  1. Addazio went from being a HC to taking a job as an OL coach on a year to year basis? Woof.
  2. Maybe, but with a minus wingspan and below average mobility, that would be much less than desirable at Texas.
  3. Seeing Conner come in at LT for Banks during the K-State game should probably dispel any notions about Conner getting displaced barring a major leap in pass protection and general blocking awareness from Neto/Hutson. Conner may not be the most effective blocker, but he GENERALLY knows what is going on and who he should be blocking.
  4. Hopefully Quinn is healthy enough to take a hit without it being an issue. The more I look into this game, the more I think we can win it with MM at qb, barring a complete meltdown by him on the road. I'm sure plenty of the guys, including Quinn, want revenge for how this game went down last year. On top of that, this is another chance for plenty of the major players on the team to show out in the same area where they went to high school.
  5. Aranda would be a solid consolation prize, if he’s even fired/looking to be a DC right away
  6. That defense no longer has guys like Thorpe award winner, T. Hodges Tomlinson, Dee Winters, and Dylan Horton. The latter of which completely dominated Cole Hutson and wrecked our offense's ability to get much of anything going. We also had a few uncharacteristic drops along the way. Their OL is also missing guys like Steve Avila and Alan Ali. Obviously, they are without Duggan, Johnston, Miller, Demercado, and Barber. Another thing I don't hear much about is that they are another year removed from the influence of Gary Patterson. This isn't the same team we saw in Austin last year.
  7. Joseph is the passing game coordinator, so just moving Gideon probably doesn't get the job done. I have a hard time seeing Joseph get removed during this offseason. It makes no sense to recruit press/bump and run corners and play them off. Brooks literally made his name dominating Evan Stewart in some 1v1 reps at a camp while playing press. Now we have him playing in space against lesser athletes, make it make sense.
  8. His reduced mobility frees up our linebackers to play coverage and makes it less risky to blitz They have a few receivers who will give us fits if he has the chance to find them.
  9. Back to more relevant shit, Josh Hoover will start for TCU this weekend unless Sonny fuckery is afoot. Morris is a worse passer, but The QB run is something that would concern me if he played. The pass rush is a bigger factor with the reduced mobility of Hoover too.
  10. Healthy isn't the word I would use, but he's finally good enough to be able to play his style of ball and we're about to face a bunch of less than stellar tackles for him to feast upon.
  11. I'm convinced he was hurt against Kansas and OU. He's looked more decisive and showed better closing speed the last few games. We'll see another veer and shoot offense this weekend, it will be interesting to see if he's learned from the issues he had against OU.
  12. This is the stretch run, everything out there to play for. I could see him rushing his timeline to get out there and help in whatever way he can. If Quinn plays, but he can’t play through the discomfort, then bring MM in and run the ball until they give you the deep shot.
  13. Slovis got banged up in his game against us, their backup is even less of a threat
  14. Even mid 30s Ben was much more athletic than MM is now *He should still be jogging for positive yards instead of throwing prayers into triple coverage*
  15. This is just Jimbo’s fetish. Having someone publicly committed to him messing around with others
  16. A poster referenced it earlier, but MM looked spry on a run during the spring game. I went and rewatched that run and he could move a little bit I think it’s just a lack of awareness on his part to not take those easy yards when presented the opportunity. It could also be that he’s terrified of contact. Jogging/running is definitely easier on the back and ankles than throwing a football.
  17. I bet he wishes he had 333 yards passing and 5 TDs though. Such a shame.
  18. Man…he beat an otherwise undefeated Alabama team in Tuscaloosa by 10 and it could have been worse. Same Alabama team that just smoked the LSU team they lost to last year despite losing 3 first round draft picks and 8 guys in the top 3 rounds in total. Not to mention two of those guys went in the top 3 picks overall. Makes no sense to try and diminish that massive accomplishment by this team, especially as a fan.
  19. There isn’t even a lineman past the LOS in that still, MM is just really far behind his OL
  20. MM winning the QB battle next year would be a massive upset. Even without any bias from the coaches/program implications MM struggling like he is now makes it more likely his value on the transfer market goes down, which makes it more likely he stays an extra year to backup Arch. That’s the best case scenario for Texas.
  21. Quinn had 11 sacks in 10 games last year. He's had 17 sacks in 7 games this year. It might be worse as far as hits if I dig deeper than ESPN
  22. That's recruiting more than development. MM is playing 2 years too early, he's had a QB coach for at least 9 years and still has throwing mechanics like he's only been playing backyard 7 on 7 his entire life. He also has injury issues that have slowed his development. Unfortunately, our failure to protect Quinn forced him into action before he was ready. My biggest issues are with his decision making. I know he's hurt but he's gotta know his limitations, learn from his worst mistakes, and keep things simple until Quinn gets back. His improvisation helped us win the game though. That 4th down throw to JT in the 4th quarter was probably not where the pass was supposed to go (look at Whittington), but he directed JT open and made the throw.
  23. I'd guess a mixture of poor confidence and poor mechanics He doesn't have the same off platform throwing ability as Quinn and even he gets in trouble when he doesn't get his feet right.
  24. I imagine the coaches have kept in touch with Braylan Shelby and have made it known that we’d love for him to be a Longhorn. He’s young for his grade too, so lots of development left in that massive frame.
  25. If MM could run at all, his boneheaded decisions would be more palatable Whoever compared him to Joe Milton was spot on, except Milton isn’t terrified of being hit. Milton has more functional athleticism too
