Not while I’m in Italy please. I love it here.  Lots of good discussion tonight about the turnout for Dear Leaders parade.

The site behavior is weird. I quoted jimmyjazz, and your quote attributed to me what jimmyjazz said.

This can’t be stressed enough. I have a list of people (neighbors, friends) that I know are like minded politically, but aren’t as engaged as I am and might not even know there’s an election going on because there are a ton of elections. I text these folks to remind them about the election and send them the voter guide that I put together. I’ve had exceptional feedback from doing this. In one particular low turnout election, the state senator in my district was elected by a differential of 50ish votes. After the election I was talking to a buddy, who also happens to be the precinct chair where I live, and we were able to account for the entire differential from our personal texting efforts based on the feedback that we each received. Whenever I get down about national and statewide elections, I think back to this example of how we can still impact outcomes in our own communities.

During the pandemic, I went to my state representative’s office to request a meeting to discuss concerns. I was dressed professional out of respect. There was one person in the office; I expect he was probably an intern. I respectfully requested the meeting. He said he would pass along the request.

I did hear back, and the rep actually did help me out.

The intern had a look of terror in his eyes as I spoke with him. Again, I was as non- threatening as I could possibly be: polite, clear in my request, pleasant.

To the point, I think a presence at your local rep’s office would get their attention. Nothing insulting. Nothing about a specific policy point. At this point, it should be a bipartisan effort to fight tyranny. This point is not debatable.

It would not bother me one bit if the rest of the world -- all of it -- instituted a travel ban against United States citizens.

That would get the attention of business. Holy shit.

    I’d replace “tyranny” with “tyrant.”

I get what you’re saying. I considered it. But, the act of tyranny is not isolated to a single person right now. Noem is the face of tyranny. Using “tyrant” implies trump, and only trump, is the tyrant. That is not the case.

Yea we had this conversation earlier with family. I really don’t have a good answer and this shit is literally happening down the street from me. Any ideas or tips lawdogs? I don’t even know if military ID would matter anymore

Off topic but based on your posts, you’re in the whitttier area?

I did a work project there several years ago and really liked the area. Nice downtown area. Nicely updated craftsmanship homes. I drove up through turnbull canyon to check it out.

I won’t have a sign, but am wearing this shirt. As many know, this is the most important thing to me and something that is going under the radar, as the Senate just more than quintupled the amount of land to be sold off than the House initially wanted.

Does the shirt communicate what trump is doing? It does not.

A sign with something like this conveys the message.

    Public land

    is not

    for sale

The issue with this is that there are things you’re for and things you’re against in the same string of messages. It takes a second glance for the brain to register what you’re for and against.

This isn’t clear for someone driving past.

I "watched" two of my former high school classmates discussing the LA riots on FB yesterday. They went down some weirdo loser holocaust denier/blood and soil rabbit hole and one of them said "We were on the wrong side in WWII", and the other guy agreed with him. Both of these guys were in my advanced US history class, so they aren't morons. I told them both that was big talk coming from two fucking losers that still lived in their parent's house (one does) and had 5 DWIs between them. Then I blocked and unfollowed them on all platforms. Fucking insanity. The Lamar University library had (probably still has) the entirety of the Nuremburg Trials on film reels. One of these guys and I spent probably 8 hours across multiple days watching all the reels , and then did a group project on it. Now he's a holocaust denier and a part time "pastor" at some strip mall fringe Christian church.

Who gives a shit about the actual footage of the nuremburg trials when there’s a youtube of a goatee’d guy in a truck.

The EAS program is one of those DEI programs that rural Republicans don't realize is a DEI program.  It's a Democratic program.  It's always been supported by Democrats.  The only people who oppose the EAS program are Republicans.

The EAS program comes from the Airline Deregulation Act of 1978.  Rural Democrats objected to airline deregulation on the basis that it was inequitable to their constituents.  While people in Dallas and Houston might get the benefit of lower fares resulting from airline competition, their constituents in Beaumont and Tyler would be left without air service altogether.  To assuage that concern, Congress created the EAS program.

The Biden Administration increased funding to the EAS program by $1.7B.  The argument was the same: we want to be fair and equitable to rural communities and include them in American prosperity.  It's a complete DEI program.

But equity and inclusion are now passe.  Fuck-youism is now the order of the day.  So sorry, Cordova and Beaumont and Tyler and Enid--you're going to lose your air service.  And if that is inequitable and excludes you from being able to participate as effectively in the American economy . . . well, that's exactly what you voted for.

Good. Fuck those stupid motherfuckers back to the stone age.

  11. I was at that show too. I thought the weather was perfect. A nice light breeze occasionally.

I really enjoyed the show. They have a pretty extensive catalog and played all the standards, a few new songs, and a deep cut or two.

The video board was entertaining. The akron ‘88 cable access theme was pretty good tongue-in-cheek humor.

Well worth the drive down from dallas.
