  1. Which is why it wasn’t an argument against the book.
  2. That may not be what the book says, but it is what the authors said in an interview.
  3. I get encouraging people to make healthier food choices, but lamenting ice cream being sweet kind of loses the thread for me.
  4. Did it? As a wise man responded early on, “I have no idea what we’re supposed to discuss.”
  5. I was thinking his positive reinforcement might be what’s keeping them fat.
  6. I haven’t read the book yet either, but there was some brief discussion of it on another thread recently. Revising the mythical version of the Alamo (and the “Texas Revolution” more generally) so that there’s an understanding that slavery was one of the causes is good; the authors seemed, however, based on an interview with them, to go too far to make their idealogical point, arguing (paraphrasing) that Santa Anna was a good guy who just wanted liberal democracy to flourish if not for these white dudes in Texas (ignoring that multiple other Mexican states were in rebellion against his tyranny). At any rate, there should be free and open discussion of scholarly ideas without politicians getting involved.
  7. I’d pretty much agree with that too.
  8. I don’t see why it’s more worthless than blanket statements like “we have a 6-3 court.” Both seem pretty simplistic.
  9. There were half a dozen different 6-3 alignments this term.
  10. I expected nothing less of your keen insight.
  11. I’ll try to remember to leave my next of kin instructions to answer that to your satisfaction in the event of my death.
  12. Who’d have thought that posting photos of vaccination cards to satisfy random message board posters wouldn’t be a priority?
  13. I know who you are talking about-not personally, but we have some mutual friends-and I don’t see any reason to doubt it. He was posting on Facebook throughout his hospital stay and it came up in comments a few times that he had been vaccinated. And if you look back far enough, he posts about looking for the JJ vaccine specifically because he wanted one shot.
  14. There’s an Aaron Burr bust in the Senate that would like a word.
  15. Looks like most of them got it in late April. ”The No. 3 Longhorns (34-9) stranded too many runners, thanks in part to bad luck, and were far from flawless. However, they were pressed to figure out a way to win a midweek game late, and despite not playing their best baseball, they were again able to generate the needed result. A couple of emerging bullpen pieces fired a bunch of zeros to allow Texas to find enough offense late to beat Incarnate Word, 5-3. Plus, if the Longhorns looked a tad fatigued mentally and physically, there are some good reasons why. In addition to a doubleheader Saturday, game Sunday and seven-hour bus ride back from Stillwater, Oklahoma, David Pierce revealed tonight almost all the Longhorns received their second COVID-19 vaccination shot yesterday.” https://texas.rivals.com/news/after-covid-vaccine-shot-no-2-monday-no-3-texas-beat-uiw-on-tuesday
  16. Given that the first game was 2/20, to be fully vaccinated, they would have had to have received their first dose in January. That seems pretty unlikely at best (not to mention unethical).
  17. That’s exactly what the government wants you to believe about them.
  18. Because nothing drives clicks like a story about the potential 3rd QB.
  19. Since 2020 doesn’t count, he could actually play 3 more years. Plenty of time to make that happen somewhere else (theoretically).
  20. You’re mistaking not feeling sorry for the severs with being upset.
