  1. Community colleges are cheap, and state schools are too (relatively speaking). I believe the biggest culprits here are small (and not so small) mediocre private schools. As an example: https://www.usnews.com/education/best-colleges/the-short-list-college/articles/colleges-where-graduates-have-the-most-debt SCHOOL (STATE) AVERAGE DEBT LOAD, CLASS OF 2018 PERCENTAGE OF GRADUATING STUDENTS WHO BORROWED U.S. NEWS RANK AND CATEGORY Maine Maritime Academy $55,644 94 5, Regional Colleges (North) Bryant University (RI) $54,067 70 7, Regional Universities (North) Carthage College (WI) $52,380 79 14 (tie), Regional Colleges (Midwest) Mansfield University of Pennsylvania $52,243 64 164-215, National Liberal Arts Colleges Baylor University (TX) $50,172 52 79 (tie), National Universities Union University (TN) $49,824 67 185 (tie), National Universities Texas Christian University $49,197 35 97 (tie), National Universities Quinnipiac University (CT) $48,544 70 153 (tie), National Universities Western New England University (MA) $46,591 81 218 (tie), National Universities The Catholic University of America (DC) $46,437 69 139 (tie) National Universitie
  2. Well if you want to take the term back to its origins, Hispania included modern Portugal.
  3. Before the Falwell, Jr. downfall, my money would have been on Liberty.
  4. It’s more that this is gibberish. I don’t know what you’re arguing for. Or against, for that matter. Or how it’s relevant to the thread.
  5. Also I’m defending @bad_teammate and I feel gross.
  6. I was obviously being snarky, but on a serious note-it’s easy for you to say it’s not a “sound argument” when holidays are something you don’t value at all. He obviously values them highly. We already have different inputs. Then when we’re talking about “risking your life” there’s a lot of variables. What precautions are in place? How careful are the people who will be attending in their lives right now? How many will be there? Is he in the at-risk group? There’s a vast chasm between half a dozen healthy, responsible family members who always wear masks and social distance outside of this and a super spreader hellscape of 100 extended family members, friends, and neighbors coming from who knows where and playing spit-in-the-face of the 400 lb geriatric diabetic. You can’t evaluate the argument without accounting for all of that.
  7. In a stunning development, it turns out people value different things.
  8. I get not gathering with 50 people. But if everyone is following proper procedures in the rest of life, I don’t see any reason why a small group is a big deal. My family doesn’t sit around and talk politics. I wouldn’t want to be around that no matter who was in office.
  9. This is where we need an eye roll as a reaction option.
  10. I checked this out because I couldn’t believe it-and, in fact, he’s 35 now. But still. I would have guessed 15 years older, give or take. That’s a rough 35.
  11. It had already been negotiated and submitted for ratification prior to his inauguration. Strange thing to get bent out of shape over.
  12. I don’t think your math checks out.
  13. My great-grandfather used to say that his vote was evidently the most powerful in the country, because he was the only person he knew to ever admit they voted for Hoover.
  14. You should try remembering the myriad times you were wrong instead. It will make you feel better.
  15. Not all, not even most, but a sizable number of them would go along with that. These people inhabit an alternate reality where they’re truly convinced that this election has been stolen.
  16. You seem like you fit into that society just fine.
  17. So there’s this and the “recruit” thread from yesterday too. How is it that you’re able to do so much day drinking?
  18. It was a joke (and that’s not ridicule). That’s more like it.
  19. THAT part is true. But thats a far cry from scripted, predetermined elections.
  20. Parler is thataway.
  21. Ah. I guess I figured it must be something more specific that I’d missed, but ok. Thanks.
  22. Between this thread and the new reaction button, I obviously missed something yesterday.
