  1. If Murphy shows better pocket presence, he’ll have a chance to look better than Quinn until teams adjust to Murphys tendencies.
  2. Talent is certainly part of the issue, but poor communication is directly on the coaches. Are Joseph’s recruiting connections worth his coaching deficiencies? The front and the back are showing more signs of disconnect as the season progresses. Injuries aren’t helping, but shortening the rotations on the back end might help bring serviceable play through reps as a unit.
  3. I'm with you pal, I wish Sark would just call the touchdown play so I can sing Texas Fight with my all of my friends.
  4. I'd guess it was around 90% once the game really got going, and there were far more UH fans than expected
  5. Taysom Hill is a 4.4 guy, Kedon Slovis is like a 4.9 guy who doesn't really look to run much.
  6. We are stopping the run. That was a huge issue before, now it isn't. Our guys aren't winning one on one when Sweat commands a double team. Blitzers aren't getting home or getting the ball carriers down to the ground often enough. Safeties are unable to guard receivers for even a little before turning them loose. They play the safeties way off because they can't turn and run at all. Even our former athletic corner-turned-safety, can't guard a slot fade. That was a pretty good throw though. They went after a few coverage safeties in the portal, but after Ja'Had Carter chose to sit on the bench at Ohio State, we ended up with an oft injured box safety.
  7. Quinn's pocket presence did him no favors, but checking the ball down is better than taking a sack. Maybe MM will be better at identifying the blitz and signaling a hot route. But realistically, his biggest concern will be the poor accuracy on his rockets. Quinn throws soft balls with pace, MM throws passes like ATL Vick did.
  8. I'd like to see how MM handles the 3 deep look. He seems to love showing off his arm, so will he be aware enough to take the shorter, high percentage throw over the highlight, lower percentage deeper routes? Can he throw catchable balls to the running backs and tight ends? Will his mechanics break down under pressure? What kind of pocket presence does he have? He's never been the most accurate guy, and I think that's part of why his rating fell so much as a recruit. Will improved mechanics improve that enough for us to take advantage? We really need to establish the run in this game, because KState is gonna have a field day if we don't.
  9. Guilbeau's poor play likely necessitated Barron's early return in the second half of the game. It's hard to see what went wrong in real time and it was hot as hell yesterday. His lack of communication and out of control nickel blitz led to the second TD.
  10. You serious Clark? How many defenses out there work without a pass rush? Our safeties are generally liabilities in pass coverage. They also aren't passing off routes well. No corner is gonna cover well consistently for 3+ seconds. We're tackling decently enough on the back end. If they saw the athleticism back there this offseason and didn't bother getting guys like Guilbeau, Jordan, Roberson crosstrained at the position, then that's a huge fucking problem. Maybe Gideon sees himself in Michael Taaffe, but Taaffe should be on the sidelines helping the more athletic guys make the right calls. Improving the QB pressure game will help the secondary, but there's a lot of meat left on the bone in the secondary too.
  11. I get you. I'm also not really emotionally invested in anything sports related other than Texas football.
  12. All of this. The OL, once again, failed to take advantage of a front they should have. Quinn has taken shots all year as a result. They had three safeties around 10-12 yards at the snap for much of the game and it was a dink and dunk fest as a result. At times, he had some receivers open downfield, but opted to take the safe plays every time. Against a better team, it is probably an issue, but we should have been running it on these guys with ease.
  13. The best way to look at this is now there is more available for high level portal finds. Including WRs.
  14. They’ll need to protect Robertson against Nwankwo or that could end up being an issue. He could choke out a drive or two.
  15. Yea, I'm pretty sure they didn't even try to play him because of the effectiveness of our gameplan.
  16. The main way this season can get derailed is if Quinn gets hurt, so having Conner’s above average pass blocking is a major benefit.
  17. All that means is that Robertson is starting again
  18. I’d be more worried about this game if they didn’t come back and beat WVU. Holgo wanted the WVU game more than he does this one. If the team comes out and assets itself on the LOS like they’re probably emphasizing during this bye week, then this isn’t competitive after the first half. If we get down early and give them confidence like what happened against Wyoming, then anything is possible.
  19. I think we should have Quinn and Red in the same formation, spreading them out, then we can shift into Red getting the snap with two guys behind him that aren't Quinn. If they come out heavy, we can do RPOs or 11/12 personnel stuff. If they come out light, Shift Helm/Agbo and another guy back there to push Red into the endzone.
  20. Colorado was 1-11 last year with their only win being against a 4-win Cal team that they were 15-pt home dogs against. Put it into context. TCU is definitely a signature win. If he gets to 5-7, it's still a hell of a coaching job. But 4-8 is almost certain at this point. More roster churn incoming.
  21. Johntay was polished, productive, and a 5-star guy. He’s not getting a bunch of burn this year. Wingo would be nice, but we’ll be fine with a portal guy. Get Dekorien Moore and another big body guy like Wingo next year.
  22. Sark was at Alabama the same time he was, he probably also has some context for his story. Maybe they’re just giving his recruitment a boost. He’s as flaky as it gets, but a very talented player if he can manage being further away from home.
  23. OUs OL and DL played with the most intensity and consistency they’ve shown all year this past weekend. Can they maintain that going forward? They lost Andrel Anthony for the season, and plenty of other guys are pretty banged up. They get an extra week to prepare for Kansas, but they’re going to BYU late. Everyone will be looking to play spoiler. I’d be shocked if they made it to the CCG undefeated, but I’d love for our guys to be the first to knock them off this year.
  24. Quinn’s gone, nuff said. Murphy likely sticks around to battle it out, unless Arch is already clearly superior in practice by the postseason. Maybe he can be convinced though. I could see Wright being gone, but he’s a good locker room guy so who knows. Maybe after he graduates. Brooks should probably go, and Sark may tell him as much. Would love to have him back. We’ll probably lose some OL. Was hoping we would see more Neto this year, hopefully he’ll stick it out another year. Aaron Bryant probably joins the DT rotation next year, I could see Swanson head back to Arizona. Other than that, lots of rotation here probably encourages more to stick around. Allen, Brice, and LTG could all leave and I wouldn’t be surprised. Maybe Crawford as a GT, maybe Guilbeau if he’s impatient after not playing much this year.
