  1. Quinn’s gone, nuff said. Murphy likely sticks around to battle it out, unless Arch is already clearly superior in practice by the postseason. Maybe he can be convinced though. I could see Wright being gone, but he’s a good locker room guy so who knows. Maybe after he graduates. Brooks should probably go, and Sark may tell him as much. Would love to have him back. We’ll probably lose some OL. Was hoping we would see more Neto this year, hopefully he’ll stick it out another year. Aaron Bryant probably joins the DT rotation next year, I could see Swanson head back to Arizona. Other than that, lots of rotation here probably encourages more to stick around. Allen, Brice, and LTG could all leave and I wouldn’t be surprised. Maybe Crawford as a GT, maybe Guilbeau if he’s impatient after not playing much this year.
  2. Correct. We took him from Baylor. Shemar Turner was the far more heralded guy, but Murphy was as if not more dominant in HS. Murphy’s big issue was size.
  3. Not benched, just getting someone with more mobility worked in more situationally. I’m just spitballing names. Ford has looked a step slow and taken poor angles to the ball for much of the season. I imagine a guy like TyAnthony Smith would provide more athleticism there too.
  4. I agree that Hill should be taking more snaps from Gbenda than he already is. The Ford issue will only get worse as we play more pass heavy teams. Maybe Blackwell will see more of those snaps, even though he hasn’t played well so far either. He presents more athletic upside and physicality, despite not having the bulk that Ford possesses. I imagine we’ll grab an inside backer from the portal this off-season.
  5. The offense was more to blame, but the defense had a chance to win the game after Sark decided to put it in their hands at the end. Offense only put up 23 points on a day they put up 500+ yards. That’s not gonna get it done against any good offense.
  6. Dude was laser focused on the QB that he didn’t notice the 6-4 guy running right across his face. He and Hill have both had their issues this season though. Went back and watched a bit of some previous games, and Jaylan Ford has actually always been relatively unathletic. His general confusion just made him tentative on top of it. Hopefully Lefau or Burrell provide greater athletic upside there.
  7. Derek Williams is not showing in this still, but he’s playing deeper behind Barron and Muhammad.
  8. He was definitely late, and that helped the LBs get back into the play. But JT had both hands on that ball. I expect my star guy to make that play. I’m sure he expects better from himself too. I’m thankful he gave us what he had on Saturday, I just wish he made that play.
  9. That shouldn’t keep him from taking better angles and steps to the ball. He made below average Marcus Major look like a young Lesean McCoy out there.
  10. Both he and Jaylan Ford played like shit. Ford looked confused and unathletic. Gbenda reminded everyone why he wasn’t getting PT. Missing gap after gap, even on plays where the DL did well.
  11. You consider that an actual jump with extension? His foot is pretty much on the ground as soon as both hands touch the ball. Did you see those arms in the passing window? You could argue JT was trying to protect himself, but you expect your star NFL tight end to make those plays.
  12. Gabriel missed some throws, but some of that was due to pressure. Another reason why I’m shocked we didn’t pressure him more up the middle
  13. The point is that Sanders wasn’t catching that even if he doesn’t get hit.
  14. Would our loss not be seen as a stumble too? Isn’t it better to stumble early in the season in a rivalry game? Especially where the losing team doesn’t look completely outclassed? I think Kansas state will give us issues because of the running qb, good OL, and we need to show that we can put together three good games in a row.
  15. I’m also not sure we get forgiven for stumbling against anyone else on our schedule except for OU. The effort they put out there on Saturday likely beats everyone else they’ll face in the regular season. OU came ready and did just enough to win, the response to this loss will tell me all I need to know about Sark.
  16. There’s the reasonable take we were all waiting for. I guess more people thought we were going undefeated than I imagined. In reality, this was the only loss that would have been acceptable once we beat Bama in fucking Tuscaloosa. 10-2 or 11-1 are still pretty likely, barring injury. I’ll buy pitchforks in bulk from Costco if we lose to UH.
  17. Sanders is the first read, it’s an easier throw, and he’s open. Its a rhythm offense. Quinn is a little late on it and the linebackers recovered from the play fake enough to get into the passing window.
  18. A&M’s DL better come ready to play for that game to be close. If Milton shows up at all, Tenn wins. Same offense our guys just went up against, but with slightly better skill players.
  19. I’m pretty sure they expected to win the LOS and create havoc that way. Playing aggressive with that expected advantage exposes your defense more than necessary. We also had poor tackling, so thinning the secondary even more than their scheme does would have led to pretty horrible results if DG got the ball out in time.
  20. Because if the coverage team is there, then you’re starting at the 1 yard line instead of having some breathing room.
  21. Williams clearly bumps the coverage when that guy goes in motion. The other guys apparently didn’t get the message. It’s either on Thompson or Gbenda. I’m guessing Gbenda. I would have liked a TO at some point on that drive too. Our guys were flailing out there
  22. On rewatch, QE was a little late, but it was a tight window due to the linebackers getting into the passing window and that part of the field being more constricted. Tough catch, but JT's gotta help his QB there.
  23. At the time, they were actually playing well enough to get him off the field. They were stuck at 27 after the first drive of the second half. In total, the defense didn’t do well against him at all.
  24. I believe he should have gone for it. I can also see why he went for the FG.
