  1. Joe Mauer is the 7th ranked catcher in JAWS. He’s 9th all time in WAR. He absolutely should be in. Kendall isn’t even in the top 20 in either, for the record.
  2. RP is a separate position in the same way a PH is. Which is to say not at all.
  3. Vizquel would be the worst SS in the Hall by JAWS. He doesn’t belong. He’s not even the most deserving SS on the current ballot-that’s Jimmy Rollins, and he’s probably not ever getting in.
  4. None of that has anything to do with whether or not Jankowski is better, though. He's not.
  5. Lower career wRC+, inferior defender, they both have between 3-4 career WAR on both baseball reference and fangraphs-except Meyers has done that in 3 seasons vs being up since 2015.
  6. Peña’s basically a league average hitter who is a plus defender. That’s fine as the worst spot in the lineup-it’s not even really a hole. (And he was still better than Dubon by wRC+. It’s amazing how narratives warp our expectations). Meyers is fine as a 4th OF. As long as he’s actually the 4th OF.
  7. Yeah it’s more the juiced baseball than anything for him, I think.
  8. Altuve is going to be resigned and Bregman (and later Tucker) are going to hit the market. Just prepare yourselves for it.
  9. Now being reported he is seeking 2 yr 22 mil range Also known as a million less than Montero will be paid over the next 2 seasons.
  10. No. Somebody just added up how much his total salary was and everyone else ran with it.
  11. I think Dubon hate is transference of Dusty hate for his misuse. He’s an asset as a utility player. But he should stay that instead of taking starts away in the OF. Hopefully that won’t be an issue anymore.
  12. I immediately thought of this classic from The Onion: https://www.theonion.com/i-think-im-going-about-this-cat-breeding-thing-all-wron-1819583446 But at least old Stan actually loved the cats.
  13. Oh yeah, I love content.
  14. You forget about Bregman's salsa money.
  15. This right here: https://www.andar.com/collections/the-wallets/products/the-apollo?variant=32590980238
  16. Well he’s still going to count about $46 million a year against it, which is a massive amount, the most ever. And this deal requires pretty much the perfect storm of a guy who makes enough in endorsements and wants to win badly enough that he’s willing to defer almost his entire salary to get it down even to that number. But it’s definitely pushing the limits of it, yeah. I would expect this sort of contract to be addressed in the next CBA. Maybe put a limit on the percentage of total salary you can defer? I don’t know.
  17. I do enjoy life. And sports. I just happen to think that this contract won’t be worth it *on the field.* Sorry that simple difference of opinion somehow triggered you and resulted in bizarre armchair psychoanalysis.
  18. You might consider the irony of acting as a gatekeeper for how people should properly follow a sport while simultaneously deriding others as killjoys.
  19. As soon as you remind me what revenue has to do with his production. There are two different discussions going on here.
  20. Depending on whether or not he pitches again, I wouldn’t bet on him accumulating 50 WAR over the course of the deal anyway.
  21. It will be the greatest lineup to ever go out in the first round of the playoffs.
