If you fuck an L-shaped sectional, does that count as a threesome? Asking for a friend. -

Friend back home, "Say, J.D. Why'd you buy a couch from IKEA? We could just buy a put-together one in town and put it in my truck. You know you get all angry putting those damn things together!" J.D., "Foreplay, Larry. Foreplay..." -

J.D. picking cloves: -
The one I think of is the 2001 Big XII Championship game v. Colorado in Irving. Major comes roaring in, taunting the Buffalo bench. Almost pulled it off. But then some Colorado players only committed light misdemeanors. Kamala is going up against a 34-time convicted felon.

Pritzer brings a lot of moderate Democrats and their money into the fray. Maybe helps a bit with Wisconsin. But he's got some drawbacks Kamala doesn't need since they'll be pinning the same things on her. Not a bad 'outside-the-box' idea though. I don't get the Gov. Walz play, at all. -
Yeah, I don't really fault her for that. She's back in D.C. doing one debriefing after another, followed by internal inquiries, followed by committee prep, followed by hearings. She has 5 direct reports and 11 underneath them, most of whom had some hand in this (or lack thereof). Obviously on her flaws seems to be delegating to competent people. But tooling around in Western PA for 36 hours when she's got a lotta people to interrogate and then a lotta people to give answer, not a big deal IMHO. Plus I'm quite certain there's a protocol way above my paygrade on how they interrogate local law enforecement for incidents like this. But I'd rather some of them be showing my team around Western PA, while others are brought to DC to USSS HQ, on her turf to be questioned. Get them outta their bullshit comfort zone and start answering tough questions. They probably have a room where they can replicate the whole damn thing in 3-D anyway. I realize that would put a wedge between local LEO and USSS going forward. But guess what? Too fucking late.

Nobody likes an heir, Jesse. Hey tell your audience who your grandfather was. Publisher of "Better Homes & Gardens" and "The Saturday Evening Post." Two of the Top 10 magazines for decades in terms of sales/circulation. Back when magazines were a big fucking money-maker. Your uncle was a prominent New England State Senator for many years. You've inherited more than 99% of any American. Maybe tap the brakes on the "She Inherited It" bullshit. Like your father, her parents were teachers...prominent in their field, but not exactly rolling in dough. In fact, her early on statewide campaigns were struggling to make ends meet because she wasn't well connected like you were, she had to go asking the likes of Donald J. Trump for contributions. -
Forcefield activated strong just now. Clouds were darkening, pressure dropping, and wind getting weird. Now sun is out, humid as balls, and just a steady 5mph breeze. tomorrow looking like a similar fate. I'm happy we get 2" between now and Saturday as modeled. But shit, we got 2" in 90 minutes last Thursday. Overall, hadn't been a bad July like last few years. But we ain't even at the turn for the back half of Summer yet for another two weeks.

Good enough the kid can get the ammo, and then walk back in and use same ID to purchase a couple cases of beer. What? I never used a fake ID in a grocery store and I resent the implication. TXDL's are pretty damn fancy now with all the laser etched (whatever you call it) details. I think these types of machines would be hard to fool. Yeah, I like the "Last Stop for Bait, Supplies, 'n Ammo" that TwiceHorn suggested. That's where this is likely headed. What's the footprint of one of these things. By the photos, it looks about 3x3x6, maybe?

Speaking of convention-there's going a little tickle in the back of the DNC's ear not to over-produce this thing with celebrities and musicians. Because they want it to be more serious. Well remember the RNC had Hulk Hogan, Jason Aldean, Amber Rose, the UFC dude, the WWE broad, Russell Brand, and Kid Rock. They like to play the "I don't take political suggestions from actors and bands" card, meanwhile they do it all the time-theirs just happen to also suck at both politics and their craft. You'd better have two pro-Harris celebs per night plus one pro-Harris musical act. You'd better have the Clintons, the Obamas, Joe, Pelosi, Gavin, Gretchen, Swift, and every red state Governor and Senator who is not up for re-election. And get the usual token one-GOP'er to speak. Shouldn't be hard. Couple of pro athletes (not wrestlers), writers, Ted talk folks, nobel prize winners, astronauts, et. al. Serious, serious firepower. Don't hold back because you don't want to play into the "well we don't want to have too much starpower because it alienates some Americans like we're talking down to them. Fuck that. Get high and mighty next cycle. And please, VP Harris. Have somebody hold up that cancelled check from Trump to your two AG campaigns and a remark about thanking him for helping get Kamala started on her path to high office.

Wasn't that the name of the Janitor in "UHF" movie played by Michael Richards? I know I repeat myself when I say that some of the worst MAGA people look like Thumbs to me. Well Hans does not. Hans looks like the ingrown nail of said thumb. -
Heard that in person after the Biden debate meltdown. He pledged to his wife and family not to run for office, not just the job, but the gruel a year-long campaign would take on his health. However, this would basically be just a 3-month campaign tour, not a 12-month. And the office is far less grueling than that of POTUS, or even some Senators. He does like being close to his grandkids more than most grandpas, so that's a factor. But I didn't give it much thought when I heard it from someone very close to him. But now that Harris is happening and it'd basically just be tip-toe around it for a month until the convention---not like he doesn't pop up every now and again. Then mid-August to mid-November. He could do that standing on his head. But he would certainly not run with her in 2028, so that's another factor. But didn't really think about the truncated cycle he'd be asked to function within. I like this very much. In the end, she needs help in some swing states more than she needs "balance" to the ticket. But it's not Shapiro, Cooper, or Kelly...it should be McRaven. though he's done more than anyone for our nation and stood the watch.

Obviously this possibility has gone through the heads of her and the writers over the summer. But now that'll it'll be all but official this week, I'm guessing the writers are setting up zoom calls, buying 8-balls, and spending from now until the season premiere writing enough sketches to get her through the Saturday after Election Day. This should be awesome. Who plays J.D. Vance by the way? I think Mikey Day with a beard could pull if off, he's good at impressions, but he's kinda lanky. Same for Longfellow. Bowen would probably be the funniest at it, but I just think the obvious Asian v. Appalachian difference would be distracting. Dismukes and Marcello are funny in ensemble, but not really great impressionists. I bet it's Mikey or Longfellow with the right "padding." John Higgins from PDD videos could also pull it off. they're usually used in a few non-pre sketches throughout the season, this would be a more serious commitment. Thoughts anyone?

As others have stated, I sincerely doubt a mass shooter would be dumb enough to buy ammo from a Kroger's. I was merely inquiring as to logistics, security of the device, re-stock vulnerability, and how it could be used for straw-man purposes despite it needing an ID and face. I don't think any responsible owner is gonna abuse the availability of the inventory. It's those circling around on the periphery that can cause the most trouble.

-She wasn't born in Oakland, she was born in Auckland! Check her birth certificate! -Joe needs to do just three things on a loop. Take a victory lap, campaign for Harris, and claim Presidential Immunity while he lays waste to Trump and his minions for the next 6 months. -What the fuck with this weird mis-reading of the 12th? We've had plenty of current VP's simultaneously run for President/their Party's nomination (perhaps not this close to the general, but certainly before it). Just as the original constructionists framed it, Justices Thomas, Alito, et. al. Maybe you've heard of John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, George Clinton (didn't clinch), Martin Van Buren (much respect #8), John Breckenridge, Charles Fairbanks (didn't clinch), Thomas Marshall, John Nance Garner (didn't clinch), Henry Wallace, Alben Barkley (didn't clinch), Richard Nixon, Hubert Humphrey, and Al Gore. All were serving as VP when they campaigned to earn their party's nomination for POTUS before their respective conventions. All but 2 of them, after the 12th was ratified in 1804. and yet, MAGA is just baffled how this could possibly be allowed? The federal 2-name ticket for POTUS/VP has a separate set of rules that have been tested for over 200 years with no issues. Closest we got was Ford moving in for Agnew and then right into Nixon's spot. Even then 65% of America was cool with it until he pardoned Nixon. -How many MAGA family conference calls are happening tonight around the dinner table, "You know Chuck, as a student of history...this is the first of its kind slap to the fact of the American people. Democrats oughta be ashamed!" -
Yeah, that's why I said "Sporting goods store" like an exurb. I think a sole prop would be the most stringent. Then, even a low level sales associate at an Academy or Cabela's is gonna follow protocol because he's got guys eyes on him/CCTV, plus shrink prevention, secret shoppers, who knows what else? I think we're both picturing the same guy. Some place that offers the county little league uniforms, fishing gear, ammo, camping stuff. 3 locations region-wide kinda deal. Owner kinda floats between locations and some locations are only 2-3 guys deep covering the all departments. Clerk just wants to keep the line moving and back to his phone since there's no cameras or loss prevention guy roaming around. He doesn't even know the family that started the place. We all know that guy, we've all dealt with that guy. You really think they'll be that easy to physically break into rather than to hack them? I know nothing of how that technology works, but from a physical standpoint---that thing looks pretty damn sturdy. You couldn't smash through the front window backwards in a truck and winch the damn thing with enough time to get away. Not worth it over a few grand in ammo. Plus I'm sure the machines have little GPS deals in them you can't strip out. I was thinking a security chokepoint would be a delivery/re-stocking.
-
If this last week has taught us anything, it's impossible for POS systems to crash and/or be hacked. I think, as others have said above, the safety is probably more robust than some clerk who isn't paying attention at some rural sporting goods store that doesn't have CCTV.

The 12th amendment clearly lays this process out. It's one of the cleanest written amendments in the whole Constitution. Plus it comes from 1804, an era that many justices have a hard-on for, the immediate aftermath of Marbury v. Madison. -There are no longer primaries, or even general ballots, for the VP slot. It is treated as one federal ticket, administered by each of the states popular vote which feed into the EC. And then as a fail-safe the convention system comes along decades later which lasts until 1968. Which then evolves into this current primary system we've known for 56 years. In none of those incarnations, have voters cast ballots for a VP directly which then dictate the statewide electors vote their EC ballot. For a short while, you cast as an EC vote for both POTUS and VP, but that changed rapidly. And again, at no time, were "the people" ever voting separately any longer for a VP. And there was never any major party VP primaries. the whole "Americans were duped, this is unconstitutional! they wanted Biden, now they get Harris! Fake!" Presidents select VP candidates every general election prior to, often before the convention. If something were to happen to that POTUS nominee/incumbent between the selection and the general (death, assassination, resigning, incarceration, etc.), the party can move up the VP to the primary spot or open up the convention. Nobody voted for Gerald Ford for VP.

This is one of the rare instances where geography will be the most important aspect of the selection process. For decades, we've been led to believe that a ticket is balanced out by state/EC potential for both parties. When the opposite has been the case for the vast majority of faces. the offset is usually personality, experience, and policy. Beshear is youthful, energetic, and a policy/legal wonk. Much of his platform and positions heavily overlay those of Kamala. And Kentucky, nor its neighboring states are gong to flip this cycle. Illinois will stay Blue. Indiana, Ohio, WV, and Tennessee and MIssouri will stay red. I guess he shores up Virginia just in case that becomes a question mark since he has family ties there and went to law school there and lived there for a time. I don't see the value-add here. Kelly, Cooper, and Shapiro all add a more different policy overlay to Harris'. And all three bring states that are much more in need of solidification. There's a few other darkhorse candidates y'all should not sleep on. -
From a mechanical standpoint, do they work like most vending machines...where they open up the front like a swinging door (like soda machine or one of those airport machines that sells small electronics and earbuds)? And then guy can pull the individual rack out and rotate the current inventory up to the front and backfill with the new shit he's dropping off? I see the outer facade/interface, and I assume it's a claw that just rotates around behind the door to grab the right box. But in terms of restocking them, how does that part work?
