. We whupped that coonass. So yeah I'm gonna be pumped when we buttfuck a paycheck opponent the way we should. Happy Labor Day weekend to all of you.
  3. The 67% completion rate was more important than the total completions. But there's never been any question Weigman was extremely talented. It's just nice to finally see it on the field after the Calzada year and last year's misery.
  4. Surely you have learned that college football fans never, ever, EVER, learn. Then again, I guess you couldn't, because college football fans never, ever learn.
  5. You've never seen national championship winners that needed miracle finishes against the worst team in their conference?
  6. And Payton's full of shit, on that subject.
  7. They'll probably be a little more motivated against Bama in Tuscaloosa and that makes a fuckton of difference. Human nature is part of college football, and Rice doesn't inspire anyone's best effort.
  8. Holy fuck what a game. And Deion's kid is a legit D1 QB
  9. What was it, specifically, about the players' attitudes he had a problem with? When he was in Dallas, he'd decide he didn't like a practice/meeting time and he'd call Jerry, who would call Barry and tell him to change the time.
  10. The second half could seriously change the complexion of this game. But I thoroughly enjoyed watching TCU get pushed around in their own house by a team that won a single game last year.
  11. Stanford and Cal in the Atlantic Coast Conference. (And that's just one example, of course) Realignment has turned one of the greatest things on earth into an absurdity. Not breaking news, of course, but what a heartbreak for lifelong fans of the sport.
  12. Devil All the Time One of the best movies I've seen in a while.
  13. Well at least San Jose State is keeping this somewhat interesting. I expect USC will explode on them in the 2nd half, but it could be one of those games where a team hangs around long enough to gain some serious confidence and then it's anybody's game.
  14. Well that fucking sucks. It's hard as fuck to find really enjoyable series and then an interesting one gets shitcanned.
  15. I was finishing high school when Magic hit the mini-skyhook to win in Boston which sealed the series as they came back to LA, so there's my age. I saw all of the careers of Magic, Bird and their era, and Michael Jordan, followed by Kobe and Shaq, and then most of Lebron's before my interest in the NBA died. I'll not argue about who was the best. But the most amazing NBA basketball player I ever saw was, without question, Larry Bird. For a bunch of reasons.
  16. The fundamental question is, will I be as effective as a boss like my dad was? And I will be, even more so. But until I am, it's going to be hard to verify that I think I'll be more effective.
  17. You are at the precipice of an enormous crossroads.
  18. Interesting tidbit, regarding the goldmine there. Gold was struck in 1876, and that's when people started showing up to stake claims, and we had the inconvenient arrangements with the Lakota that we had to completely violate, etc. And it wasn't long before Hearst showed up and the Homestake Mine went to work for real. And here's what just blows my mind: The began taking gold out of the ground in 1876. The year the mine finally closed? 2002. One. Hundred. Twenty. Six. Years. they dug gold out of the ground there. It was a MASSIVE deposit. 40 million ounces, in fact.
  19. You must persist, padawan. Some of the greatest art that's happened on television is just down the road a ways, so don't give up. I've done several re-watches over the years, and to this day, every time I start something on HBO, then moment you get the static followed the voices that harmonize, every molecule of cell in my body is anticipating the bass riff at the start of Woke Up This Morning.
  20. Who's Captain Teebe's? A captain who owns luxury hotels or something. I don't know!!!!
