  1. There’s a reason for that. It’s rooted in a much larger sample size than the 8(!) games Gurriel has played so far.
  2. I’d rather not have the worst qualified 1B in the league, like say Gurriel in 2022.
  3. There really aren’t any available CFs who would be an upgrade over McCormick, so I doubt it. The biggest hole on the off-season after 1B was a LF/DH type, which was addressed with Brantley-all joking aside about his availability, there were better options available and money to spend.
  4. Better than Brantley’s, whoever they are.
  5. The reason to have 3 catchers was so Diaz could play DH/LF/1B in addition to backup catcher, and you could then pinch hit for Maldonado without losing the DH (or shuffling everyone around). But 1) Diaz is barely even playing catcher, let alone anywhere else and 2) if you don’t pinch hit for Maldonado last night, you never will. There’s zero reason for a third catcher at this point.
  6. I wouldn’t be shocked if Dusty poked Chas in the eye to cause his vision problems.
  7. Yeah, I believe all the buzz this time a year ago was how the Angels had finally put it together and were going to bury the Astros. They went on to take the division race down to the wire, finishing a mere 33 games back.
  8. That was Hensley. Maldonado was in the dugout after flailing away in his at bat.
  9. Doing what’s utterly predictable for one of the worst hitters in baseball history. He shouldn’t have even been up there.
  10. That’s not a need.
  11. The Orioles had a 10 game winning streak last season in the middle of an 83 win season. Of course they can - baseball is weird.
  12. I didn’t know anyone actually went to high school reunions.
  13. Irrelevant. Dusty plans for him to languish on the bench.
  14. It will have to, there might only be 5 guys left on the team at this rate.
  15. I don’t really care about debating that. It was just a stupid use of the word.
  16. Because nothing says “woke” like taking a stance against felony arrests.
  17. He's 0-3 so far today, so now it wasn't a mistake, current circumstances say. That's how this works, right?
  18. Social clubs don’t generally pay taxes either.
  19. Yeah, that's a great case for why he should be in the organization in an off the field role, not catching 100+ games.
  20. To be fair, Dubon has actually been hitting really well lately. I'd say continue to play him while he's hot (especially because he's going to play even if he's not, unfortunately).
  21. So far, they’ve gone from Opening Day to a couple of weeks later to by the end of April to now early May. If all goes well, Altuve could be back before the end of May. I wouldn’t be surprised if Brantley is still out at this point.
  22. Of course. He’s never been up before. Meyers has options too, and I don’t think there’s any way the DFA him given they don’t need room on the 40 for Brantley.
  23. Objectively, he nailed it down way before this season. So I’m not holding my breath on him suddenly being a fixture in the lineup based on previous playing time trends. I’d love to be wrong.
  24. While true, Tucker, Alvarez, Javier weren’t waking through the door either in any meaningful sense when Cole and Springer were here. And Abreu obviously wasn’t.
  25. That’s not a problem with religion, it’s a problem with humanity.
