  1. Yeah the franchise that named Jeff Saturday interim coach is clearly a brain trust.
  2. Georgia Southern was not a “shit program” and he didn’t turn them around. He just happened to be there when they moved up to FBS and that’s it. Jeff Monken had them in the FCS semis 3/4 seasons prior, and they won 6 national championships (and played for several others) from 1985 till they moved up.
  3. I thought everyone knew Herman was a giant douche from day 1.
  4. Most of the prior mentions I recall of Cain on this board are that he should never play another snap, should transfer, etc. after the ISU game.
  5. This is the Worthy thread, right?
  6. There’s never going to be an 8 team playoff. Doesn’t seem like there’s much to discuss.
  7. If they were willing to bring in Calipari, they’d just keep Beard.
  8. Seemed to me like that was his point.
  9. Yeah this reeks of intentionally avoiding an addition who might supplant Maldonado. If that’s the case, don’t even bother.
  10. They definitely didn’t overpay Abreu. That deal looks even better after the silly season of the last couple of weeks.
  11. That has to be it, because that’s a very reasonable deal for Narvaez.
  12. Now that’s a deal the Astros definitely should have done.
  13. McCormick is perfectly fine in CF.
  14. Weird comparisons. Do Hoes and Straw even have double digit career homers combined? I don’t know if Meyers will make it or not, but he has some pop. What if I told you Chas had a higher career wRC+ than Benintendi right now? He keeps being underrated-he HAS shown he’s an MLB player, an above average one.
  15. I think Rojas has been the only one to really do anything out of the Greinke deal.
  16. You haven't been following this thread, I see. That's in the rearview mirror.
  17. Dave Winfield. That’s basically the list. And he was obviously a much better athlete than Judge.
  18. Omar Narvaez might be worth bringing in.
  19. 3/30 is an overpay according to fangraphs projections both in AAV and years (2/16). Of course, the free agent market has gone insane in just the few weeks since that was published. But it seems to me that the Astros are not going to budge from what they think a player should be worth and are content to let others overpay. It’s the sort of thinking that has built the organization, and it’s proved to be wise in the past for competing over a long period of time. The potential danger right now is if EVERYONE is behaving irrationally to the point there are no players left, do you have to play the same game to compete? But they’re in a strong enough position as is they can afford to sit back and wait and see what happens and adjust if needed (or not when/if the competition is saddled with aging, expensive players in a few years).
