  1. Early on, yes. Opposing DC's have figured it and it hasn't worked the last two tries. I've watched a few of their games. Gabriel (OU) scored with a designed QB run in the redzone, Neal (KU) also got a TD off a wildcat play in the redzone. I'm talking about ISU's ability to stop the concept, not our ability to run the shit we do with Red. I still believe we would be better off spreading people out and running if the opportunity is there. The heavy shit isn't working.
  2. I've seen all of them in person. Not looking to derail the thread in this direction though, agree to disagree.
  3. Blue is like 5'9ish and sub 200 lb. They're being generous with his listing. He's got great burst, has really good hands, and runs really good routes. I would love to see them hunt matchups with him.
  4. Blue is much smaller than both those guys, it wouldn't shock me if he has issues in pass pro. He's like Keilan's size.
  5. To be fair, teams have had success in the red zone against them with the wildcat/designed QB runs
  6. Cooper got the majority of his (5) picks against bad competition. He's solid though. Tampa is alright, but he's probably the best in their secondary. Myles Purchase is very grabby, he has a hard time staying attached if he doesn't hold. Neither guy can handle Worthy, I doubt either guy can handle Mitchell either. We had Jaydon Blue running some route last week, let him get matched up on a linebacker.
  7. We just gotta keep Becht under pressure while mixing up coverages behind that. ISU goes slowly and they run more pro-style concepts. Our defense should be fine getting lined up against them, we'll see how they defend the quick game. On offense, I think throwing the ball is actually the key to victory here. They are not good at getting pressure at all, so make their secondary cover our NFL WRs for 3+ seconds and multiple guys should be able to get open. Running the ball should be used more as they drop back even further in coverage. Hopefully we don't try to run into their psuedo-light boxes all night.

    Texas RB Talk

If we spread them out and have Baxter or Blue as the back, they are both capable pass catchers. Baxter would be able to work against a lighter box as well. Not sure why Sark is so enamored with the heavier sets. Too many of our guys aren't consistently physical enough. Let the big guys wall off potential tacklers instead of trying to drive them back so much.
  9. I also got the sense that beating Kansas State is of greater importance to Iowa State fans than beating Texas is from my few months of living in central IA. It made what that lineman said even more curious because they're going to Manhattan next week to face a tough KSU team for Farmageddon.
  10. He's signed, Holland was signed, Johnson was signed. The latter two guys decided to go pro instead. Johnson will have the same opportunities, but you just have to show the value of coming to Texas over going to the G-League or other professional leagues.
  11. He should come back. He would: 1. Recover for free without the pressure of having to perform right away. 2. Get his degree. 3. Receive emotional support from guys on the team and staff. 4. Stay relatively close to home while being able to do all of that. 5. Hopefully perform well enough when he comes back to get drafted higher than he would if he leaves now. He'll have a veteran QB and better OL next year as well. Not a no-brainer, but it's definitely the safer play
  12. Great job by the entire athletic dept on this one, gotta survive the G League overtures though. Don't wanna have another Ron Holland situation.
  13. Let me guess, Aaron Hernandez was your favorite player?

He's a moron who won't even respond to his interpretation of the data he presented being proven wrong. Just put him on ignore and more on with your day.

It dont make a shit. He's still the same guy. Bah gawd, they changed their approach to the game now so theyre better than us! I bet Kansas State thought they were better than they showed when they lost to Missouri and Oklahoma State now that they started playing Avery Johnson too

Everyone looks bad if you want to see it that way. Teams suck if we beat them, teams are okay or good if they beat us! We made Milroe look below average, he's actually pretty good overall. Bean has beat some good teams this year, but i'll say he came into our game less prepared than he could have been Howard and his team came in hot and we kept them in check until we started throwing the game away Donovan Smith is a streaky guy that got hot and we still came out on top Don't be a pussy
  17. The more talent angle is questionable. Guys like Breece Hall, Brock Purdy, Charlie Kolar, Xavier Hutchinson, MJ Anderson, Will McDonald, and some others were solidly better than what Texas had. You guys also had the benefit of continuity in coaching and scheme. You guys are in a down cycle, if you won this year, it would be the best win of that stretch by far.
  18. Burke flying up field with reckless abandon was pretty much his biggest red flag from HS. He did it more often last year than he has this year, but he left a gaping hole on that play in particular due to it. Hill got caught in the wash, which actually happens pretty often, but on that play in particular he wasn't able to recover with his athleticism. He also needs much improvement with his zone drops, but that's expected.
  19. Are you agreeing with me? I fully agree with the belief that Quinn is inconsistent in deep ball throwing when compared to other high level college QBs and even average NFL starting QBs.
  20. The only pass you listed that would be considered a deep ball is the one over the top to worthy where he lost his balance instead of running in for a TD.
  21. Brooks wasn't ideal, he's just a better back right now. Baxter needs better vision and better feet. He's a little taller and thicker in the lower half than Brooks. If Baxter works on those two things, as well as setting up blocks and defenders, he's gonna blow up. He's got great hands, speed, and he's good at blitz pickup for his level of experience.
  22. Because we have BIG HUMANS! Nah, but Sark has always been a run first guy. I wouldn't mind seeing us do more 11 personnel stuff with Jaydon Blue as the back. He's a hard guy to match up with since you can motion him out and have him run routes on a safety or a linebacker. He's like a smaller, less physical version of Rueben Owens.

This should have fans much happier rather than hearing the "winning is hard" shit from the previous guy. He knows things aren't good enough long term.
