  1. Still relevant? Yep. Carry on.
  2. There better not be any warning beacons lit then.
  3. Comparing what the Astros did to what other teams did would be like if the Democrats filed a bunch of frivolous lawsuits contesting the election too.

The boogeyman: a mythical creature used by adults to frighten children into good behavior. Appropriately ironic.
  5. I’ve never been a Herman fan, but I think Meyer is a scumbag and want no part of him. I’m blissfully ignorant of the thread on the football board, and will, sadly, continue watching faithfully no matter who is coaching. I guess I’m saying I can see how one could fall into that trap.
  6. The 41 infections included 39 men and both of the women in attendance.
  7. I clicked on this because I misread it as baking and got excited to see some cold weather holiday treats. Very disappointing.
  8. Almost as bad as his take on Bonhoeffer.
  9. Is that like being a little bit pregnant?
  10. If it's making an allowance for religion that other gatherings are not getting, isn't that letting religion dictate policy... like in a theocracy? Even if we stipulated to that interpretation of what’s transpired (and I don’t necessarily agree-see Brisket’s post), that’s still not a theocracy. That argument is akin to stating that there are religious people here-just like in a theocracy!-therefore, theocracy.
  11. It’s not any more unreasonable than the, “OMG THEOCRACY!!!!” responses.
  12. Nah, I wasn’t thinking of resisting Caesar, but of being a broken record. It was a joke.
  13. Yep. It takes some serious partisan blinders to read it the other way.
  14. I think you underestimate how that kind of rhetoric will alarm some outside of the “redneck gun nuts.” It’s a definite shift from his position during his Senate run (as he admitted). It doesn’t seem like the best strategy to influence the significant portion of voters in Texas who voted against Trump but were still otherwise R, and who’d almost certainly be essential to a win anytime in the near term.
  15. I’m not commenting on what should or should not be policy. But that statement will prevent you from being elected as governor of Texas any time in the foreseeable future. It’s just reality.
  16. Good luck tempering “Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15.” That’s the sound bite I play over and over and over again running against him. And it will work.
  17. He likely blew that chance with his comments on gun control.
  18. I believe the point is that the RCC is officially against capital punishment. This has nothing to do with abortion (except tangentially-how does her Catholicism inform her stance on each issue).
  19. I’ll go in a somewhat different direction, as I’m mainly interested in the intersection of politics and Christianity. If you are too, here’s a couple of classics and a new release this year (and if you’re not at all, just disregard):
  20. Come on, now. It’s one thing to point out the flaws in his reasoning. But if you’re going to critique verbosity, it seems rather, ahem, stochastic to start here.
