  1. You sure about that part? I assumed he had to dive everywhere he went.
  2. “I admittedly don’t have any idea what I’m talking about, but here’s my opinion anyway.”
  3. Lawrence was a pretty good runner, he just wasn't asked to do it too often - though he did carry the ball over 100 times as a sophomore. Career 231-943-4.1 ypc and 18 TDs
  4. Speaking of short memories, I imagine it has more to do with watching Ewers “slice up” two bad defenses in OSU and TCU. I’d have gladly taken one of Card’s supposedly below average performances in those games, because we’d have won.
  5. If this year is any indication, the primary reaction will be denial.
  6. I was responding to his career pre-Astros, but yeah-I phrased that poorly. But it’s worth checking out the defensive metrics there for 2019. It only makes the point stronger.
  7. That means he hasn't done it since 2015. That will be 8 years ago, and that's a pretty big 8 years between 31 and 39 in terms of athletic ability. The defensive metrics suggest he no longer has the range to play first base, let alone anything more demanding.
  8. It’s common to have utility guys who can’t hit, but when they can’t field multiple positions either…
  9. As crazy as it seems, I think you can already add Rutschman to that list. But your point stands.
  10. Yeah, if you pass on Nimmo, the younger cheaper guy is the one already on the team. And then you get a LF instead. Which is fine - it's certainly a lot easier to find a LF than a CF. I think there's a clear misunderstanding of how many good CF there even are, let alone available (and that objectively, Chas is actually a pretty good one relative to his peers, there just aren't that many).
  11. And that Lee's deal was for 6 years vs. 3. And that this deal is for only $3 mill/yr more 16 years later.
  12. I think the gameplan there is a chicken and egg thing. That’s the main difference I’d say. (And I’m not upset about it, I wish we’d commit to running more like that given our personnel/struggles. But it doesn’t seem to be Sark’s nature-which is why I personally find it telling, especially in light of the end of yesterday’s game.)
  13. I just don’t completely agree with your reading of that evidence (or your take on the Kansas game in particular). I do agree about his talent. I’m not writing him off.
  14. I did not mean to include ISU in that. You’re correct. His poor stretch started after that game, not OU. He was not terrible against KSU, but I wouldn’t call that a good performance either.
  15. Hence “solid.” Theres no room for nuance in this unfortunately (welcome to the internet!). He either is already a bust or you have to defend him tooth and nail as just having routine freshman struggles.
  16. I’d argue that the stretch between OU and yesterday was consistently bad-the KSU and KU games just look better by comparison to the other 2, but his completion percentage and ypa were both very poor. A far cry from how he looked early in the year. And that probably colors how his game yesterday was seen, which other than a couple of big mistakes, was actually solid.
  17. I didn’t say they knew anything. That’s kind of the point. And it wasn’t just there, it was on shaggy. Which, again, consider the source. But still-it was absolutely a thing.
  18. Yeah, I’m not talking about the meme. I’m taking about actual discussion. I remember being at games that years and hearing people yell to put Chiles in.
  19. There was a vocal contingent who wanted to replace him with true freshman John Chiles.
  20. Did he? His completion percentage, ypa, and ypg are higher. But he threw more picks, the same number of TDs (in more games) and has a lower QBR. They were both pretty mediocre.
  21. Im not suggesting Card should start, but you’re conflating last season with this season. Ewers has absolutely been worse over the second half of the season than what Card showed in his 3 starts. Just look at the numbers.
  22. As bad as Ewers has been, Gilbert threw 3 times as many interceptions:l. I envy your ability to block that out.
