  1. It’s never been that way in the illustrious 9 year history of the playoff…great point.
  2. I also think Garcia is generally underrated. But I think it’s Urquidy, not Brown, that fans tend to overrate.
  3. Fwiw, baseball trade values accepts the deal. It’s almost exactly equal in value by their calculation.
  4. He contributed more than Gurriel. Diaz put up .6 fWAR, 1.0 bWAR in only about 90 games. Gurriel was negative in both. I guess you can argue he won’t be as big a negative if he’s only playing part time, but that’s offset by trying to play him at positions he’s incapable of defending (Diaz is average or better everywhere but SS). Even if you don’t want to sign anyone else, it’s a worse idea than seeing what a prospect can do or even just bringing Diaz back. It’s irrational.
  5. I don’t care about the money, because I don’t think that’s enough to keep them from adding anyone else they want (especially if Crane is serious about going over the tax threshold if needed-I assume his deal is only 1 year). The bigger problem is it’s a horrible use of a roster spot.
  6. Did you miss the one 2 weeks ago?
  7. The unwritten rules are confusing when it comes to what sort of cheating is allowed.
  8. You sure about that part? I assumed he had to dive everywhere he went.
  9. “I admittedly don’t have any idea what I’m talking about, but here’s my opinion anyway.”
  10. Lawrence was a pretty good runner, he just wasn't asked to do it too often - though he did carry the ball over 100 times as a sophomore. Career 231-943-4.1 ypc and 18 TDs
  11. Speaking of short memories, I imagine it has more to do with watching Ewers “slice up” two bad defenses in OSU and TCU. I’d have gladly taken one of Card’s supposedly below average performances in those games, because we’d have won.
  12. If this year is any indication, the primary reaction will be denial.
  13. No. He’s under contract.
  14. I was responding to his career pre-Astros, but yeah-I phrased that poorly. But it’s worth checking out the defensive metrics there for 2019. It only makes the point stronger.
  15. That means he hasn't done it since 2015. That will be 8 years ago, and that's a pretty big 8 years between 31 and 39 in terms of athletic ability. The defensive metrics suggest he no longer has the range to play first base, let alone anything more demanding.
  16. It’s common to have utility guys who can’t hit, but when they can’t field multiple positions either…
  17. As crazy as it seems, I think you can already add Rutschman to that list. But your point stands.
  18. Yeah, if you pass on Nimmo, the younger cheaper guy is the one already on the team. And then you get a LF instead. Which is fine - it's certainly a lot easier to find a LF than a CF. I think there's a clear misunderstanding of how many good CF there even are, let alone available (and that objectively, Chas is actually a pretty good one relative to his peers, there just aren't that many).
  19. And that Lee's deal was for 6 years vs. 3. And that this deal is for only $3 mill/yr more 16 years later.
  20. I think those days are over for him.
  21. I think the gameplan there is a chicken and egg thing. That’s the main difference I’d say. (And I’m not upset about it, I wish we’d commit to running more like that given our personnel/struggles. But it doesn’t seem to be Sark’s nature-which is why I personally find it telling, especially in light of the end of yesterday’s game.)
